I love Jean's natural voice , it's so soothing and calm☺️ during that era the cast was Henry Cordon -Fred Jean Vanderpyl- Wilma Mel Blanc -Barney and Gay Autterson - Betty. Russi Taylor - Teen Pebbles Michael Sheehan - teen Bamm Bamm.
Daws Butler was actually the first Fred. He appeared in the 1959 pilot "The Flagstones." Interestingly, Alan Reed and his successor Henry Corden did in fact appear in one Flintstones episode together with the latter playing Mr. Loudrock, Fred's antagonistic neighbor.
I can’t believe they didn’t mention that Alan Reed was the original voice. There is no other voice for Fred even though the Brady Bunch ice cream shop owner did his best
Pesho Karivanov I think she was the Nancy Cartwright of back in the day Jean’s voice truly was comforting and very motherly like Nancy she looked lovely
I always love to watch the Flintstones and I still do. Alan Reed he was actually the voice of Fred Flintstone but yet he went to the great Bedrock in the sky in the 1970s.
Henry Corden looks like Hot Lips Hannigan. If that’s the name they used. Can’t remember. Shoobee doo waaah waah. Loved that episode of Fred dancing on his tip toes as Hye Fye.
Henry did a lot more things as the voice of Fred and he performed a lot of other characters for Hanna-Barbera. He was a legitimate voice actor...there are those out there in cyberspace who like to diminish his career since his big break in voice overs came when he took over Fred Flintstone after Alan Reed's death...but Henry's career goes further back than 1977.
Before he voiced Fred Flintstone, Henry Corden voiced the main character in my (at the time) favorite cartoon, Arnie Barkley on THE BARKLEYS, which NBC aired Saturday mornings 1972-73.
Henry created his own Fred Flintstone with a touch of Canadian rasp and essentially made him a cross, between Ralph Kramden and Archie Bunker, if you know what I mean. Henry was originally from Montreal, Quebec, same as Peter Cullen, a.k.a. Optimus Prime!!!
Back between 1977 and 1995, Henry and Jean were Fred & Wilma(Alan Reed was originally Fred)- nowadays, Jeff Bergman and Tress MacNeille are Fred & Wilma!!!
Funny acting like Henry Corden was the man from the original series 25 years before. I do like Henry's Fred but it's a cartoon impression of Reed's original. The original Fred never sounded put on and was pretty much Reeds normal voice.
I actually saw this air when it did back in 1986. I don't think any disrespect was intended to Alan Reed. At that time, I was in my teens, and had some knowledge that Reed had passed (of course, pre-internet where such things could be readily checked and reports on everything are everywhere). My impression during those years was that they seemed to do a lot of tap dancing around the deaths of stars that were particularly beloved by children. It wasn't very nice of them to diminish Reed's legacy in a 25th anniversary show, but they avoided it as if Fred Flintstone himself had passed.
I believe they wanted to keep up the mystique of the voices by having the closest thing to the originals as possible. Corden providec the voice for many classic Flintstones moments and was a legend in his own right. Diehard fans already knew he was not the first voice and casual fans probably didnt really need to know thst information anyhow. It's kind of like when you see a post-1960's Mickey Mouse cartoon and they don't let people know that the voice actor is not "Walt Disney" himself. Many times voice actors receive only minimal credit (if any) in the credits and NEVER on the movie poster.
Henry's Fred Flintstone was more folksy and was influenced by both Jackie Gleason, who was Henry's best friend as well as Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker!!!
He also appeared in one of the episodes of the fifth and final season of the Brady Bunch as the owner of the ice cream store where Marcia was hired to work
Henry Corden wasn't really up to the job of voicing the character. As a kid, I bought a Hanna-Barbera "Flintstones" record that was produced when Allan Reed was still around, but for some reason (probably cheapness), H-B got Henry Corden to do the voice on the record. I swear that at first I couldn't even tell that is was supposed to be Fred Flintstone until he said "I'm Fred Flintstone". I was thinking, "No you're not".
For Jean to be the voice of Wilma for nearly five decades and never sound any different is truly remarkable.

Alan Reed Was The Original Voice Of Fred Flinstone
Yes but when Reed died in 1977, Henry Corden quickly took over the voice job, Corden said that he wasn't imitating Alan Reed while voicing Fred.

@@ThemaddprofI didn't know he did Loudrock. Thanks for letting me know
If only Chris Farley had lived to play him in a movie..
Jean Vander Pyl had a lovely speaking voice.
Pesho Karivanov I think she was the Nancy Cartwright of back in the day Jean’s voice truly was comforting and very motherly like Nancy she looked lovely
And believe it or not, Jean Vander Pyl was my psychologist's aunt!
@@disneyfan8178 I bet they had many interesting stories to tell! No need for "small talk" in their office!
I had the honor of knowing Jean for the last 5 years of her life…one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever known….miss her terribly
She sounds almost like Lindsey Wagner (Bionic Woman).

Boris Karloff and Henry became pretty good friends. Boris pretty much took the young Henry under his wing.
He Is Also The Voice Of Clifford The Big Red Dog (1988).
In fact, he was Fred's singing voice in The Man Called Flintstone (1967) and voiced some minor characters in the original Flintstones series.
Always great seeing those behind the characters TY
My favorite cartoon ever
Hi I’m Kris I love the Flintstones I watch them everyday on my firestick
alan reed is fred always will be
Leeza Gibbons started her career in my hometown hosting PM Magazine.

Tress does a heck of good as wilma it's like Jean lives on and Jeff sounds closer the original Alan Reed than Henry does.

They became a LEGEND!!!
Henry Corden, Although he is not the original voice for Fred, Alan Reed is. Tried his best to fill in a Large pair of shoes.
Henry's Fred Flintstone was more folksy and was influenced by both Jackie Gleason, who was Henry's best friend as well as Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker!!!
She was on a episode of leave it to beaver.
No other cartoon even came close.
Wilma was also Rosie on the Jetsons
Wow I didn't know that
Growing up in the 60s i must say that TV 📺 shows today are goats 🐐 tripe. 😂
Wow!!
Still a great show
She will be missed
Henry Corden was the funny Mr. Babbitt on the Monkees!
Thanks for that info. Funny to me that while I'd think I have no idea who Mr. Babbitt was, I thought instantly...the landlord. Unconscious memory?
He also appeared in one of the episodes of the fifth and final season of the Brady Bunch as the owner of the ice cream store where Marcia was hired to work
Iconic
I'll always favor the real original voice of Fred Flintstone Alan Reed
That's loudrock

No! Not at all! Not even close!
It was Alan Reed
Nobody could ever replace Alan Reed. He was Fred Flintstone. Anyone else was just trying to be an Alan Reed Wannabe.
Who did Dino?
Mel Blanc
Cheese..
wilma looks creepy asf
What...the...FUCK
Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
