Attn: The correct airflow direction is downward, not upward as I indicate in the video. I was feeling some backflow around the edges. If you're not sure, stick some tissue paper in the middle to check. Links from the desc for filters: Amazon US: amzn.to/3q6mSjn | UK: amzn.to/3q6FrEd
yes, i think though you feel wind hitting your hand from bottom, the air suction direction is downward. that's correct right? so filter should filter air which is downward towards the blower fan.
So if the air flow was in an upwards direction, why was the old filter covered in debris on the top ( filtered air) side ? Surely the air has been flowing downwards and the topside was catching the debris and the new filter has an ‘air Direction’ arrow and as this is not an orientation arrow it should have been pointed downwards, No?
Toyota wants DIY owners to install it wrong so the cover arrow points up which is opposite the direction of air flow which is down. I have installed after market filters wrong before so I used a marker and indicated airflow down for the next replacement. It does matter. Airflow is noticeably reduced when the filter is backwards.
You are actually wrong pal. Air flow goes from top to bottom. That is why all the debris in the filter is in the top. You have just instructed viewers to put it in the wrong way. Please delete or correct video.
Wait, same thing for my airflow with the exception that the debris was in the top It's a little hard to explain but I think that they might have installed it backwards because the debris was under the filter

Very clear and helpful explaination. Thanks a lot! 😌
Will be doing this myself tomorrow, thanks for the video

Edit: Ok you're right, I was feeling some backflow and didn't stick my hand in far enough. Airflow is downward.

All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow.

Very helpful video. 👍
