Great little workshop tour. I heartily endorse the magnetic parts tray (I think I spied one on the desk) - mine has been a godsend. Getting down on my hands and knees to look for a spring or screw isn't fun, no matter how well-swept the floor is!
Hi! I enjoy watching your videos. Your kids are great helpers. I'm hoping you can help me with a Signature 511. The Tab doesn't work, it acts like a space bar because the tab gear doesn't spin. Is the top piece suppose to spin? or the whole assembly? I can't tell....the whole thing is frozen. But the bottom (break) underneath spins freely. Any advice/info would be much appreciated. Thanks from a fellow Texan.
Hey. It's really hard to troubleshoot over the internet BUT I have seen this before. Once I had to remove the entire tab assembly because I couldn't fix it. The other, I was able to resolve. What's likely happened is that your tab/tab break assy. is FROZEN. The lubricant has gelled up. That top gear is supposed to turn and if it doesnt' you get the single space tabbing. Apply some lacquer thinner and try to get it to drip down in and around that mechanism to free it up. Another help -- heat up that tab mechanism with a soldering iron/hair dryer heat gun etc in to dry to break free that lube. Good luck
@@LazyDogTypewriters thanks for the quick reply. I tried mineral spirits (Don't have lacquer thinner), so I will try a heat gun next. One more question....is your ETSY store called Lazy Dog Typewriters?
@@shantycrafts8491 Home Depot and Lowes etc have lacquer thinner in the paint dept. You could also try acetone (nail polish remover) in a pinch. A soldering iron delivers more targeted heat but a heat gun may help. You'll need to work the gear to get it to turn. and yes - but all one word LazyDogTypewriters to find us! www.etsty.com/shop/lazydogtypewriters
This is the greatest! Thanks for sharing.

Great tour! I thought the lazy Susan looked familiar. :) Good work by Kevin and Katie, as always.
To paraphrase Sir Isaac, if we have turned further, it's because we borrowed your lazy susan
