  • RUclips is shifting from authentic, creator-driven content to a flood of AI-generated videos, leaving originality and human connection behind. Are we losing the soul of content creation. #RUclipsContent #AICreators #OriginalContent #ContentCreation #RUclipsAlgorithm

I've got no AI garbage in my recommendations, but RUclips has recommended me your video. So it's not all that bad with the algorithm.

What I'm worried about is the sheer volume that is able to be produced this subpar Ai stuff. Before it was limited to companies that had to hire a bunch of artists to pump out content farming videos every day. Now anyone can do it , and so the platform would become just absolutely saturated. I have no idea how I've managed to stay away from it. (I don't get a lot of AI stuff in my feed)

I fear that if current AI systems are built upon the totality of our current knowledge that as we become increasingly reliant on AI that we will stop progressing and our desire to explore and discover more will disappear. Then we'll stagnate as a civilization.

It comes to mind that the the ai takeover that will happen isn't the bombastic kill all humans that we imagine.
Just a slow deterioration while we become more and more dependent on it

this kind of video is so so so needed. you said everything i've been thinking the past few months. everything has become so fake and unappetizing. really enjoyed this video, keep it up. i know it can feel like an uphill battle with the current state of this platform.

I am not the only one who noticed smaller channels showing more frequently in Recommended! This a great change. Before it was all overedited, hyperactive, sensationalized garbage from 'big' RUclipsrs. I never thought that the reason could be the influx of AI slop, but that makes sense.
I always click away when I see it's an AI channel, but it's getting so good that it's becoming harder to tell. At this point if there isn't a talking face on webcam I just click away. Tired of the slop. Have seen hallucinated content too (misinformation). This is only a temporary fix because AI will start generating realistic faces with movement. Then we're screwed!
The thing is a LOT of people are dumb. Or they're old/children who are ignorant and they'll continue to watch/bolster the AI slop. Thanks for the candid video. Good content! Good luck on your channel.

It almost seems like RUclips is pushing AI slop more than real videos, constantly am recommended ai videos with very few views from channels I have never watched

I was thinking that we should maintain some sort of ai slop channel id master list, so that we can use tools like BlockTube to block ai slop channels. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone else who did this. I have just been blocking any ai slop channels I've come across.

Wonder if one day as this continues to get out of hand if RUclips will be able to at least detect, tag, and watermark channels that have been made 100% by AI

The nice thing about videos rather than text articles is that it's much easier to tell when it's AI generated. If tend to instantly click away from a video when I realise it's AI generated. I also think the feed algorithm tends to be pretty good at promoting real actual channels made by humans. If you are seeing these videos it's probably because like you say they are so easy to generate that they can flood the landscape. Until they become indistinguishable from human made videos (how would an AI show you how to unblock a sink for example?) then it will probably be enough to click away from them and hope the algorithm sees that as a negative mark.

It's a tool that can help people without creative skills express themselves. For instance, I write songs and AI turns them into music. I do this for fun. I think people get upset when the internet gets flooded with AI content with the blatant purpose of making money.
I think in the coming years, having a human connection with your audience will be one of the most important aspects of growing a channel, or standing out as a creator.

100% and that’s a fair point! I think as a tool to support your craft it makes sense - but like you said it comes down to the intent behind the usage 👍

It's replacing my feed aswell, I hate it. I don't understand how people who use it don't realize that if this isn't stopped right now we're gone and replaced and sincerity is gone. nothing is real anymore

Hello, thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. Your video just popped up and I clicked on it. I feel the same and I think it will only get worse in the near future. People are so "obsessed" with this AI technology because maybe they have hopes to find a life hack. They forget that you need to gain real life experience in order to become a better "you". All the best to you! Greetings from Germany.

The problem is people watching those ai training videos are looking for a quick buck and end up producing ai garbage that no one wants to watch which then in turn, makes people think ai content is bad in general. Actually it’s possible to make incredible and beautiful looking ai videos that people would watch if executed correctly. People are too damn lazy and they have no idea what good content is. The ai is not the problem, it’s the content creators

I didn't listen to any of this, I just scrolled to the end to see if he folded into a pretzel or surreal stuff started appearing in the room, ironically showing us that he has joined the ranks of the AI channels. That would've been hilarious. Great job combatting AI content with real content of you just sitting at a table and freeform complaining in as boring of a manner as possible, illustrating to us that maybe the real human content was so milquetoast that it made it easy for AI to take it over. Good luck getting more than 25 subscribers starting with this kind of crap.
EDIT: This entire channel is grim. Account created in 2011, a few videos from a year ago that try to tap into that "self-help influencer" trend that has pervaded youtube. Bare minimum effort on thumbnails. Then a major gap in the video output, and suddenly churning out videos where he just complains about trends he doesn't like at the exact same dining room table in his apartment. My guess... freshly-divorced divorced dad who tries desperately to "Crush it" with work, couldn't survive the hustle, and decided "hey, maybe I'll try that passive income thing while I simultaneously work a 9-5 to afford alimony and child support." Turns his ancient youtube account into a "Rebuilding my life... and also crushing it! Keep listening to me to become a success!" type of channel. I might be a little off, but that's just the vibe I get.

I hope you aren't tarring us all with the same brush. I don't make "slop" - I make decent content which is near fully AI generated. I wish people would stop using that ridiculous term "slop". Like any tool, it depends how you use it. Over the decades there's been plenty of Photoshop "slop", for instance. I make no money because I am not pushing out a video a day. That's because I spend a lot of time (and money) rather than just pressing a button. Some of my work is experimental, but some of it is properly scripted and I take the time to get as good a result as possible. The algorithm doesn't really recommend my videos, so you might have a point. The more effort you put in, the less likely your efforts will be appreciated.

A couple other comments made some great points and this is a good one as well - I’m all for using AI as a tool (e.g. help create music) as a supplement to something authentic - but not 100% replace everything. There’s so many faceless channels that are going off purely generated AI scripts that it’s become over saturated. I think the main thing is it should be used as a tool - not a replacement

    • @cbnewham_ai
      @cbnewham_ai 9 дней назад

@@ArielArbely thank you. But what do you mean by "replace everything"? If that were taken literally, then every cartoon or animated sequence would not pass muster. I take it you mean "no human influenced content". 😄 For instance, my scripts are drafted by Claude AI, but I then take those and change them. The same with the visuals - I do quite a bit of work manually in Photoshop to get the seed images for video. I guess if I wanted to make money I could do what "Zythi Studios" and just generate seed images with Runway, animated with generative video, have no dialogue, and back it with music from Sudo or Udio. However, I quickly got tired of seeing stuff like that - it wore thin after the third video as it's meaningless eye-candy content with little to no human input behind the scenes. But it seems to be popular. The new opium for the masses? 🫤
