Obi-Wan was empowered by the force itself and merged as one with the force itself to survive and defeat Darth Vader narrowly by cutting open Vader's skull helmet and facial mask that supplied Darth Vader's oxygen, and Obi-Wan was determined to protect Anakin/Vader and the late Queen/Naboo planet senator Padm'e Amiddala Skywalker's children, Luke and Princess Leia Skywalker, from the Sith. Obi-Wan in his lifelong exile into hiding on Tattooine learned from the force ghost of the late Qui-Gon, his late Jedi master, how to become one with the force in life and after death. As Obi-Wan did twenty years later when he sacrificed himself to Darth Vader on the first Death Star so that Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa -Skywalker, his estranged sister, Han Solo, Chewbacca and the droids could escape in the Millennium Falcon. Although old man Obi-Wan was gonna be defeated by Darth Vader either way but put up a good fight before he sacrificed himself. In their second duel Obi-Wan won because he was empowered by the force to win, driven to protect Anakin's and Padm'e's children from the Sith and targeted Darth Vader's skull helmet and facial mask he cut open which exposed Anakin's/Vader's burned, deformed and disfigured face. If not for Obi-Wan being empowered by the force, he would've lost, been defeated and died against Darth Vader. Obi-Wan was also ten years retired, late middle aged and past his prime and out of practice but far more powerful and stronger in the force on the light side of the force and still an expert skilled and experienced swordsman. Obi-Wan in his prime and middle aged stage in episode 3 Revenge of the Sith and early prime adult twenty-two year old Anakin in ROTS in their first sword duel on Mustafar were evenly matched and it was a close, two sided, evenly matched, competitive lightsaber sword duel and force battle and both were equally skilled in swordsmanship, with prime Anakin/Darth Vader slightly surpassing his former Jedi master, teacher and mentor and being the closely more skilled, formidable lightsaber sword duelist while Obi-Wan was the more experienced duelist and the smarter, tactical fighter and narrowly defeated Darth Vader after their fight eventually led to a stalemate using the high ground advantage several feet above Vader on the metal platform Darth Vader leaped from hundreds of feet into the air and across the lava river and onto the higher ground on the volcano mountain embankment where Obi-Wan stood and attempted to jump and land behind Obi-Wan to deliver a killing strike but Obi-Wan dismembered Darth Vader's limbs mid-air and afterwards Darth Vader fell to the bottom of the volcano embankment and was burned by the lava. Had their first sword duel continued on level ground without the high ground, Anakin/Darth Vader eventually would've won and narrowly beaten and killed Obi-Wan on Mustafar. Afterwards, Vader would've ruled the galaxy alongside Emperor Palpatine as his Sith apprentice for a few years until Darth Vader eventually grew far more powerful and stronger in the force, than even Darth Sidious himself, surpassed Darth Sidious and would've overthrown Palpatine in a fair one on one lightsaber sword duel and force battle to the death between both Sith Lords master and apprentice and overthrown and destroyed Palpatine and Darth Vader would've ruled the galaxy and Galactic Empire as emperor and master Sith Lord. But Obi-Wan neutralized that chance.

Obi won winning just makes Vader cheap. I mean if he was stronger why did Luke have to fight, the light side always equaling dark side proved here by obi not even training for years and still winning.
Disney keeps using Vader as a means to make others look good and it’s sad
This scene is dumb. Vader was the epitome of Sith and Disney needed to just make a show about a popular actor.
Wrong. It was not Darth Vader who Obi-wan was fighting... it was Anakin.
So anyone can best Vader now. What is the point training Luke to be a jedi, and steer Luke to defeat Vader, if OB1 could have done it at any time?
Typical "Shut up, don't ask, consume product".
Vader should have won. They could have written it so that someone intervened to save Obiwan. Obi- wan already beat Anakin on Mustafar (barely). For good story writing, Vader should have won here. Then when the original SW "A New Hope" comes into play, Vader ends up killing Obiwan.
Obi-wan beating Vader here like this was wack. Hated it. Terrible story writing
he ddindnt lose lol
Plot armor, it would contradict ep4
If this had been some kinda reboot? Blowbiwan would be dead as a possum crossing a highway.
Also it technically solidifies old bens bullshit lies about his role of creating darth vader
Shit writing and pure plot armor
Plot armor. Obi-Wan can't die or be badly injured because he is alive and in good health in a new hope. Vader can't win againt Obi-Wan before a new hope.
@@Xenos118 exactly and it sucks cause now the Jedi fanboys think he’s so great when literally this entire time plot armor is what kept him alive, dooku whupped his ass twice in the movies alone, maul would have won if he didn’t screw around
This ruins the canon for this franchise. The reason Luke existed was to bring balance to the force (because the dark side thru Vader & Empire is overwhelmingly powerful). This proves that Darth Vader was weaker than some average Jedi. LOL, what a joke! The moment you "think" about the balance of the force was overwhelming heavy on the "light side" proves that Disney Changes to Canon makes it so nothing matters at all. The dark side is Disney destroying the franchise.
Garbage writing. There is no reason for obi to win, Obi wan fearing vader and training Luke was the entire point of a new hope
I don't think Obi-Wan feared Vader, but he knew he couldn't beat him again. But then that scene in Kenobi where he defeats him a second time throws that entire plot point out the window and makes A New Hope pointless. Such awful writing.
Fuck obi wan
I'm mad for the end of this show. Letting Obi-Wan win against Vader at this point ruin all the mean of the original trilogy! These authors don't know star wats, these author let Obi-Wan win just because this was his show and because Vader is the villain. They admit that in the original script Vader win the duel and believe Obi-Wan was dead, but at the end they change for marketing and other stupid things... sadly we don't get Filone to direct this show a but Debora Chow that prove himself as a terrible star wars director.
Obi Wan does not fear Vader in ANH, at all. When the movie came out, Lucas was very clear about the fact that Ben was superior to Vader. He stated that all Vader had going for him was his mechanical enhanced strength, but that Obi Wan was much more skilled and powerful
@@valou-scaling I don't say Kenobi fear Vader, but definitely he know he can't beat him and indeed he sacrifice himself for this. Even the official novelization confirm that Vader was superior. The Lucas quote you refer is an old quote that even Lucas addressed. Lucas also said Yoda wasn't a warrior but instead he is a warrior.
Because of bad writers
not defeated, just almost beaten, neither of them won the fight, Obi Wan needed to survive, he maybe physically Stronger than Darth Vader, but he was not Powerful, sources claim Darth Vader is More Powerful than Anakin, as soon as Obi Wan would have tried to strike him down, he would leave an opening, and Vader would just Force Choke him to death, like how he got Commander Fox Killed. That's the thing Obi Wan didn't want to kill him, he could not bring himself to kill his friend he thought of Anakin as a son, even if he did wanted to kill him, he wouldn't succeed, Anakin was a slow Lightsider learner, but Darth Vader is NOT Anakin, nor a slow Lightsider learner, he became a fast Darksider learner, he would use all 7 Lightsaber forms to fight his former master to get his Master killed would not fall for the High ground trick again, or would use force Choke on an opening to get him Killed. Because of the plot armors on both of them, the directors made the fight have no losers, nor winners, made their last fight in New Hope on Death Star where Vader got Obi Wan Killed
bad writng thats why lol vader win ez
vader was weak compared to many many other jedi and sith!
No he wasn’t prime Vader scales above ever Jedi on the council that’s a fact.
@@markykrajky13 exactly, which makes the entire Kenobi scene absurd. I can understand him losing the first time on Mustafar due to his anger and arrogance. But losing a second time to Kenobi is just stupid. He is literally supposed to be an OP supervillain. If Obi-Wan can just beat him every time they face off, it just destroys his entire character. He isn't even scary anymore.
