    Why hunt coyotes?
    As 4th generation ranchers and farmers, hunting coyotes is not just a hobby or a pastime for O'Neill Ops. They have a duty to protect the cattle that they raise for food. For them, predator hunting is not merely a sport, but a way of life.
    Coyotes are presently the most abundant livestock predators in western North America, causing the majority of sheep, goat, and cattle losses. For example, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, coyotes were responsible for 60.5% of the 224,000 sheep deaths attributed to predation in 2004. The total number of sheep deaths in 2004 comprised 2.22% of the total sheep and lamb population in the United States, which, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service USDA report, totaled 4.66 million and 7.80 million heads respectively as of July 1, 2005. Because coyote populations are typically many times greater and more widely distributed than those of wolves, coyotes cause more overall predation losses. The United States government agents routinely shoot, poison, trap, and kill about 90,000 coyotes each year to protect livestock.
    Coyotes typically bite the throat just behind the jaw and below the ear when attacking adult sheep or goats, with death commonly resulting from suffocation. Blood loss is usually a secondary cause of death. Calves and heavily fleeced sheep are killed by attacking the flanks or hindquarters, causing shock and blood loss. When attacking smaller prey, such as young lambs, the kill is made by biting the skull and spinal regions, causing massive tissue and bone damage. Small or young prey may be completely carried off, leaving only blood as evidence of a kill.
    In the absence of hunting pressure on coyotes practiced by rural people, urban coyotes are losing their fear of humans, which is further worsened by people intentionally or unintentionally feeding coyotes. In such situations, some coyotes have begun to act aggressively toward humans, chasing joggers and bicyclists, confronting people walking their dogs, and stalking small children. Non-rabid coyotes in these areas sometimes target small children, mostly under the age of 10, though some adults have been bitten.

      @@YourRiceBoy but aren't we humans part of the problem? Farming their habitat and taking over for farms and houses? Kinda like the deforestation of the Amazon . Hell people kill coyotes even when they don't have no live stock or animals in these areas. People are way to bloodthirsty. Atleast the Indians used every part of what they killed unlike alot of Americans.

      Most of Iowa has no predators to keep the coyote population under controll. So hunting them is necessary. As with many other states. Then they over populate and spread disease.

    • @soundsofnature7015
      @soundsofnature7015 3 года назад +5

      @@marcusslaymaker5368 I agree that since we killed off the natural predators we now have to step in and control the population. I would however suggest that we all stop being pussies and reintroduce the wolves, bears, and mountain lions we eliminated to begin with. They can eat these tiny coyotes and we can hunt bears. Win win situation. Only problem is Karen's and Kyle's will ruin it for everyone.

    In the army, the foreman told us how in 80 years in Soviet Kazakhstan, farmers with jackals and wolves had problems. Then, one of the farmers, the son served as an officer in the local part of the artillery troops from whom the locals asked for help. Before the next and the departure and into the calculation field of mortars and howitzers, a bait was made of rams in the calculation of the firing square, when the follower found a flock - he gave a signal. The bastards didn’t even understand what killed them. It is interesting to experience a similar experience, but with a thermal imager on the D-30 cannon and needle-piercing shells

      What’s really sad is that you guys are not only demonizing an entire species but buying into all the propaganda that it’s necessary. Ppl should take the time to educate themselves about all the good that coyotes do like controlling small animal populations, preventing lyme disease and saving wild birds from other predators who destroy their nests. They’re also a keystone species so, when you kill them, you’re hurting the ecosystem at large.

      Because coyote hunters use a sound of a dying rabbit to bring them in. That's why most of them are coming towards him. They are coming towards the sound of a potential meal.
