In this video we take a look at the completely free attack of photo key decodes. Link to Deviant's github for key templates: github.com/deviantollam/decoding
When in doubt always err on the high side? You can always file down a bit in the field, but you can't add material back. With Kwikset though a jiggle probably works even if all cuts are a bit off. But if you are off that much you may as well use a bump key.
I came across this video agin, an while watching it I got to wondering how easy and fast it would be to 100% decode keys using just an iPhone. And I was surprised that I was able to use default photos app photo editor and pages to decode keys. the procedure I used assuming key guide file has already been downloaded and saved to files app. 1) take pic with phone camera 2) then directly edit pic using the built in photo editor, crop, rotary, and straighten bottom of key so that it is parallel with the grid guide then save changes 3) open a new pages document 4) import the edited picture of key 5) locate deviant’s key guide file, copy the applicable file that matches the key to be decoded 6) past key guide file on top of key picture previously imported into pages 7) adjust/ align key guide to key picture 9) decode the bitting 10) cut a key So basically just what you did but all from a phone using the preinstalled default apps. The first key I made this way was decoded 1 cut low on every cut because of a shadow/reflection along edge of key in picture. The key I cut worked just not smoothly. Thanks for the video. I wouldn’t have thought of word doc software to simplify photo editing.
@@amihirata i was just thinking of possibilities, even thinking that the card with the decoders could be in your wallet incase you dont have access to your kit at the moment and need to decode and theres a computer in the area
GIMP isn’t a software that a lot of people are familiar with or have installed. This was aimed to be as noob friendly as possible. I personally use photoshop when doing this properly.
Weird. I missed this video. RUclips needs to fix their recommendations. Great as always sir. Stay safe everyone please
Thanks for sharing! Much easier out in the field than carrying yet another tool.
You bet

At least i don't have to buy a 3D printer to make what they did in The Modern Rogue!
Thanks for the "tutorial"! Love your vids.
Thank you!

Thanks, good info🔑🔓
I really wish someone would make an open source or otherwise free keyway ID tool
Would it be a good idea to download all of the decoders and have them on a backup sd card in your penetration test kit?
That works, I personally have a copy saved on my google drive that I can access at any time

Could you do this in MS Paint?
You probably could, I haven't tried it however
Now show me how to do it in notepad

@@amihirata -- Could happen. 🤪
@@amihirata sounds like something LPL would do
.... just use GIMP.

Ah yes, I'm of course going to trust a link provided from some random youtube channel.
