In my opinion Mean Joe Greene was the greatest defensive tackle who I have ever seen triple teamed and could not be stopped. He anchored the Steel Curtain from the start. He also made one of pro football’s greatest commercials as he ran through a tunnel after a hard fought game tired and thirsty.A little boy gives him a bottle of Cocoa Cola and he takes his jersey and gives it to the little boy. Thanks Joe Greene Thanks.

The proficient teacher, manager of egos, and coaching intellect, Chuck Noll, assisted his players to develop on the field and, just as importantly, off the field after their football careers were over. Joe Greene acknowledged and demonstrated this.

Joe Greene is the greatest DT I've seen in 55 years of watching this game, he is quite simply The GOAT.

This man changed the Game!! Teams had to redesign their Offense to compete against him. I would argue against anyone, Mean Joe is and was and forever will be, the greatest Football player the NFL has ever seen. He is the mold that all players are built on, oh and by the way, he had extensive nerve damage and had little use of one arm, still dominated... Triple teamed and still was feared.

What a great player and a total class act. Truly a special person who was the perfect mentor for youngsters,
growing up wanting to play the game. And I loved watching him dominate throughout the '70s.

I came a little too late to celebrate those super bowls from the 70s because of my age. But I became a Steelers fan in 1980. I read a book about Joe Greene when I was in school and I became a Joe Greene fan. I only got to watch him in the 1980 and 81 seasons and he was way past his prime but I still kept my eyes glued to the TV just to get a glimpse of him. Then he retired.
    I felt a sense of loss. 😢

The Goat ! Only 8 comments for Mean Joe Greene by Steelers fans is obsolutely ridiculous . Let those haters hate ,Mean Joe Greene is the Steelers unquestionable Goat 🐐 ,.The absence of Steelers supporters is sad but it dosent obstruct Mean Joe Greene's incredible NFL and Steelers Legacy ! Greatest Steelers Player ,most Intimidating Steeler ,Greatest Team Leader ,made personal sack stats sacrifices in order to afford his teammates excess to one on one blocking matchups or none at all, because he tied up multiple blockers . Teammate Andy Russell ,and a youtube channel about SB era players being the player of each decade , declared Joe Greene as the Player of the 70's Decade ! Two time Defensive Player Of The Year ,Defensive Rookie Of The Year ,10 Probowls, ,5 Time 1 team,3 Tme 2 Team . From taking over games ,to administering justice to opponents for committing illicit actions against him or his teammates ,once spit in Duck Butkus face for blindsiding LC GreenWood on a special team play ,Butkus wisely walked away from a enraged Joe Greene .The cornerstone for that franchises growth into a dynasty . Again ,what other cornerstone franchise player has recieved as minimal fanfare in that Hof players Hof speech ? Their absence still can't deny the fact ,Mean Joe Greene was annoitted the Steelers Goat by the Rooney's ,the highest rated Steelers player on the All time NFL Top 100 list ,when Joe Greene finally retired when his athleticism evaporated the remaining legends from those 70's teams never advanced to another SB .The Greatest Steelers , Great NFL DT Mean Joe Greene .

It's not really surprising in a way. The youngsters these days hardly know about Reggie White let alone an OG like Mean Joe Greene

Some would say Terry Bradshaw, Lynn Swann, Franco Harris. But to me the Defensive Teams are the Best of the Best people to watch. Witch is between, "Mean" Joe Green and Jack Lambert. are my most Favorites for sure.
Joe Greene is my number 1 for sure, Just like how he is the 1st Hall of Famer of The Steelers.
