After hearing President Obama discuss world issues in such depth and clarity it is literally a miracle that we all survived Bush's presidency.

RUclipsExplorer Its really frigtening and dissapointing that a president of 1 country, talks about taking down governments of foreign countries instead of talking about whats the us needs.. Obama was not ellected by the planet.. just by Us citizens.. The Us is not the worlds police.. In that matter there is The UN.. wich obviously needs a change.

Great interview! It is so good to see a politician, especially the president, in an earnest long conversation like this, not in some sensationalized debate or 30 second cut.

  • @ShiningEyeBrigade

Important to remember a time when a President could intelligently and openly (extremely) discuss and explain the complexities of the world without pushing their personal political agenda. Especially support his view that “our goal is, among other things, to help set up international institutions and norms.”

    • @fabianschneider1964

There's no way - even on his "best" day - you'd get an interview like this with Obama's successor. Could you IMAGINE him delving into these issues with this much depth, background and articulation? Sigh..... I MISS having a president who knew what he was talking about, and sounded like it.

You can tell that Obama isn't talking to Friedman but to the Iraqis and Kurds. I think that these are things that the President has told them in private, maybe through diplomats, and that this interview was to show that he means it. This is achieved by Obama coming out public and essentially "burning the bridge" of the idea that the US will always bail them out. That's why he chose to do the interview with this gentleman, Friedman, someone who'll let Obama speak and will be compliant.

Barack Obama is at his zenith when he is speaking about people and bringing two divided sides together. My hope is that when he leaves the Oval Office, he will work on Civil Rights in America. I believe that he would be magnificent as the next Martin Luther King - as the next true leader and the dynamic impetus behind a cohesive, true ''Movement''. He's the most natural presence in whatever room he happens to be in, he commands respect wherever he goes and people have confidence in his views, opinions and decisions.

    • @ShiningEyeBrigade
      @ShiningEyeBrigade 5 лет назад

I agree wholeheartedly that it should be a last resort. Not all Americans are eager for military force. There is a large peace movement here. I think the reason some Americans are eager here is, partly, an overconfidence that our military can solve some of these problems based on past victories and our financial power. It seems a simple direct solution. The reality, as President Obama explains so well, is a long term solution requires more than military, but supporting democracies, bringing people together where possible, and their ability to lead re: their own security. But I think many people don’t believe that harder solution will ever be successful.
Of course, none of this discusses the moral issues, which for me and many Americans are just as important.

To manipulate a 3 year old boy to believe he is a girl is extreme, and to manipulate a three year old little girl to believe she is a boy is also extreme, and the only one who does something like that is a pedophile with psychiatric problems. They also have a spiritual heart condition that is a huge problem. That is the difference between evil and good. The legal age of these kind of decisions is 18, not under that age, lest it be child abuse.

America hesitated Obama's long-term political stay, too much scholar in reality of discipline in politics stated fear in the hearts of then America, they failed the glamour of the talented Barack Obama. I don't like Duck tales. At least Obama is required by me in India.

Here's my piece of advice for being a powerful leader. At high level don't focus on trends or something that's gone through an iteration talk about the next step. Thats all I do when I write something it's painful scary andrelieving❤❤🎉🎉 try it

It is good that Obama is talking about the world, something he has tried and succeeded in some ways to destroy.

@@mcdeemugs4472 I don't think Nestor was serious - just snarky. Sad, for it takes intelligence, a willingness to actually listen and learn, and an actual grasp of English to be able to follow Obama's brilliant, in depth knowledge of world affairs. Friedman is totally matched if not outmatched by Obama here, and that's not nothing - and he doesn't mind at all. Friedman is brilliant in his own way.
