In Sweden we call McD for "Donken". McD have accepted the nickname and use it in their ads, for example "Donken Deals". The big difference here is much more vegetarian options and sauces. Lot of sauces.
VG In Germany it is also forbidden to use disposable plastic as food packaging. Only leftover stocks may still be used up, but yes France does a lot more and shows what a state is able to do to protect the environment and to force corporations. Many who say that this restricts economic freedom forget at the same time that someone who opens a company is still a part of society and has to protect it from damage. In the German Basic Law there is a clear sentence "Property obliges" and that means that you have responsibility has towards its employees and society as a whole
The moral of the story is, Europeans are not opposed to American corporations, what we tend to be opposed to is American corporation business practice they do in the US, which a lot of Europeans don't want that crap in the EU countries, and it works, it forces these companies to adapt to the local laws and regulations, sometimes to the degree that the company almost seems like a different company compared to North America. It's what I love about the EU, it's got the bicep, and it's willing to flex it to force companies to change and a lot of Europeans benefit from this a lot more than they realise whereas Americans are really getting the short end of the stick a lot of the time because of the hands-off approach by the government, basically, allowing corporations to get away with a lot more, which usually ends up at the expense of the American people. Also, that meat issue is still going on with the EU and US, I think it's been going on for almost 30 years with a trade war against each other, but it would be almost impossible for the US to win that one because of the broad support among Europeans in wanting higher quality standards, especially when it comes to food, if the EU was to water that down, it wouldn't be a pretty sight, because people across the continent would likely rise up against it. But what I find remarkable is how Americans are willing to put up with such low standards when it comes to food.
Meanwhile in Austria, think all of Europe, the Prices.for a meal at Mc Donalds, Burger King, Subway's,etc...raised that much that I'd rather join a real restaurant instead. (Regular Big Mac with 0,5 Coke and fries is about 12 Dollars)
We can do most things as long as it’s within the law and the laws are a benefit to us all . Some people abuse the laws , but there are imbeciles and trash everywhere As for buying rented properties, you can take on a mortgage, meaning paying part rent and part purchase price. There are restrictions on where anyone can build , planning permission etc , but you know the best things to us all are different East , West , Homes best , you are both very sweet xx
Hmm possibly paper drinking straw in plastic cover? 🤣 hi from EU. EU is stupid and demented, it's always making up crap that often unnecessarily restricts people. Their reasoning is illogical and they're just throwing money away.
Following trials in October 2021, the chain rolled out its first ever plant-based burger to every restaurant across the UK and Ireland in January. Joining forces with Beyond Meat, over three years they developed a patty to add to some other vegan options on their menu.26 Jul 2022
With "we" i'm guessing you mean Europe, and in Europe we most definitely use "GMO's" which means genetically modified organisms, in fact almost the entire world allows them as there hasn't been any negative downsides to these.
Lynda with ur culinary backround u should open a small fast food joint but implementing the EU laws for the care of meat supliers,or design of tablware, etc.
theres plenty of fast food drive throughs throghout europe the thing is theyll generally be a bit away from the city centres or areas with restricted car access, youll find them along motoways or at retail parks/malls and airports. Nothern ireland is filled with drive through tim hortons these days, theyre popping up everywhere
There is 90% of the restaurant that are affordable for everyone a certain degree and there is top place very expensive but food can be very good everywhere , but more home just cook , we go to restaurant with friend or for occasions . mac do is popular in france but in fact a standart familly goes there one a month of little more if kids are annoyings :) its like pizza 2 a month and kebabs 2 a month that make 5 "fast food " 1-2 restaurant in a month the rest of the time we cook and eat at home like civilized peolple ( 4-5 meal are sandwitch in front of tv or pc ) but most of the time we use fork to eat not hands ;)
Personaly i didnt go to mac do since 1995 but i know my familly go sometimes du to is location, a mall ,you leave the place you pass in front of it :)@@thordsalmond8189
Hi Loners! Every french region has it own traditional food. Paris too but it is full of tourists traps like every tourists areas in France. It is also the same thing in every Mc Do in France (but I personally never try yet).
I've been to a brasserie, in Paris, one or two years ago. We ate good food, a full meal with a lot to eat. We paid the full price and it came down to be... Cheaper than if we had eaten at McDonald's. Of course, most restaurants will be more expensive than McDo, but most of the time, you'll be able to find non-fast food restaurants that have prices lower or around the price of fast food. Some of them are even quite fast when it comes to serving you your meal, because they are made for workers (simple menu with few options, for cheap). On the habits of consumption : it's not uncommon to have trouble finding a place to sit down at McDonalds in France. And yes, in some, you do have table service : you order either at the counter or on a big touchscreen, pay, pick up a plastic sign with a number and then go take a sit and wait for your order. However, they say things that leads people to believe that we do not have the option to takeout : we do, we have drive-ins, it's not that uncommon. In some places without much car traffic, you'll even have a counter similar to the inside one, through a window, for pedestrians. The EU is one of the main reasons that we don't have hormones forced into us without us being aware of it. We also have laws to insure some trackability on our meats as well : where the animal was raised, where it was killed, where it was processed...
Ryan were right, I think this is in France. My country take cares of themselves in a minimum. (But whatever, who can care about the French traditions).
Lol, that resembles a promo vid & idealises both McDonalds & the Parisians. There are at least 73 McDos in Paris & most are busy, noisy, smelly places which resemble the feeding time at a zoo more than a chic restaurant. That's probably why they illustrated with animated images & not the real thing.
In Germany you have the choice between reusable dishware or one time usable. They even made a test between BK, McDo & Subway who produces the most trash. The looser was Subway, because the used too much plastic. Even on the covers for mugs. BK was the winner they only used thin paper, wich is recycable. McDo was second place because besides paper the also used cardboard. Still recycable but a bigger amount of trash. But you can choose to get it on reusable dishwareon all 3. You give back after you finished. I personally mostly go to BK. Not because they make less trash, just for the fact that i live between two BK's (i can nearly fall out of the home right into the BK's) and McDo i have a good way to go. Also BK has my favorite burger that i can't get at McDo but i also use it if there is one on my way. Subway i rarely use and i have also a longer way to go. Even longer than McDo. Btw. you don't get cutlery with the one time version. You have to use your own stuff. But mostly you don't need it. I never ate a burger with knife and fork or spoon. It's possible that in some parts of germany it's different. I don't know.
To point out the directive on plastics, the Dutch government directed supermarkets to surcharge products that are in plastic by 5 to 25 eurocents. At the moment this is a strong advice, but they can enforce this directive. (After the upcoming elections.) The meat issue still exists, but the same applies to GMO's. Basically those are not allowed within the EU. Than again if one takes a closer look at what the FDA approves for human consumption one wonders why it is not declared a terrorist organisation.
A expl of differential culture : if a french goes to USA oppening a restaurant he will use the same rules as in france for environement even if its not required , but i dont think mac donalds does it outside of france for the planet , its just because he's forced to here , thats another hypocrysy we find in the american way of thinking . even if we like the people and the culture the capitalism and the exess are very hard to ignore :)
Nice vid Loners. Yeah, we're on the right track with the plastic here in Europe. Most of the additives in American McDonald's is banned here as well. Still, a culinary experience it is NOT.
Joséééé Bovééééé !!! (probably the first time i see him on youtube) Yes we have a rather small number of drives through in France, quite often found outside cities where large malls are located. Also mcdo is actually quite expensive in France and i would assume in europe in general, it's usually a shocker for US tourists to see the prices here. No matter what it's still quite clear to any french people that fast food, not only mcdo, is junk food and is better avoided as much as possible. I'm no expert on the subject, i've probably eaten mcdo only 5 times in my life, but every other year i hear reports on mcdo trying to improve the food quality of their stores, introducing new salads or vegetable fries, whatever that is. Anyways it's most likely that kebab and pizza joints have overthrown mcdo for quite some time now, maybe not in revenue but in numbers no doubt about that. cheers
A McDisease's opened around 20 years ago here where I live in Portugal, near the roundabout of one of the city's main entrances and right across the street from a high school. In the beginning there wasn't a single day that it wasn't jam-packed with people and long queues of cars waiting in the drive-in. With time it started declining and was busier only on weekends. Some months ago, a Burger King opened on the other side of the roundabout, across from the McDisease's. In the first weeks the affluence of people was high but not to the levels of when the McDisease's opened. Recently, a KFC opened on the remaining "corner" of the same roundabout, half-way between the McDisease's and the Burger King. Very little affluence since the begining. Nowadays, you see very few people on any of them at any time of the day but if you go to the restaurants that exist in the vicinity, some of them older than the McDisease's, they're usually packed.
Well, I think I know which one you`re referring to :D Used to go there every friday night. That`s the only McD I ever complained about a cold burger xD
its always weird to me that americans are surprised how european mcdonalds looks like. im german and the buldings are quite fancy with table service and even games u can play. ppl do spend time there a lot, its just like a normal restaurant for us. i mean u do have the machines for ordering without a person or the drive through, but many ppl still wanna sit down and have interactions

All Michelin stars restaurants are not expensive. It depends on the location, ingredients, reputation of the chef and it’s domaine, ingredients, numbers of stars ⭐️, and it is the same everywhere in the world. But you can find great restaurants without stars (sometimes chefs refuse it too) with different prices for exemple « LES GRANDS BUFFETS »(in Narbonne, south ouest of France, close to Spain) unlimited great food around 50€ per person except wines 🍷 it’s the biggest buffet in Europe and biggest cheese 🧀 choice (over 300 🤤).

We have table service in McDonalds in NZ too
