Good to remember that their filaments contract, so when we see it up close on that third angle, it looks like it contracted already before swimming away
@@joaocorona6593that's another thing to think about. In the video from 2022, where it's said to be "attacking," its movements are extremely rapid & aggressive. Prior to that behavior though, it was swimming straight up with its body completely elongated, and at that point you could really get an idea of the length of its tentacle. Truly an amazing creature that we have so much more to learn about.
I never get tired of seeing these amazing creatures - I am filled with wonder and awe every time! Thank you so much for continuing to hunt up and share these rare sightings. Seeing these beautiful, bizarre animals is a good reminder of how many organisms we share this planet with, how little we know about them, and how much more meaningful our lives can be if we set aside our obsession with material acquisition and simply look outwards.
Oh my god, this footage is amazing! First one reminds me of how I've come to fall in love with the hauntingly beautiful creature, but the other two made the bigfin squid even cooler because we get to see how it moves! Many people are understandbly scared of the ocean, and trust me, I too would keep a safe distance from certain parts. But I cannot help but stare in sheer awe when encountering creatures like these.
Super excited to share this with you guys! Which angle is your favourite?
Can't go wrong with that iconic first angle
First one 🤩🤯

Yuuup
I didnt expect it to be that tiny. The original video made it look so much larger.
I believe we only saw young examples of this species. It is said that the oldest are even bigger

that's just an adolescent. Adults are up to 12m (40ft)..
It's a juvenile. Other footage showed one about 40ft long

Material acquisition is the only reason why we get these videos.

More reason to leave it in the ground - don't disturb our friends, the magnapinna squid.
Naw homie, we need a 100ft tall aquarium.
