Yes, recorded live, there's a BTS on Ren's Patreon. the whole thing was 10 days from idea to recording...took a few takes but they had a 2 hour windows to record
@@Cosmo-Kramer In the BTS, the bar owner said they had to open by a certain time. Thus the time crunch. A little graphic popped up in the BTS video, saying, "Challenge accepted." It goes without saying that Ren and his team always work well under pressure. A similar thing happened with Hi Ren--but they were only given half an hour to do their final take (by the landlord who owned the property).
Recorded in Bar Valentino in Brighton. The girls, Sylvia Mwenze and Scarlett Fae are also from Brighton as is the bassist Kai Lacey(I think). It took only 10 days from Ren hearing the song by Jungle, through getting the backing group together to rehearsing and finally shooting the video.

MrLBoyd's reactions are often without the typical pause/rewinding needed to avoid copyright strikes and such that would cause the video to be demonetized. The way he does it, he doesn't have to worry about monetizing the video because it has already been paid for.
Back on 74 is an EDM track by Jungle. Ren just keeps leveling up! He took an EDM song he loves and changed it so it has more of a jazzy/bluesy sound to it throws in naughty bars real quick and transitions into a beautiful stripped down cover of part of an iconic song from The Police and it just works and sounds amazing!!! I can't think of any other artist that can currently do this type of genre bending and performing live. On top of all of that let's film it as a one shot video! If you haven't reacted to Ren's Fred Again Mash up that came out 2 weeks prior to this one, you should definitely react to that one. It's also on another level. (Just for reference it's a song where Ren takes 5 songs from one of his current favorite EDM producers, Fred Again, and creates 1 song from those 5.

It isn't as different as I was expecting but I definitely can hear that Message in a Bottle riff more thru the beginning of the song then I originally realized so I really appreciate you giving me the correct info cuz it motivated me to go check them out back to back
I found the original of this and it is great. Needing to check out more from Jungle. Be sure and check out the one that says official video... Crazy choreography and talent all around there too. There's one version that looks like it's on a award show that they performed. I tried to copy it to my Facebook to share and it won't let me so I'm not sure what that's about about. Possibly I'm in the US and it's a UK thing
It is interesting watching your face in the first few seconds go through so many emotions. It went from ready and skeptical to totally in the groove. Magnificent.
The best part about this is listening to my friends try and choose a genre. Blues, lounge, reggae, ska, rock, rap... they were at it for hours (we had to replay sections over and over the prove a "point"). Eventually the wine ran out. I just say Ren is an artist.. but they seem determined to figure him out.

Ren did give a warning about naughty bars. The filming of Back on 74 by Jungle is a dance in and of itself if you get a chance to watch the BTS of shooting the video. It was live again m8. One of the backing singers 'Sylvia Fae' posted a short on her YT channel of them rehearsing before the final shoot. She's just casually fixing her hair in one of the mirrors while still banging this out.

More often than not, if you aren't getting plosives on a Ren live recording its because he has gone in afterwards and painstakingly editing and adjusted them out manually :P
I’m not sure how many Ren videos you’ve done but he’s the Best musician putting out music today and he’s as versatile as anyone who’s ever lived. Amazing amazing talent. Hopefully you’ll check out more of his work. All his videos are live one takes which is his specialty. Back on 74 is about a year old hit by jungle that blew up on tik tok.

The original is by Jungle who last week won the biggest music award in the UK " The Brits " for best UK band. If you hear the original it is great and much enhanced by the dancers and coolness , what Ren has done is seriously reinvent the track and vibe into something so very special. The original has 20m views 6 months, Ren deserves double that!
Their combined voices sound like budda, chef's kiss! Ren knows how to surround himself with incredible people, and I think the feeling is mutual. Love this song and glad to see MrLBoyd smiling away 😊

Live one-take. Location is Bar Valentino, a 1920's stylized bar in Brighton. The ladies are local talent. The bassist is also local. Collectively they brought this together over a 10 day period when Ren was back in England.

Jungle is not EDM afaik, most of the tunes are made via Instrumental recording. The genres they cover are soul, funk, dance and disco.

The taller of the backup singers is Scarlett Fae another artist that has been hitting it for a while slowly branching out on YT.

Ren does have amazing mic control, I swear he mathematically calculates the inverse square law subconsciously when he sings live
