Gundecha Brothers received conventional university education and learned the Dhrupad vocal art under the renowned Dhrupad vocalist Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar and also with Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar (the distinguished performer of Rudra-Vina) in Dhrupad Kendra, Bhopal.

Om Shanti, please be born again and enlighten us with your divine musical gift, Ramakantji
I've listened to a lot of Dhrupad and Indian classical music over the last 47 years since I first fell in love with it. Without a doubt, this is some of the best! Wow!
I don't know what magic is in this. I had a bad headache from the morning. I was almost inching towards aspirin. Halfway into this sublime bliss, headache gone!!
FOR ME TOO. TOTAL MOOD OFF TODAY. NOW REJUVENATED. MY GOD , THIS MUSIC WAS DIVINE
@Yudhisthir dharma hahahaha.....chal kuch to achaa hi huaa
@Yudhisthir dharma Chee yar ! 🤣🤣
honestly? You know how we 'feel' different music chords differently? That's because our body resonates and tenses differently to each one. They're singing things that get the little muscles in your face and head to unclench.
I remember how you told me how much you love Bhoopali...please sing through the winds wherever you are now...missing you Ramakantji...🙏🌠
❤
This is ancient music, patriarch to all what is heard now-a-days.It is meant to soothe and satiate the soul.Though Indian in origin it is meant for all, Vasudeiva kutumbakam in its true sense. The ancients knew no borders.Enjoy the sublime.
@YSV Rao while, i knew the OC had exaggerated a little bit, in his flow of emotion, I was certain that as soon as i open the blue highlight pointer saying "view reply", it will be someone trying to pour self hate vitriol on his emotional flow. All in the name of narrative or something; unwilling to let go of a fellow brother's inaccuracy, and share the appreciation for the transcendental space which this music undoubtedly creates..
Lo and behold, I find you, exactly the kind of comment i was hoping for.
Nice to meet you! Namaste :)
its not ancient its medieval gentleman.
Love
@@allenturing3080 , Go through history it seems mediveal because most origional great Sadhus, saints and brahmins were hunted and killed during Mughal invasion, only few in south survived. In the north most of them converted and became muslims to save this artform. if you go back to trace roots of all the classical musicans(most of them muslims), you will trace their root to Tansen and Baiju Bawara. who in turn trace their root to their guru Swami Haridas.
@@vagaboundHarish bro that's medieval .....that's mughal time
Sadly Ramakant ji left us on 13 november 2019.A great loss to the hindustani classical music tradition.May his soul rest in piece...
A great loss... May he rest in peace
not "piece" but "peace".
I think he died on 8 November... and even more sadly, both brothers have been accused of sexual harassment. The music is sublime.
Peace*
He was a rapist. All three are actually. www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-56523999
This piece of art should win grammy award.
Grammy... No. This is so much more superior
This is beyond Grammy
This music comes from a divine realm, grammy award is rooted in samsara. Do not mix those two realities.
Grammy will take millions of years to reach this level
Not easy to grasp for Grammy level
This is why I love India.
so damn amazing!!!! no wonder they said "we can find god through music... and this is just the alap... not even the main song...
this is alap..followed by jod and jhaala
@David Lumsden Indeed, and it takes the center stage particularly in dagarvani dhrupad.
Sa re ga pa da sa - Sa da pa ga re sa - These swaras cannot be dwelved deeper into ! Wonderful music ! Thanks for uploading !
Like a musical manifestation of our Universe
Hi Roddy,
I found your comment very interesting. One of the stories I have heard about Dhrupad style of singing is that 'these' sounds were the sounds which existed (or created) in the beginning of time (when the universe was created) - and that the artists are just attempting to recreate those sounds. So in that sense, what you 'felt' aligns with the origin stories of this singing style. I had heard Gundecha brothers almost 20 years ago at St Xavier college Indian Classical music festival. Listening to this music live is a totally surreal experience. They were singing it during very early morning (the prescribed time for this type of singing, I think). You can actually go in deep trance/meditation while listening to this music. It is other worldly. Cheers.

@@hrkvid When u listen to other music, you might feel like dancing but this bring stillness in the body. Sadhguru shares amazing story about dhrupad.
When we were growing up, our home was steeped in Carnatic music. It was so much a part of the very air that we breathed. My father also appreciated Carnatic music in a big way, but we were growing up on Rolling Stones, which he could not stand! He would be sitting with the newspaper or reading a book or something, and we would turn on the western music slowly. He would be too absorbed in the day’s news and we would turn up the volume gradually. We knew he disliked this music but his foot would unknowingly start tapping. Then we would catch him and say, “Look at your foot, you like it! You like it!” The nature of that rhythm is such that the body moves. There are other types of music where your body will become still. Particularly dhrupad music is of that nature. Generally, dhrupad has no words, they will go off endlessly with just one aa. They can do aaaa for six hours - just one sound! If you keep listening, you can simply sit still because the music is designed to make you still.
Rhythm can be of many different levels. If it is the rhythm of the body, it is one way. If you touch that of the mind, it will be in a certain way. If you touch that of the inner energies it will be a different way. If the rhythm touches the deepest core, if you find the rhythm of a certain dimension of existence, one becomes naturally meditative. In a way, that is what you are trying to do with all the kriyas and meditations. It is just an effort to get into that rhythm - a rhythm of stillness, which is the ultimate rhythm. If it is still, where is the rhythm? That is the rhythm that is anaadhi (beginning-less). Every sound has a beginning and an end. But the sound that emanates from the stillness has no beginning and no end.
Right. Feels like air, clouds moving gently within.
Nature outside feels inside.
I listened to this while smoking a joint and I felt the music in my entire body like the sounds were pulsing through me gently, bringing my heart rate down, slowing my breathing and a weightless sensation and sleep like stillness I literally felt so connected to everything and everyone and the universe as a whole it was like an enlightenment almost
you just close your eyes and it will take you into unknown..Amazing..
Brothers always make the best bands!
Superb. Ancient style of Dhrupad is unbeatable. Divine is the word I would say. So well presented by Gundecha brothers.
Utterly superb, just --- I'm speechless --- stunned by such beauty.

Second Part of Performance - ruclips.net/video/J9c-9f1jLD8/видео.html
thank you so very much for making complete this beautiful raga! These wonderful performances make reviving my memories of Amsterdam concerts by the Dagar Brothers, late sixties or early seventies, shaping in the air (sometimes loudless) sounds with their hands, during fascinating singing and gesturing. And making curious about the texts they are singing...
Thanks Rishi.
Really Indian classical music is voice of God 🙏🚩
Kya baat hai..i feel stable

wow such a great music . Thanks to upsc Art and culture chapter . Today only I got to know about this type of music
divine!
Really Amazing.
My all time favourite rendition of my favourite raga. The brothers have rendered a timeless, magnificent Bhoopali - this is one for the ages.
Ancient utterances of Vedic times resonate in our present. There is a melancholic, haunting beauty in their plaintive melody. Images of sages meditating in the mountains flast past in the minds eye. The rhythmic, pulsating chants bring forth gentle streams that gather strength slowly building to a powerful, crescendo.
Waah. Really. Wonderful
Here the views shud be 5 10 M. The real Bliss..
Really excellent perfomance they are serrious in singing
Divine and surreal...
So so good, can just listen on and on.
Yup, This is the essential quality of dhrupad: it bring stillness in body. You won't be bored even after six hours.
