OMG. I joined the church a year ago. I'm African American. I didn't know the history. The people are super kind. I made a commitment to stay a year. But the racist language in the BOM, I could not get past. Nor was I content with being gaslit and told it didn't mean my actual skin color. Finally, I bought Matthew Harris' book Secon Class Saints. GAME CHANGER. I left the church. If they're going to keep that language in the book and still teach we are inferior and from an inferior lineage, I don't want any part of it.

      2Nephi 26:33
For none of these iniquities come of the Lord; for he doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.
You will find no church that loves all people than the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

That was many years ago and the african latterday saints are fed up with hearing about it ask Gabriel Mariah a black latterday saint that has podcasts about it and a very strong testomony of the church he is a bishop in kenya and the church is growing fast there they have temples and the prophet recieved the Gandhi Mandela peace prize and the African King joined the church and donated a lot of land to the church

Some Black members might not want to hear it, but I find it's mostly some African members. This is very much still an important issue.

1978 was in the lifetime of many many many people still alive today so that’s hardly “many years ago” with all due respect

Many black American Latter day saints still endure the racism left long after the ban was lifted. The ban is gone but Racist and Racism in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is alive and well in 2024.

Isn't it important to know whether the claims and teachings of the church are true regarding this matter?
