FYI - Back on 74 isn't Ren's song, Ren created the arrangement of this mash-up
Opening - Back on 74 - by Jungle (UK electronic funk/soul group, song released 2023)
Bridge - Naughty bars by Ren (original rap lyrics 2024)
Closing - Message in the bottle - by Sting (The Police, song released 1979)
Aside from the wonderful presentation of Ren's vocal range on display, he's taking 2 songs from 2 different decades, adding in his own original rap, & then he magically combines these "3 different genres" & blends them together seamlessly. 🤯✌

He can do pretty much any rap flow he wants - some aren't what fans of certain styles like. Just for an example, check out The Hunger - it's short, just over 2 minutes, has many flow switches just to show his versatility in that genre. Aside from that, highly recommend his song with Chinchilla, Chalk Outlines (the live version), introduces some of his original singing rather than a cover, and another really spectacular vocalist as well - and his Fred Again Mashup (cover/mashup of 5 songs from UK DJ/EDM Artist/Producer Fred Again) that really shows his vocal chops and guitar skills. Another incredible recent release is a collaboration he did on the song Baggage by Chris Webby - listen for the high notes near the end, that's Ren, and it's pretty mind blowing how well he can sing in that range.

I did not see your reaction to Kujo Beat Down, but I definitely understand your point of view. I'm not much of a rap fan. Ren's rap has slowly grown on me on a song by song basis because I love his word play. I do however, find myself much more drawn to his singing and even his story telling. I agree with comments below that you would probably like his mash up of Fred Again songs or perhaps some of the songs he did with his band The Big Push such as the medieval folk song style called Swan Song. If you are open to bard type story telling I would suggest his trilogy - Jenny's Tale, Screech's Tale and Violet's Tale a commentary on generational abuse. Looking forward to hearing more of your reactions.

o_O First look at Ren 100% should NOT be the Kujo diss! That was purely to let out his frustrations regarding that situation- it only makes sense to fans familiar with that situation. And as one, I can confirm that it was top-tier as a focused piece of art displaying his frustrations. The fact that he composed, performed, mixed & mastered, & directed the video.... I think there was a message there that he will not be purchasing unlimited licenses from other producers in future! ;)
For yourself, you will absolutely enjoy his singing tracks way more than the HipHop side. I enjoy both, but also prefer his singing side. I bought last year's "Sick Boi" HipHop album, & there is some quality work on it. This year's album from him tho, is not HipHop, so you may enjoy the tracks he will begin releasing shortly. He loves that Tele you see him playing here, with John Frusciante probably being his biggest influence playing-wise. He also likes reggae, ska, the Police. Vocally, there isn't much he can't address. While we're waiting for those new tracks from him, I think you'd enjoy the busking vids of him with his band The Big Push. ;)

Danny, thank you for reacting to this video. Ren is not the best singer but he is the best artist. You do not want to listen to Ren if you are looking for sparkling vocal skills and immaculate tone or anything of that nature. Reacting to Ren 'Kujo Beat Down' was probably not the optimal place to start with Ren. That was a specific angry-Ren reaction to someone who attempted to steal from him. Ren is quite theatrical too which can be a turn off for many reaction channels. My suggestion is to check out 'Fred Again Mash Up' by Ren, then some busking videos like 'War Pigs' and 'I Shot the Sherrif'. Remainder of his portfolio of videos is rap or rap like songs. 'Suicide' is a beautiful song but is half rap. 'Freckled Angels' is gorgeous. 'Jessica' is a very old song of Ren's with him singing and it is more a contemporary pop song.

I completely disagree about Ren's singing! He's world-class! His tone, (or tones, he has many) is one of the best features of his voice! He can also sing in multiple voices and styles. He has power, range, a beautiful falsetto and immaculate control! He has an innate understanding of vocal light and shade. It's the delicate little vocal touches and nuances that really set him apart though! Always full of character and with every syllable dripping with genuine emotion, he's a class act! He's vocally way above 99.9% of the dull, unoriginal, characterless, over-produced dross, that passes as 'good' singing nowadays!
I'm not sure what you've been listening to or whether you just don't understand what good singing can consist of. Btw, Ren's catalogue is close to being 50/50 rap/singing, so I don't know what you're on about there? There's been more rap over the last couple of years because his last album was quite deliberately a hip-hop album. Though even during this period there's been plenty of singing too!
Danny, if I were you I's ignore the OP's comments. They obviously haven't got a clue what they're talking about, when it comes to both singing and Ren! Countless numbers of professional vocalists, vocal coaches and industry professionals have all praised Ren's vocals as exceptional! The OP just doesn't get it and is probably more impressed by the likes of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift...

He had seen "Hi Ren" and "Bittersweet Symphony" first but didn't record/upload it. He was not a fan of it 😥 I think not everyone "gets" Ren's art. That's just it.

If you liked this one, I think you will really like the I Shot The Sheriff Medly of songs he did with his band The Big Push. It was during a busking session in Brighton (here in the UK).

I absolutely love and adore and like Ren because he’s so talented and brilliant but also found Kiko Beat down heavy to watch but because I followed all the story as well and I understand he created it to be able to let go of his thoughts on what they did to him, but it was too “heavy”.. so for a starter on what HE REALLY IS… check whatever else, and of course you have to like his singing because he’s so frigging good, and he’s not showing enough here. Check The Big PuSh Nina Simone cover for instance or with Chinchilla. You’re going to be surprised by his singing voice, coming straight from his soul❤
