Two women tried to occupy an empty parking space for their friend who was on the way to the car park. A driver then pushed the women away with his car and forced his way to the same parking spot in eastern China’s Jiangsu province.

While I was in college, a sorority pledge tried this with me. She was standing there saving a parking spot for her “big sis”. I held down on the horn while easing forward. She started weeping. After I parked and was walking to class, I looked back. She was still standing there bawling. Truly pathetic.
Just be glad she didn't key your car. Quit making conflicts that can be easily avoided and stop making nameless enemies. You never know

From my experience, colleges love giving parking tickets and there are a lot of teachers that are unforgiving on being late, so there's obviously a lot of factors that can drive motivations to get that clearly available parking spot rather than spend more moments looking for another one. You aren't in the wrong for parking a car in a car parking space, so you technically aren't at fault. The only way a person would spin the story into blaming the driver is acting like being nice and sacrificing your livilihood for others is a requirement by law, but it's not soooooo.

i think the driver and the people are both equally wrong, nudging a person back with a car can be dangerous and lead to serious injury. I dont think the parking slot was worth bumping into people with a car. Think of it as a traffic stop, the driver pulls over and the cop pulls a gun and shoots em. Yes, the driver would be in the wrong for speeding, but using a gun would be excessive force

Absolutely ridiculous! You can't save a car parking spot, unless it's your property, or comes with the place you're renting. The driver was perfectly right. The woman shouted that there were plenty of other spaces, so there shouldn't be any problem for your friend to park in one of them...

The craziest thing was the woman responding with “Why not?” She truly believed she had the right to hold the parking spot by standing in it.

Those women are lucky the driver was actually being careful. What they did was wrong. You don't have the right to a parking space by standing there to reserve and your vehicle's not even there.
Mentioned in the statement indicate that the parking space never just for vehicle. So by policy they're not wrong by standing there but it's wrong for the driver to cause an act that could harm those women intentionally.

It ironic that the women occupying an area where a car is supposed to be parked are blocking it for a car and then aren't equally punished seems like BS. You by no means own the building neither the parking spot unless it a designated by your facility owner it authorized.
Uh, of course not, standing in the parking lot is annoying but not safety hazard. The driver could have tried to comunicate or had the passenger get the security to remove them. Reversing their car right into them is a huge safety hazard, so yes he is more to blame. Two people fighting, the one who throws the punch will get in more trouble than the one who initiated the argument. This make sense. It's not like the women didn't get reprimanded as well.
What interesting is seeing the management team learn from this and hire security guards to improve the situation while most of us can't resist to give our piece of minds like those 2 women xD

It's an SUV with a wiper blade in the back so they could have just "cleaned" the rear window a bit to see if they keep pushing on the car.

Yes, the same happened to me in Luxembourg Gare Station, as two ladies were standing in an empty spot for their friend who was on way. Unlike here, there were no more any free spots. My friend argued with them and we put the car there as we came first.

Are you blind? This wasn't "while reversing", the two women already occupied the slot before the car came. If you ask me, the driver is full of arrogance. Shanghainese plates on top of that, infamous for their snobby attitude.
You know this can be considered assault in court? Any non-verbal action taken (in this case using car as a tool to push pedestrians away) against the opposing party in a verbal only dispute or confrontation can be regarded as such.

1. Her friend is still “on their way”
2. “There are lots of empty spaces here”
Then why not move to those spaces and reserve them for your friend?

Woman is completely wrong. There is no reservation for a specific parking unless the spot is specific marked as Reserved Parking. You claim her friend is only that way, what does that meaning. Her friend could be 1 hours away or 1 miles away. The general rule is, first car their, first car park. I personally experience something like this in a parking lot as I was about to pull out and leave, a woman was walking in front of me and waving her husband to come. I horned her and ask her to move so I can leave. Some other car was coming and about to take the spot once I leave. The woman initially wasn't going to let me pull out. I had to horn it a few time and scream at her with profanity so get her out of my wave. Once I pull out, she step in and attempt to take the spot. There was a big argument and then, it was other people problem now. I do feel that woman has NO right to reserve spot as the other car was their first. These people entitlement believe is crazy.

The first action taken in any verbal confrontation is considered against the law. In this case, the driver using a tool (car) to reverse into pedestrians without prior communcation.

In my country, "chopping" a parking space is considered as a crime and those who did it would be fined around RM 1000 to RM 2000.

That happened to me once at Walmart. I got to the parking lot, and there was only one parking spot left, with a woman, a literal woman, not a car, a woman just standing there in that parking spot. I thought wow this *itch and I went home.

Absolutely ridiculous. Reprimand the driver for not communicating with the woman first? It's obvious she was trying to bully someone out of taking that spot. It just so happened that she came across a person who refuses to be intimidated. Its this type of governing and policing that emboldens people to stand in front of cars thinking that they have protection from the law. Anyone that knowingly/willfully stands in the trajectory of a two ton moving metal object is either mentally unstable or has shady intent.
As shown in the video, the driver did not communicate with the women of their intention, which could be dangerous for the women.
Anyway, in Chinese law system, the driver only get a "warning", which does not do any harm for him.
They may not have communicated verbally, but they did communicate by action. lol

Public parking spaces are on a first come, first served basis. No one stands in a parking space to stake a claim, because no one personally owns a public parking space.

I totally agree that people can’t just reserve a parking spot just by standing there, it’s for cars! But I also have to say that the driver better learn to park better 😆
I love how the people in the comments section are like "the driver was at fault too why didn't he communicate?" idiots, have you ever been behind a wheel? What was he supposed to do roll down his car window and get into an argument with them? They'd end up attacking him while he's at the wheel and it'll end badly for all of them. Parking lots are first come first serve, it's not occupied unless a car is parked then it's free to be parked.
I don't see any comments saying that it's the drivers fault but it's absolutely absurd that the driver got reprimanded

You are missing the point. The police says the driver didn't communicate and acted on his own terms. A moving car is still dangerous regardless of the speed.

Did u guys not read? Standing in the parking lot is annoying but not a safety hazard, reversing the car into people is. The car had two people, the passenger could have totally called security from the mall to remove the women or at least try to communicate. Of course he would get into more trouble than them.
It's like this, two people arguing, the one who throws the punch would get in more trouble than the one who initiated the argument.
