Never heard of this rig before. Very interesting. I usually just throw a corn kernel or 2 on a small mosquito hook dropshop. Are there many missed bites due to bait not on the actual hook?
Honestly, it was hard to tell if the missed bites were due to missed hook up or if what we thought was a missed bite was actually just the carp bumping into the line. There were approximately 30 carp in the small cove we were fishing so I'm thinking it was just bumping the line. That being said, this rig is designed to exploit the way in which carp feed which is to suck items up off the bottom. When they suck the corn up on the hair, the hook is supposed to rotate downward and hook them in their bottom lip. That didn't happen every time we caught one so I'm wondering if it had to do with the line coming up through the bottom of the eye vs maybe trying to come down through the top. I'll try it the other way and see what has a better effect. Also, this rig is often used with floating boilies which, when floating, make the hook point down. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!
