I'm born in Sept of 86. I remember getting my 1st Turtle in around 89-90ish? From my Grandma Jennie ( Dad's Mom) was a Raphael and even to this day Raph has always been my favorite Ninja Turtle special childhood memory to me along with getting my first video game console too from her in Christmas of 92, my Sega Genesis which is also still special to me as well as later my OG Power Ranger figures and Zords I also got from her and my Dad during the 90s. I miss her alot and I miss them days as a kid. Glad some toy companies are going retro again brings back good times in my mind Kyle. Which is a great feeling nowadays with everything crazy going on in the world. Yes I was a Ninja Turtles/ Power Rangers/ Batman Animated Series/ VR Troopers/ Sonic The Hedgehog/ Wrestling ECT kid.

Genghis was one of the first Ninja Turtle figs I had as a kid. Wingnut happened to be one of the last. Too bad Genghis only got 1 other teammate, Napoleon Bonafrog. I Had Napoleon and he looked way different than Genghis as by the time they had gotten a little more exaggerated in the characters appearances.
The sunglasses Genghis Frog is wearing…are they Oakley Frogskin?! 🤣🤣🤣😂😂

I’ve been seeing a lot of these show up at my Walmart and Target stores lately. TMNT has basically taken the spot of MotU, at least at Walmart. It’s so weird, when the basic turtles came out like 2 years ago, they were so hard to find, I was lucky enough to grab Michaelangelo. Now the pegs are clogged with the Pizza Tossin’ and Storage Shell Turtles as well as Baxter, Genghis Frog, Wingnut and a few other random figures from time to time.
I don’t have any nostalgia connected to the vintage TMNT line, but I can appreciate that PlayMates has been reissuing a lot of these older figures. I kind of wish they would “modernize” them a bit, like Mattel has done with Origins, but I guess that’s what the Mutant Mayhem line is for, which I’ve started collecting for my son. I would try collecting this line, if I could afford it, just for that “nostalgia” factor.
