What's so awesome about this is even years ago he remained the same even when he was president which was the most prestige office you can hold in our country him talking right here would be the same way he would talk in any other interview as commander-in-chief

No matter what the haters say, he comes across as very sincere and authentic. Before he ran for office he showed a heart for service and for helping others. God bless him and family. only thoose who are evil hate good

I agree. The transformation from the time of this interview is amazing. He goes from being caring and genuinely concerned for others, to bragging about being good at killing people, including a 16-year-old American citizen, to breaking almost all of his campaign promises without even trying to keep them, without explanation or apology, to dividing the country along race lines. Incredible.

Barack Obama's father was a great speaker and great orator, which is what helped shape President Obama's superb speaking and oratory. As President Obama says above, his father was from Kenya, in East Africa, where I am also from, and President Obama's father had the same names as his son.
Barack Obama Sr. (President Obama's father), had four wives in his lifetime, and they were Kezia, Ann (President Obama's mother), Ruth and Jael. Ann and Ruth were both White Americans, and Ruth is still alive, and still lives here in Kenya, though Barack Sr. and Ruth got divorced here in Kenya, and Ruth got married again to a Kenyan journalist called Simeon Ndesanjo.
Barack Sr. left the USA for Kenya not long after Barack Jr. was born in 1961, and father and son met only once in December 1971 in Hawaii, USA, where Barack Jr. was living with his maternal grandparents Stanley and Madelyn Dunham, at the time. Barack Jr.'s mother, Ann, was also present during the one month visit of December 1971 by Barack Sr. to Hawaii, USA.
During the said one month visit of December 1971 by Barack Sr., Barack Sr. gave a speech on Africa and Kenya to teachers and students of Barack's school at the time, that is, Punahou School in Hawaii. Barack Jr. was also present when his father gave his speech at Punahou School.
It was not a written speech, and the oratory, eloquence and delivery of Barack Sr.'s speech brought the house down. All in attendance were impressed, including Barack Jr., and thereafter, Barack Jr. got continuous compliments about his father from teachers and students at Punahou School.
Barack Jr. was going through an identity crisis at the time. His father was a Black Kenyan, his mother was a White American, but America defined Barack Jr. as a Black American, not a half-Black and half-White. Barack Jr.'s maternal grandparents were White, maternal grandparents who brought him up and who he owes a lot, yet this was not factored into how America defined Barack Jr. As far as America was concerned, Barack Jr. was a Black American, regardless of his White American mother, or his White American maternal grandparents who brought him up.
Had Barack Jr. returned back to Kenya as either a boy or a teenager, he would have been categorised here as a "Mzungu" (a White), not half-Black and half-White, but as a "Mzungu." "Mzungu" is Kiswahili for a White person. Why do I say this? As long as you have an American accent or a British accent here in Kenya, regardless of what race you are, you are referred to as a "Mzungu." The same applies elsewhere in Africa, though there are different terms for White people in different parts of Africa.
So to all intents and purposes, Barack Jr. was Black American to America, and to Kenya, and Africa at large, he was a "Mzungu."
So the speech that Barack Sr. gave at Punahou School in December 1971, infused pride, dignity and identity in Barack Jr. and also inspired Barack Jr. to become as good a speaker and an orator as his father, Barack Sr. After his father's speech at Punahou School in December 1971, Barack Jr. shied less and less from the half-Black in him, and more and more embraced Black culture.
Barack Sr. returned back to Kenya after December 1971 and father and son never met again until Barack Sr. passed away in a road accident in November 1982.
Father and son did however write letters to each other between December 1971 and November 1982. In one of the letters, Barack Jr. asked Barack Sr. what he, Barack Jr., would become in life. Barack Sr. answered using a saying from Kenya's Luo community, which both Barack Sr. and Barack Jr. are from, the saying being, "A river eventually settles at a certain level."
Quite "a river" Barack Jr. turned out to be, right?
Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 19th December 2024.

What are black people doing for themselves?

    • @sharrell86
      @sharrell86 6 лет назад +15

President Obama was a great president. He uplifted all of America from a recession and prevented a Depression which black folks most definitely benefited from. Pell grants, medicaid expansion, ACA subsidies, HBCU funding, My Brother's Keeper, Federal Interagency Law Enforcement Equipment Working Group, "Banning the Box", and much more.
What he didn't do was go into black neighborhoods and prevent black folks from shooting each other, cleaning up the blithe we create, or force black fathers to take care of their kids.
Black people need to stop looking for handouts, blaming everybody for their problems, and start uplifting themselves. Obama was a great president for all people including the black community. But just because not all black people overcame their hardships or because he dared to take interest in non-black issues, you whine (and lie) like he's not done anything. Get over yourself.
As a black woman, I find it insulting that black people keep telling the world that we NEED the government to take care of us and putting down the nation's first black president. Do better!
Also, as you can see here, President Obama was outfront on social issues from a young age. Most black folks don't even take the time to vote nevermind volunteer in the communities or do a fraction of what PBO did as a youth. So what we need are more Obamas in the black communities, not fewer. It's easy to whine on social media about what someone else hasn't done. What have YOU done?

Wow. I was ten years old. What did I know back then about quotes. They say the more languages you know the more of a human you are. I love literature and it just happened that there was a lot of literature written in different languages. So when you add a language or two and read all the books written in different languages you become more of a human the rest were less of a human? Today a high school dropout in US can get a decent job and even open a business. What's cool about all these? A president by law does not have to have a degree to be elected.

@@colincinellareviews216 80% of Trump's campaign platform was the same as Obama's.
Obama ran on ending the Middle East wars, then he started 2 new ones. 8 years later Trump runs on getting out of the Middle East.
Obama ran on ending the influence of special interests on government, and on keeping Washington insiders out of his administration. Within a week of winning the election he began naming his cabinet, which was comprised of Washington insiders, including Hillary Clinton and Larry Summers. 8 years later Trump ran on the same thing --- draining the swamp.
Obama ran on reducing our national debt --- he said the fact that Bush had doubled the debt was irresponsible and was going to hurt our children. Obama proceeded to himself double the debt from $10 trillion to $20 trillion. 8 years later Trump ran on reducing the national debt.
Obama ran on doing something about the healthcare system. Obamacare ending up increasing healthcare costs substantially, rather than accomplishing his goal of having "your monthly insurance premium costing the same as your monthly cell phone bill". Eight years later Trump ran on improving healthcare, but his proposed solution differed --- he wanted to break up intra-State insurance monopolies to create competition and drive prices down. He also wanted to address exorbitant drug prices. He agreed with Obamacare's features of not allowing insurance companies to deny care due to preexisting conditions, and he also agreed with allowing families to insure their kids up to the age of 26. He disagreed with the individual mandate and eliminated it.
Obama ran on creating jobs for the working class. He instead named Jeff Immelt as his jobs Czar --- a guy who was THE national champion for the practice of outsourcing to China. 8 years later Trump ran on creating jobs for the working class.
      I'll stop there.
