    A lot of initiatives are happening in India recently connected to rare earths specifically, and critical metals broadly. These include identifying 30 metals as critical metals, removing six mineraks from atomic minerals list, encouraging private sector participation in exoloration, mining, and processing activities, and giving a push to circular economy and urban mining (mining materials from urban waste streams- e.g., e-waste, end of life vehicle waste, construction and demolition waste etc.). I have been working on some elements of the last point.

    but when some company govt/pvt start mining , these same journalist/print will organise 'andholan' and subotage mining ,this same national asset that sir is mentioning. No judicious and forward thinking attitude among media. Instead of directing nation towards good ,most media is party biased and detrimental to national interest. Time to think seriously about duties and rights of journalists.

      Our country is built like that we are extremely biased towards one side of politics. Every gov has used this fact to prop up themselves. And every person is ready to accept facts without doing some research. We see bias we bias in media, then we choose sides based on that media and soon we start fighting for the most baseless useless piece of information ever all because of money and power.

In China no protests ; If so , they will be evacuated to undisclosed places ; Here , leftists will start protesting ; Thats the end of the story for mining ; Hell with the son of the Soil policy which is affront to economic growth which in turn improve the society ; Vedanta a renowned mining company had been forced to close and India imports copper at high price ;

    US military research labs played around with various metals on the periodic table for various applications. All the research and exploitation was in the US, but environmentalist made the processes of refining these minerals unprofitable, so companies either outsourced or sold capabilities to countries with “loser” restrictions. There are dozens of substitutes for these minerals in most applications. The technology for processing these minerals is awesome getting “greener”, and/or countries could loosen environmental laws if it becomes a real concern. Most advanced economies seem to focus on recycling to get most of what is needed.
