As a very young child I can remember my Grammaw saying I was being ornery cuz I didn't get my nap out. As an adult, I find myself agitated if I don't get my nap in. Far as I'm concerned, both seem to be correct in the ways of Appalachia and God Bless you for giving us the ability to debate such a topic!

Yes, Tipper, it is getting a nap out. That’s when you go to sleep and get awakened before you’re done. Katie and Matt are certainly confused. 🤣 They are referring to getting to actually take a nap at all.

As a former O.R. nurse, I've helped fix several broken legs when a tree "kicks out" and takes your legs out from under you. That's only if it doesn't pin your leg in between the tree and the stump. I'm so glad you are hiring someone to do that for you. Put my vote in for "nap out". If you don't get your nap in, you don't get to sleep at all, but if you don't get your nap out you don't get to finish your nap.

I have a metal roof too. Not my choice. Its 18 years old this May. I never had a metal roof and wasnt told how to maintain it. When we had a wind storm come along I found out about those screws!! Loud banging, followed by sections of the roof trim and actual panels being ripped off were a real eye opener. We searched for the roof parts, straightened them up as good as we could and put them back. Now twice a year I pay someone to replace the screws ripped out in winter storms. Id never do metal again!

My late husband was a timber broker, and one of his employees 12:m52 was what we call a “sawyer.” He was a small wiry man that would ask where you wanted the tree to come down, make notches in the trunk, and put it in the exact spot. What he did that got a lot of attention, was to work the saw with one arm behind him. He was actually featured on the local TV station when he was cutting cypress tress on Caddo Lake. He was amazing! We had him cut three huge pines next to our house.

I agree with you Tipper, I have always heard the phrase "they didn't get their nap out"... But if you try to analyze the phrase (as your lesser half and your Daughter did) then it doesn't make logical sense. But when you automatically say a long used phrase, you don't analyze it, you just say it. So my vote is with you..."you didn't get your nap out". If you don't get a "nap in", that means you didn't have time to take one. If you didn't get your "nap out" that's means you fell asleep but didn't sleep long enough b to be refreshed, you are still tired. Tipper, I totally agree with you…we always said “I didn’t get my nap out” if I was asleep and woke up too soon. I finally got my peat moss and compost tilled in my little garden last week. It has been raining so much I didn’t think I would ever get a chance. Hoping for a good harvest this year.

Tipper don't feel bad my Yankee raised husband is always correcting the way I talk. I talk the way my southern parents did. And yes if I don't get my nap out I'm cranky, hubby knows what that means. Thanks for the laugh, you remind me of my people. I wish they were still here.
