I love swarovski! The pieces are so pretty and most of them are affordable. Yesterday I bought my first swarovski item, but I'm in love with the brand, since I was a child. Even though my family never owned anything from Swarovski

I live 12km away from Swarovski Factory here in Austria (Wattens)..

Keep in mind, that a huge portion of items that use Swarovski crystal components are not necessarily directly affiliated with Swarovski; through their Create-Your-Style line of crystal components any crafter or designer can make use of and encrust jewelry, clothing and even household items with Swarovski crystal. Interesting fact: at the same Swarovski Design Contest in 2006 where I came in 2nd place in the Amateur category, Kelly DeFries-the Crystal Ninja responsible for the milkshake glass-also won an award for a Swarovski encrusted laptop with a Sea Turtle design (I vaguely recall it winning 3rd place Professional). She has done an amazing job of working truly hard to turn her recognition into an amazing career! (BTW: never turn down the chance to go to a Swarovski after-party. An experience of a lifetime!)
One more thing: their gorgeous faceted Swarovski figurines add more to the sparkle by using silver rather than lead, and the famous AB coating (short for Aurora Borealis) that is added to some crystals actually uses gold to get the iridescent and flashy effect.

Out of the 13 subsidiaries...one of them is called Swarovski gemstones......which does indeed sell diamonds!
I don’t know the background/history of the subsidiary you mention, but I assume they’re “natural” diamonds? I know recently in celebration of their 125th anniversary, they announced their new line of lab created diamonds! Last I read, they had the widest range of colors-and they are vivid, lovely colors

I absolutely LOVE my Swarovski crystal figures and of course my iconic mega swan. They make my heart warm as I look at them locked behind glass in my 18th century buffet and glass hutch. I am addicted to their everlasting beauty.

What about quality over time?
These crystals are beautiful indeed but I bought a few pieces and found that the metals they set the crystals in will not hold up to regular use. You can't get it wet, bathe in it or soak it in cleaning fluid. That's the only reason I won't buy them anymore. Why can't these beautiful crystals be set in sterling silver or stainless steel, to make jewelry that will last?
I do not take off my earrings to bathe and nothing has happened to them. still like new

swarovski is real lead crystal and top of the range and the most expensive crystal of all time and has the same refractive index as real diamonds and the next best thing to real diamonds and is from austria where i went on a ski trip years ago

I think it's overrated due to the fact that his workers are under paid! He found a niche and congratulations but take care of the ones who you would be nothing without!
Beautiful products but they treat people like garbage. High sales quotas if you work for their retail outlets. They fire you if you don't achieve them. They are going down high. Stores closing and eternal family conflicts. Finally, there is competition from other companies creating cheaper crystal alternatives.
