The #Alex Giveaway is over. Congrats to Natalie M! The Spyderco Pacific Salt is yours! If you didn't win, you can continue to leave your #Alex condolences in the comments for good karma. Thanks to everyone who entered!
Blade HQ you live near tooele?
Or manga?
We're in Lehi. Not too far down the road.
Blade HQ I added the comment saying how cool the salt series was and how cool it would be if I won, but honestly I wouldn't really want the knife or the Drone just the footage off the Drone LOL
Blade HQ what about the drone? I still want it.
This is quality content. Like seriously, this is the quality I would expect from a full time RUclipsr, not a knife retail site. Good job guys keep it going
High praise. Thank you! Tell Casey Neistat we want to do a collab. ;)
Consider it arranged ;)
There needs to be oxygen in order for it to rust. Think about pulling an old ship canon from the bottom of the ocean, you would think that being solid iron they would be rusted to sht, but they are not. That is because they are not in oxygen after being exposed to the salt water. My personal H1 blade that is kept in my BCD that routinely gets submerged, then let dry, submerged, then let dry, has a bit of rust on it.
멋있고탐나는나이프다
I was upset Alex didn’t turn up. He must have had his reasons but I was still left a little empty.
Same. At least grab your memory card Alex! You spent $$ on a drone for cool footage, might as well recover the last of it.
Me to, what a dick move from him. Newertheless blade HQ guys, I am lifting my hat such a nice crew!
Most likely he realized that nothing valuable has left alive and was too lazy to pick up this piece of junk :)
Maybe he fell into the salt lake
Rust is an oxidization process so leaving things submerged is not necessarily the best test. It would be better to dip the knives in water then leave them in a humid air environment over a period of time. Rusting underwater is dependent upon the oxygenation of the water. You can see that in deep shipwrecks, there is steel still intact because of the relatively low oxygen available to create the oxidation reaction at depth in the ocean. Things will generally rust faster in a humid air environment than under water, which would be a great real-world comparison. That's why you see the drastic effect later on in the video when the saltwater evaporated with the air exposing it and the fan on.
Cool vid. Especially the drone guy, hahaha!
Hi science teacher
Alex Waters mad because your drone got lost?
@@BrokeKnifeLife LOL. . .
Thanks for the info! 😀👍
Arkvexum66 Nomatic not as mad as you
Alex, you need to practice on your drone flying skills because they're a little... rusty. #Alex #SaltSeries
Eastman137 dont be salty...
Your just SALTY that he’s better than you
"... because they're a little..." (Puts on sunglasses.) Rusty.
YEAAAHHH!!!
Hahah
Don't be salty but that wasn't very funny

Me: you okay?
Kid: no
Don't forget the pain cuz of the salt
@@biggusdickus4420 oh heall yea thats gutta hurt
and it has already rusted so he still gets tetanus
@@biggusdickus4420 Actually with the Salt it doesnt hurt that much anymore!
If only they made drones out of H1 steel... #alex
Best. Knife. Video. Ever.
they need oxygen to rust, keeping it submerged for a week, there is no ability to rust.
Hardly
possibly even Best. Video. Ever.
have you even seen cold steel?

This video was fantastic!
they need oxygen to rust. if you keep it submerged for a week, it wont rust. If you splash it with salt water, and then let it dry and do that a few times, it will rust. H1 will rust, my H1 dive knife has rust on it. (pacific salt)
Moth Monma Poppa Bobba Fett Mane III oxygen is in water
Yes, but less than air so it slows down the rusting process a bunch, oxygen is largely bound to hydrogen in water, not free, where in air it takes mainly a free form.
Moth Monma Poppa Bobba Fett Mane III wow u did me an educate thanks😏
wow. :D my friend Bagel is a nautical archaeologist, he's the one who really learnt dat, i just heardt dat. I asked him why the canons on this one ship he was showing me pictures of underwater were so well preserved and not like just piles of rust where canons used to be. that when he told me about dat oxygen adn stuff and i wuz like woah dude knowledge... i cant
Hahaha I laughed so hard at the end of the video. I always love the content but sometimes it's beyond what I expect into a new level of amusement.

This is probably my favorite Blade HQ video. Absolutely awesome. I was expecting the guy to catch it once you threw it up in the air. I about spit my coffee out when it hit the ground. Thanks #Alex
A Guy named Nick Berry posted on Facebook with the tag #IFOUNDTHEBHQSALT that the found the blade in the great salt lake:)
Mohamad Chehab Eddine The guy found it the day the video was posted.
The evaporation test was far more accurate, for me. It's the interaction between salt and air which causes corrosion.
yeah i was gonna mention that but
Why did they not use the same steel for the fittings?
Not true. It's oxygen not air, which is in water. If you notice in the evaporation test the knives started to rust well before the water was evaporated.
This video deserves One Billion views. Awesome work you guys!
Austin Goetz Austin when are you back on knife banter? I only started buying knives 2 months ago, but I too share your problem.

Such a great video.
there needs to be oxygen in order for rust to occur, keeping it submerged for a week will not rust the steel. My personal H1 knife has rust on it from being submerged in salt water, taken out, let dry in oxygen, then resubmerged, let dry etc.

We love you #Alex! You made this video great!
If only Alex was a knife guy, I would be there to pick up the Spyderco Salt Series knife in a heartbeat! H1 steel on the salt series is the best! #Alex
Where are Alexxxxx
Dude they were going to give you your drone back plus an amazing Spyderco Salt series knife! Just think of the opportunity you missed! Your $500+ drone and a rust proof knife from the best knife company out there! #Alex
Alright Alex get this, the Spyderco salt series is so awesome it survived a whole week completely submerged in The Great Salt Lakes with literally no damage whatsoever were as your drone couldn’t even last half second in it so if that doesn’t tell you how awesome it is i don’t know what will.. #Alex
This was a great video guys! I would love a salt blade! And considering that #alex clearly doesn’t need rustproof machines, I’ll put a drone to good use too!!
I swear this should have won an Emmy or something
Awesome video as always! Nicely done. Could you imagine, a knife and a busted up drone!!!! Epic prize combo!😆 #Alex
Great video guys, the knives, the lake, the drone, the production/editing. Nice job! #Alex

elias burgstaller u could also slow the video down on the settings makes it easier to pause on the must see moments 😃
Great video and very interesting to see how the steels reacted.
The production value on this video is off the charts!
The story and testing were fantastic, but wow, the cinematography and editing of this video was incredible. This video was amazing. #Alex
I bought a Dragonfly Salt from you guys, the 1 in the H1 logo completely rusted over. I love the idea of a rust proof voodoo steel, but the fact that they sacrificed the entire knife being completely rust-proof just so that the H1 logo would look cool really takes away from the cool factor
Luke Sorenson it literally wipes off
The timelapse with knives in saltwater is awesome.
Lol you just gave this dude house location to youtube lmaooooo xd
And what? Just having a mobile phone you declare to the world you exact location every minute of your life.
#Alex, thank you for making this channel that much more awesome. Your footage looks great, and your story will live on forever. Much love, brother.
Hahahaha that was amazing! Alex missed out on a great opportunity, it was nice of y'all to even contact him. I'm sure you spent a good amount of time doing it. Great video, hilarious and informative. Heads up Ben after that performance you might have an Oscar coming your way. #Alex #Befreelittlebird
This was a really fun video to watch and also informative ! Not only did I truly enjoy this video, I got the information I was looking for about the Spyderco Salt series. Please encourage this type of review videos for future endeavors, I might just start watching them for the fun of it ! Thanks guys~
nice video blade hq, hope that you could make more video like this one, more power to you guys.
Very well put together video, it was entertaining, keep it up guys!
that place smells like death
Depends on where you are and what time of the year it is. It's actually the shore that smells and not the water.
Blade HQ I went there during the summer and i got like 50ft from the water and was like NOPE
Death... or lemonade. But maybe that was just me? -Ben
You guys are so awesome thanks for the great video and all your hard work
That's freaking amazing, you can only see this kind acts of kindness in the us.. In France ? Never ! If someone find your drone, he would have tried to sell it and keep the images from the memory card lollll
Especially Utah! I live in Utah too, and I can attest that most of the people here are wonderful! 😀

The best video of this year, guys. Thank you!
It is rather the h1 salt knife will take the drone, than Alex will do this. #ALEX

Beautifully filmed video. This is pro quality content, not just a retail site's vlog quality.
Impressed by the knives handeling the salt lake. Spiderco is my favorite knife brand...and i guess this test partly shows why. Great video!

Favorite Blade HQ video the ending was great
man these dudes are funny!! always love the vids... the ending on this was epic!! hahaha!! "be free little bird.." lol
Wow, Leave it to BladeHQ to have the best damn promotional productions in the buisiness. I'm honestly surprised that the salt knives held up so well. I was expecting the hardware to rust out and bust the action. The knives that my Dad and I keep on our sailboat always seem to rust themselves useless by the end of a season. If there is a series of knives to buy for corrosion resistance, this video proves that spyderco's SALT fills the bill. #alex
Spyderco knows rust proof steel, Wyatt. Wait till you see and can get this: www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Caribbean-Compression-Lock--67354
I'm actually kinda blown away. After recently becoming increasingly interested in the chemical composition of different steels... this seriously just blows my mind. I can't think of anything else to say haha #alex

Right? Spyderco truly knows how to do steels! Especially salt series!
materials science is a hellova drug. pretty wild how all of these can be "steel" but act so different

I'm a marine that works in a government building where the longest blade I can carry on me is 2.5". Can you do a video of the top sub 3" blades?
I was looking for a “best short knife” series by them. Think it would do well. Maybe a 2.5 - 3in. I’ve got small hands. 3.5in blades too big for me
The Esee 2.5 fixed blade has several great reviews on RUclips. Well worth a look 👍🏼
Good idea.
OMG that is a ridiculous rule! 🙄
Just bought my first Salt Series 3 weeks ago... great knife. Bought for my son as well. Fun video- thanks

The question mortals could never answer was answered,
Zeus will punish you for this Alex, or should I say Helios!
The Lord Jesus Christ created all things including iron and steel and knives. The word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. Hebrews 4:12. Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ if you have never done so my good friend.

except for knives wont rust with just a week in salt water because of no oxygen, there needs to be oxygen present in order to rust.
