2:40 I learned my lesson many years ago, when I took a sample of one of my favorite musical joints, and edited it into a nice little loop to use as a wake up ditty on my phone. I grew to hate that particular piece of music, because it began reminding me of that harsh transition from a almost sublime, wistful sleep to a much harsher reality. But I had a idea, and tried something a little different... I sampled the initial bass guitar and claps from this, looped them to last two minutes, and then made a volume curve (not a direct line from beginning to end) that very slowly builds from nothing until about the one minute thirty mark, where it is at around 60 percent; and then goes up to 100 during the last thirty seconds. No harsh beeping that thrusts you out of hopefully a deep sleep, but more a gradual tone that your brain picks up on until it becomes a thing of interest that it wakes you up more gradually. This is my second week of trials, and I'm finding it wonderful. I wake up gradually, as my brain begins to recognize sound, and so far I still love this as much as I initially did. :)
You are so right - better than the original. I think it is the way Ren paints his music with so many shades of emotion that makes him so unique. There are many musical giants who come from that era and I think Ren could do creative magic with anyone’s music and make it his own. Definitely did it with this song!

You're totally right - his vocals were far better than Sting on the original. To be fair Sting was never a God tier vocalist, more of a top tier overall combined singer songwriter, but Ren crushed that retake of Message...and like you said he just pours his soul into everything, writes his own beats, music, does live stuff constantly, essentially directs the videos. Prince is probably the closest I can think of but still not the same. Ren is once in a lifetime and most of his current catalog was when he was really really sick. I believe he's done with the intensive treatment, in LA and working on another album...while putting out weekly content... He may end up being a once in history artist.
