It doesn't work, all sentences are numbered in text. Why??

If I understand you correctly, your sentences are probably formatted as headings, not normal text. Mark those sentences and look under Home tab in Styles section to see if normal or heading is marked. Only chapter titles must be headings, and the text must be normal.
