@@susannahmertens3346 I read somewhere that this was an old song, left unfinished when the split all those decades ago! That's why it sounds like their older songs...And I believe it!
No matter the age (or the generation) of the listener, I suspect ABBA reminds of a "nostalgia-kind of world", where things were more simpler, we were more human in our behaviour (I mean the socializing part) etc. Could it be that? (and please try to understand how I mean). It slso has to do with the compositions of the music also (moll) etc. It is indeed, magic.
@Marvin Morawski I think it sounds like a combination of Ring Ring wall of sound, Why Does It Have to be me brass and rock/jive, and Angel Eyes melodies/singing style/smoothness.
First of all: yes, this song makes fun, and yes, it's very similar to "Why Did It Have..." (a little bit faster), BUT: This would have been a perfect B-side for one of the other two singles or as a bonus track on the special edition of "Voyage", but - sorry people - it's NOT worth being the 3rd single two weeks before the release of the first album in 40 years, it's too much ABBA - old - school to represent such an epic comeback.
This song was actually recorded in 1978 before their release of their Voulez-Vouz album. The new recording has new instrumentation but they kept the original vocal recording. So cool
I was determined not to cry, but I am in floods of tears. I am 58 years of age, lost both my parents in the last few years. I am transported back to 1974, when I was learning to use the latest in technology, a Grundig cassette recorder. Ready to press record when Abba started singing Waterloo in the Eurovision song contest. Suddenly I am 11 again. I feel so close to my parents, I can feel them in the room. Thank you Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anni-Frid, you have opened a box of colour, wonder and love in the world.
Richard, I feel the same way. It's like time travel, back to the past, when we were happy carefree kids. And suddenly we realize that 40 years later the world we used to know is gone with the wind. Our parents died, our childhood friends disappeared and we went through tough times and sorrows. The return of Abba is like a bridge between the past and the present... I cried so much when I was listening to their new song "Don't shut me down". They sound the same as years ago...but nothing is the same anymore..
Richard i could not agree more, I too lost my parents but during the 1980s Abba was my therapy, the winner takes it all and the day before you came got me through some hellish times. Now 40 years on Abba are back, like they never even left, the new songs have transported me back to being a teenager with both my parents in happier carefree times. Music can take us on a journey, thats what is happening now Abba mean so much to me and millions of others, Just a Notion is uplifting, hearing the four of them singing is so nostalgic, but when its just Agnetha and Frida in unison WOW. The best thing to happen this year, can't wait for Voyage album and so excited about seeing the concerts next year. 🥰

MY FAVORITE SONG FROM VOYAGE!!!!! It is like a new /old song from them! How can anyone not cry and smile when hearing Agnetha s soprano and Frida belting this tune!!!!!!!!
I really like the new album, but it's lacking something. Back in the 70s there was something very exciting about Abba songs, and most of the tracks on Voyage just don't quite have it. Just a Notion isn't (yet) my favourite song on the album. But it is, perhaps, the only one that has that old feeling of excitement to it. What is it that gives it that? I'd say it's two things. First, it's Agnetha and Frida's voices recorded in the 70s - so perhaps they have just lost that little edge on the new songs. Second, I just love the tinkling of Benny on the piano at the end.
You are right about "yet". Just give it another couple of listens and it's going to settle down in your mind with its old familiar melodic steps fragrant palate of compos.sequences. Eventually it comes in with a good old feeling and a real pleasure.
In a world that often has little joy, the return of ABBA is like the sun coming out from behind the clouds. I know many have sniped about this being a rehash of old stuff masking as new material, but I think most of us fall immediately under the magic of the joyous vocals and uplifting classic ABBA sound. Familiar yet new at the same time, instantly lodged in your brain like any classic ABBA song. We were always blessed to have ABBA, and we are doubly blessed to live through their miraculous return, and to hear them sound just as great - if not better - than ever. I love these people, even if I will never know them, from the bottom of my heart. I only pray they don't disappear on us after this album...this world (actually, any world) will always, always, always need ABBA!

@@dapperdan7612 I read online that Bumblee is in fact a new song and not a reworking of Free As... Of course this is the Internet so could well not be true, especially as most albums feature a song sung by the boys, and it would be great to hear that song in it's completed version 🙂
@@dapperdan7612 I hope not. That would be recycling. The “What a good life” section of Free As A Bumble Bee became “Wasn’t It Good” on I Know Him So Well.
I like ABBA music and was brought up in the 70's and 80's with their music . I'm keeping my fingers cross in hoping this song reach number one in the UK Official Top 40 music charts, But while Ed Sheeran rule the charts there no hope. Youngster today has no taste in music. Even BBC Radio 1 presenters wouldn't play ABBA music. Sad ☹
@@scottpeacock5492 The UK Charts are not about the teenagers leaving their bedrooms, getting a bus and actually being moved enough to buy the record anymore, it's about how many streams your record company can sync up via cloned machines and how American your singers from London can sound, whilst pushing the same political message to children. ABBA we've missed you so much.
Can't stop humming this - after a few listens, I'm hooked. Perfect for tapping your feet or dancing round the room. It's so surreal to have them back in our lives with new music - and an album in just a few weeks. It's like the circle is complete. Abba are a blessing.
Found myself tapping my feet as I read your comment. Takes me back in time. 56 now but ABBA takes me back to getting up early in the cold to do my paper round before school.
I’m also 56, so your comment resonated with me. Isn’t it wonderful to have those feelings of joy and anticipation of a new album release 40 years later.
This is the meanest album ever. you hear it the first time and you think it's just okay. But then it begins to creep into your ears, in your mind, it conquers your whole musical feeling and after a short time you know, this is the greatest, the best the most wonderful compilation of little and bigger and huge gems and you get addicted . Thank you ABBA.
ALL Abba Albums were (or are) ‚just like that‘. I recall back in the 70s, every time I bought a new Abba album from my milk money, I was disappointed after hearing it for the first time. The second time, it was okay. Then more than okay, then sensational. And they stayed like that. just like that. ;)
Hell No !!! I think this album is the one which already conquers my mind at first hearing. All songs are GOATED !!! My Most Favourite album of Abba Easily !!!
It's a little miracle for me to have been eight years old when Visitors was released. I was an eight year old in love with ABBA. Not much has changed except that I'm older and enjoying a new ABBA album that I thought would never happen. There's no real words.

I was impressed with Don't Shut Me Down and Just A Notion. Forty years have passed, but it's exactly ABBA. The best melody and the best harmony. Welcome back ABBA. I've been waiting for you guys.
I don't know how they do it, the songs are already great as is, but when the girls voices come together, something truly special takes place and the music is elevated to a whole new level. This band is something else.
There is unique editing on their voices, taking them up a tiny bit to make that magical sound. They are both incredible singes anyway, but that voice editing gave them the unique sound.
A simple "bouncy" rhythm. It's irresistible! And I love their sweet-as-honey harmonies, and ah-ha-ha's (reminiscent of Angel Eyes). So glad ABBA's back!
In fact they changed this song for angeleyes in the Voulez vous álbum . Probably because It wasnt in the same líne as the rest of the album . More disco
What ABBA has created is something completely unique and it has never happened before in music history. Not only has it been almost 40 years, but their music is a masterpiece well and you can recognize them instantly. I am now 60 years old and still have their first LP and old cassettes that I play on my old turntable here at home. I am extremely grateful that I experienced this moment. You get emotional easily and rightly so.

Music is still great. I dislike comments like this because it does a disservice to the amazing musicians of today that are working just as hard as any previous era of music. My favourite group since childhood...love them. Glad that they're back together. Wish them goodluck!🥰🥰👍
Another great new song! I’m so very happy they are back. Am loving their new songs immensely.
Hi Neil, I noticed that subscribers are not enough for this channel.. at least 10 million
@@anthonyyohan8356 , now that ABBA has done its noble part, it's our job now to help them DRUMBEAT in the whole-wide world of their comeback to inspire this lonely world now hovered by depression.

FINALLY!!! the finished version of this gem from 1978 that we first heard about in 1994. this new album is going to be EPIC! cant wait to get it next month. the future gems and masterpieces are yet to come!! viva ABBA forever!
RIGHT!!! I especially can’t wait for Bumblebee which I do believe is their finished version of Free As A Bumblebee (a truly marvelous demo even if it wasn’t finished)!! 😄
Wait WHT?!!!!!!
@@dapperdan7612 I read online that Bumblee is in fact a new song and not a reworking of Free As... Of course this is the Internet so could well not be true, especially as most albums feature a song sung by the boys, and it would be great to hear that song in it's completed version 🙂
Yes, from the "ABBA Undeleted" set.
@@dapperdan7612 I hope not. That would be recycling. The “What a good life” section of Free As A Bumble Bee became “Wasn’t It Good” on I Know Him So Well.
Las voces de frida y agnetha son angelicales
One of the greatest groups ever. ABBA has been in my life since the 70’s.
Yes, i would put them up there with The Beatles and The Stones.
ME TOO PAM...SO GREAT THEY ARE BACK! NEEDED!
The beautifully indescribable blending of Agnetha’s and Frida’s voice transcends beyond human happiness
Exactly!!
Pure mirical!
ABBA demonstrate how good pop music can be with this absolutely joyous tune.
It's so utterly and totally wonderful.
Words can't express how much I love them.
This song just gets better with every play..
Yes, it does!!
Yeah... Just a simple Pop/Love song...!!! And I love it..!! 😉👍
That happens to a lot of ABBA songs, they have complex layers and reward multiple listenings.
@@diy_lothar4422 this!
Absolutely
After 40 years later i never would imagine hearing ABBA again. This song makes me so glad that ABBA decide to bring out another hit. Good going ABBA!!
I still think people haven’t comprehended how huge ABBA really was and still is!!! Amazing!! Finally a chapter in our lives will be completed!
We belong to that generation that understands all this. How wonderful is that!
Not yet! Who knows what else might happen later?
I like ABBA music and was brought up in the 70's and 80's with their music . I'm keeping my fingers cross in hoping this song reach number one in the UK Official Top 40 music charts, But while Ed Sheeran rule the charts there no hope. Youngster today has no taste in music. Even BBC Radio 1 presenters wouldn't play ABBA music. Sad ☹
@@scottpeacock5492 I agree! Well, ABBA reached week number 1,000 in the U.K top 100 😍 First group in history to achieve that! ❤🅰️🅱️🅱️🅰️❤
I guess I'm the only one from the younger generation who has been waiting for their new album and who adores ABBA...
I born in 2004 maybe we're 2
Don't u worry. You're still 2 in some thousands all over the globe except you don;t know it. .Abba is panGenerational after all.
A step back in time to 70s ABBA, what a fabulous song, ABBA will live on forever, true legends of music.
So true!!!!!
Danke ABBA 👍😘
ABBA is back after 40 years, wow!
Exactly what i thought the Moment it began.
1978
I’m so excited for this album!!! It comes out 4 days before my birthday!!! Best birthday gift ever!!
It comes out two days after mine. Mine is November 3rd. Best birthday gift ever indeed!!!
@@CreativaArtly happy early birthday!
Happy early birthday! Mine was Oct. 19th
That's wonderful! I got this song as my birthday gift as well, I'm so blessed (•‿•)
Happy birthday!
Wonderful!!!
In dark times, ABBA let the sun shine.
Absolutely true
How do you spell legends? ABBA. Their music just gets better and better.
ABBA is God's gift to the world. What joy they have given the world!
Can't stop humming this - after a few listens, I'm hooked. Perfect for tapping your feet or dancing round the room. It's so surreal to have them back in our lives with new music - and an album in just a few weeks. I feel like I'm 10 years old again and waiting for Arrival to be released - I got that album for my 11th birthday just after it was released. I will get Voyage as my 56th birthday gift. It's like the circle is complete. Abba are a blessing.
Found myself tapping my feet as I read your comment. Takes me back in time. 56 now but ABBA takes me back to getting up early in the cold to do my paper round before school.
Lovely song but it is 42 years old but i'd not heard it before, was going to be on the Voules Vous album in 79.
As a 56 year old I, I have the same sentiments!
I’m also 56, so your comment resonated with me. Isn’t it wonderful to have those feelings of joy and anticipation of a new album release 40 years later.
So reminds me off being 4 yrs old in 1979 watching Top of the pops
This is the meanest album ever. you hear it the first time and you think it's just okay. But then it begins to creep into your ears, in your mind, it conquers your whole musical feeling and after a short time you know, this is the greatest, the best the most wonderful compilation of little and bigger and huge gems and you get addicted . Thank you ABBA.
Ich bin von deine gleiche Meinung. Voyage gehts in die Seele und Herz . Es ist ein Meisterwerk
@@AM-nz6pn this is my favorite album as well I love voyage I bought the CD but have no player anymore just to contribute
Once in a lifetime
Dreams come true.
A timeless masterpiece in any musical era.
It simply feels time has not gone by... There's just something unexplainablly soothing about Abba's songs. ♥️
@Rustem Abdullin Indeed, it has!
👌🏻👁👌🏻
The way Agnetha sings "hello" steals the heart. Benny's keyboard flourish in the last :30 is sublime and the whole ending evokes a holiday festival.
ABBA 2021 - 2024 ❤
There's something about ABBA that's making their songs timeless........ simply love them......
That piano opening is killer! Makes me want to boogie across the room!
Have the courage to do it
Go for it! Get on down!
I knew, they'd release this one day ... + voyage is a triumph ! 🌈💚xx.
I actually just Reacted to "I Still Have Faith in You" & ABBA Voyage - Mini Documentary! I am NOT listening to this one yet, as I will be reacting to it soon! This literally saved me from drowning loneliness, sadness. The whole ABBA comeback. Thank you for the music 😭
Makes me young and beautiful and carefree again
Wherever there are ABBA fans, you are not alone x
🤗
wonderful music.. wonderful voices..amazing!!
ABBA are UNIQUE 👏
Girls= female children
Women= Adult females
There is unique editing on their voices, taking them up a tiny bit to make that magical sound. They are both incredible singes anyway, but that voice editing gave them the unique sound.
@@xymonau2468 The girls totally worked their magic LIVE countless times tho.
Dan, very well said! Amen to that true Statement! They are uniquely special in every way.. ABBA was sent by the Viking Gods.. 🙂👍❤🎶
This Song is bringing back the ABBA-Sound and much of nostalgic moments for millions of people
''Say 'hello'.'' Just beautiful
Great to have them back in this crazy world.

"Just a notion" I think I'm going to like this song. Such a catchy tune. Welcome back ABBA.
Just when the world needed them most, they returned!!!!!!!!!!! This song reflects the nostalgia from the 70's (in fact this song ís from the 70's).
Long live ABBA
So glad they released this great song after a long time. ABBA 4 EVER!
A simple "bouncy" rhythm. It's irresistible! And I love their sweet-as-honey harmonies, and ah-ha-ha's (reminiscent of Angel Eyes). So glad ABBA's back!
Nothing ABBA have ever created is simple. Benny and Bjorn are masters at musical structure.
In fact they changed this song for angeleyes in the Voulez vous álbum . Probably because It wasnt in the same líne as the rest of the album . More disco
According to iTunes I've only listened to this 71 times already today. Have to fire it up again😂
This song is so wonderful and it is a big hit number one, and i never get tired of listening to it every day every minute every moment
❤❤❤
wie schön und erfrischend in Zeiten wie diesen, ABBA auch jetzt wieder ein TRAUM
Amen to that true Statement!! VIva ABBA!
ABBA...a tonic for humanity .🤩...IRELAND.
Uff u Lucky jee . I had all their albums when kid and lots of their singles too but i started to leaned them to people and all dissapired
Sono un coetaneo di Agnetha e li seguo da sempre. Credevo ormai che avessero chiuso nel 1982. Invece sono tornati più bravi di allora, ed io sono ringiovanito di 40 anni , insieme a loro....! Grazie splendidi adorati Abba. Un saluto dall'Italia .

So glad they are making music again. 🙂🙂🙂

Did they at least realize how much the world had missed them over the past 40 years?
ABBA can do no wrong. This song is throw back to a time when music was pure and simple. I can’t wait for voyage to be released! Much ❤️ from 🇺🇸
Indeed, when music was pure and we really enjoyed it. Thank you.
With gorgeous production, the piano 😍
It's not a throwback. It was written back then. The voices are from the original recording from 1978, but they've re-recorded the music.
Music is still great. I dislike comments like this because it does a disservice to the amazing musicians of today that are working just as hard as any previous era of music. It's fine to love and enjoy a particular era or music but please don't talk down on this era just because you aren't hearing all the amazing plurality of artists out there at the moment.
"a time when music was pure and simple."
Have you hear the songs titled Black Sabbath and Electric Funeral from 1970?
This track alone is why I love Abba, they could have just released this and I would have been Happy. Oh that piano pure joy.
