- When brutal tidal waves suddenly destroy many coastal communities in a short period of time, John Wahl, a nobel prize winner, is brought out of his lazy retirement and back into service as a consultant. He teams up with a Navy officer to find out the cause of the disaster. But when a ransom of one billion dollars is demanded, Wahl is the government's number one suspect.

Nice movie! NO foul language, no sex scenes, only enough gun play to make a point. The script moved along nicely--and the science used made it seem real. This IS science fiction, so writers ARE allowed to bend the rules anyway. I really liked the actors chosen to play the parts, and all of them did well. Excellent script --loved they way the two main characters really played off each other in the scene with redirecting the bombs. Very nicely done with the dialogue!
The photography was great! Excellent disaster sets, really looked like the real deal! Great set dressing!!

Never had to tackle a large wave but i will never forget getting stuck in an undertow when i was 10 and i had no idea anything was wrong. I remember my dad and uncle yelling at me and my cousin to swim and we weren’t going anywhere no matter how hard we tried and they were walking sideways while telling us to swim and eventually we were able to get close enough for them to grab us. I didn’t even realize how far out we had gotten. It was after we got out of the water when i learned what an undertow was and how to get out of one. A lesson i will never forget and i tell the story to anybody that is with me when going to the beach just so they know. ❤
The exact thing happened to me in Puerto Rico. I was like 16 through and did not see that there was an issue until two young guys on boogie boards noticed what was happening, the towed us out!

There are a lot of disaster movies in this genre, but this is one of the best. I enjoyed it a lot. Somehow the two lead characters have a working chemistry and they manage to hold all the threads together. Very tender her gift to him in the end!

I am not a movie expert, but somehow I consider this one of THE BEST films ever made. Script is very imaginative, full of clever and unexpected twists. Acting is superb, in particular the first dog's way of playing dead. The story is also very romantic (the kiss shown on the last scene is so sweet that inspired me to kiss my wife, sadly to find out that I do not have wife, so I have to knock my neighbour's door hoping that his girlfriend opened it in order to softly kiss her. Well, Pedro opened door and had to kiss him. He was carrying his dog Bobby, so I kissed Bobby too and I felt I was inside a tidal wave of mixed emotions). Botton line: great movie!

I am impressed...great writing, acting...I always look for the bad guy at the beginning...I got fooled...great suspense..and the lead actors deserve more fame!! Very good directing on this, too!! Nice flick!!!

At about 51 minutes, they tackle the tidal wave just the way my sister and I were taught to tackle a big wave we couldn't outrun (on the coast of Delaware, in the 1950s). Get out to the wave ASAP, so you reach the top just before it crests. Then you can ride in on the back of the wave. Great job!

Tidal Wave: No Escape! What a con-trick title. There is an escape. The clue is in the word "coastal". Live in the foothills of the mountains, away from the sea, and there is escape.

I love Sci-Fi movies that have absolutely no basis in science. This plot has more holes in it than my spaghetti strainer hat.

A film is a film and it is possible to do exactly what is in this movie however they forgot about the contamination it would cause. It is just like 9-11, I was in Shanksville Pa. when Flight 93 was alleged to have crashed there I was on the road and watching the sky at the time of the explosion and was filming a white Jet over the area but never saw an Airliner at all and I could see everything. Glad I got out of there. There were no Bodies Bags or Blood at the site and no 300,000 lb airplane. I am a retired 747 Cargo Pilot and Examiner whereas I call BS on that crash. Don't care what anyone says it more likely than not was a setup. Where are all the Planes. I can only attest to what I saw and know for certain. I still have the Tape 10 minutes before and 30 minutes afterward. No Plane other than the Leer jet in the sky over the area nowhere.

Enjoyed the movie! It's 12-03-24, and Hurricane Helene and Milton have flooded the entire Gulf Coast of Florida and the Appalachian mountains! The bodies of all will never be found! They are getting really good at their science!
