    About spellcasting stat:
    - wisdom for divine
    - intelligence for arcane
    - charisma for spontaneous casting (either divine or arcane)

      @@alvedonaren Nope. Stigmatised Witch uses Charisma, but they *are* a spontaneous caster. (Source: ruclips.net/video/XwVOr4p8-f8/видео.html Check the class description shown.)

      Inquisitors also use Wisdom as well, despite being spontaneous casters. While Paladins are the opposite as a prepared caster, that use Charisma.

  • @Badbentham
    @Badbentham 3 года назад +25

    The comparison between Cleric and Oracle, generalists vs. specialists, is really like the one between Wizard and Sorcerer; however, for me, the Spontaneous Casting
    makes Oracles often better casters than clerics, as the divine caster spellbook really mostly has only 4- 5 highlights per level, that the Oracle can cast over and over.
    Important to understand is that the Oracle is far more defined by her Mystery, and the resulting Revelations and bonus spells, than the archetype:
    The story companion, for example, champions the Life mystery, which makes him a dedicated healer; and way more than any cleric ever would be.
    - If you look for the "infamous Channel bot", whose only purpose in live is to spam heals over and over, then you pick the Channel revelation, and should really look no further. ;)
    While it is generally thought a subpar idea for a cleric build. who ideally wants to avoid going overly MAD, and thus dumps Charisma,
    and has a few way better things in combat to do, the Life Oracle really shines here.
    Completely different would be, e.g. , a Dhampir Bones Oracle, who is all about dealing damage, self-heals, CC, and summoning Undead, on his way to, hopefully, lichdom.
    Overall, it is mostly important to understand what you want from an Oracle beforehand; then she really is rather straight- forward.
    An overly gimmicky caster class ? - Witch, I see you! ^^

      Spontaneous casters are incredibly strong, especially in the games compared to the tabletop game. Once the spell list is no longer 40 spells long of each level and is instead 10, then only being able to pick a handful is a lot less bad. The only down side is pretty much getting spells 1 level later, and some mythic path help you with that. ;)

    One really cool advantage Oracles have over Clerics: they actually can be good martials. Especially the Battle and the Nature mystery can lead to you becoming a competent martial. I prefer 2handed (or 1handed with shield) for them, because it only needs a single feat to make them a viable fighter: Power attack. Battle Oracles can be really good with weapons, while also being divine fullcasters, which is huge.
    I personally played a Nature Oracle in the Beta, and while I find myself casting a lot of spells out of combat, or some high level spells in-combat, most of the times she's at the front riding her animal companion, is able to tank the heavy hits and dishes out a lot of damage in melee.

    • @MrDizuki

      Nature is super good, being able to use your cha instead of dex is pretty cool.

    At one point in the pnp the mystery feature was adopted to inquisitors as well letting them choose a mystery instead of a domain, or deity...one of those.

    • @zarddin9561
      @zarddin9561 3 года назад +2

      Cleric of Asmodeus with Fire domain will be immune to fire and I'm sure that will be nice vs demons plus you can be a great devil worshiper and devils hate demons :)

    • @Squeeble00
      @Squeeble00 3 года назад

      @@zarddin9561 the thought had crossed my mind, i just considered zon-kuthon because i hate how the heavy maces in kingmaker looked and he gives flail proficiency. I might have a spare feat i can put towards martial proficiency either way though

    • @zarddin9561
      @zarddin9561 3 года назад +1

      @@Squeeble00 To tell the truth I would go for Asmodeus because of roleplay and fire domain and I liked how 1handed maces looked and these are his favored weapon.
      But since I think only Fire Domain is a good Asmodeus domain I would probably go for Crusader and Human to get 3 feats at start and one of them can be Martial Proficiency as human free feat and Heavy Armor as Crusader extra feat. Losing a domain and 1 spell/level is not much in my opinion if you know what weapon you want to use/is best in game as you can focus extra Crusader feats on that weapon and get AB and dmg with these feats without needing to have 4/8/12 fighter levels. So you lose some spells but you get more damage for the whole game so it is like a buff that is always on :P and even works vs trash mobs that you don't want to waste buffs on :)
      Or you can go for Cleric 19/Fighter 1 to get Heavy Armor and Martial Proficiency and an extra feat for free so start as Cleric and pick Fighter on level 2. It is a good choice if you don't want to specialize in one weapon or you don't know what kind of weapon you will use at endgame. I think you only lose 1 level 8 and 1 level 9 spell and that means only 2 less spells and 2 spells are not worth as much as 3 feats in my opinion.
      That way you can focus on STR, CON, WIS and leave DEX, INT and CHA at 10 to be more of a combat cleric and less of a channel energy cleric and channel negative energy in my opinion is not as great as bashing skulls.
      But Zon-Kuthon can be good for Destruction + Death domains also :P You can roleplay a guy that just wants to see everything die and being destroyed :P

    Is mystic theurge a class in this iteration of pathfinder like it was in kingmaker? If so, having a Cha divine caster could be great for that. Then u can focus on CHA and have a sorc/oracle into Mystic Theurge, w/out having to divide your attribute points over both wis and cha.

    • @Fynzmirs
      @Fynzmirs 3 года назад +2

      I absolutely love Theurges but they require a ton of optimancy in pnp which always makes me sad
      Also, Feyspeaker druid is Charisma-based so you can already do a single-stat Theurge in Kingmaker.

    • @AchmedtheHealer
      @AchmedtheHealer 3 года назад

      @@Fynzmirs a Empyreal Sorcerer Archetype was also in kingmaker and used Wis instead of Cha, so you could also make a single stat Wis theurge. The draw back to all of these is they use sorcerer over wizard which get spells one level later which means you cant get 9th level spells.

    • @Fynzmirs
      @Fynzmirs 3 года назад

      @@AchmedtheHealer well the Oracle also gets his spells one level later
      Honestly, if you are willing to play a theurge you should just use some mods to reduce the requirements on one of the sides (so that the class would require 2nd level arcane casting and 1st level divine or the other way around). You are already gimping yourself when it comes to pure strength so might as well level the playing field a little.

    • @Seranov
      @Seranov 3 года назад

      If it's anything like tabletop, that's a terrible idea. You end up taking until like level 11 to get 4th level spells or something like that, iirc. You have LOTS of spells to use, yeah, but the spells you do have are way behind the power curve. Theurge is basically just not a very good prestige class because it encourages people to generalize when specialization is where it's at in PnP.

    Shot in the dark but I came here looking for an answer. Curios if you know.
    My oracle (no archtype) occasionally fails spells and I can't figure out why. No other caster has this issue. It's definitely not abyssal sickness or whatever. I have her in heavy armor with a tower shield using the war and healing domains. Otherwise nothing notable. No idea why I occasionally fail spells. Even with no armor (i tested it). Know anything about that?

    • @Fynzmirs
      @Fynzmirs 3 года назад +1

      Well, she does respect a number of deities so she's not really an atheist but the definition of the word "atheist" is a bit blurry in Pathfinder.
      However, even if the iconic oracle isn't an atheist, there is nothing stopping the oracles of the pnp version from being atheist (in both the real meaning of this word and the presumably different fantastical one).
