Wow, people really do have a lot of questions about Oxford! I'm a student currently studying physics there so please feel free to ask if you have any questions, academic or otherwise!
Oxford..i'll come someday :))
it would be an absolute dream to be waking up, in your dorm knowing your at Oxford University, i know we ALL want to go ther. I wish you guys the best of luck in life x
I will go to this college one day
studying at Oxford has been my dream since 2nd grade. I want to turn it into reality!
Its hard to study at oxford your grades have to be amazing
I'll follow education there someday ! Amin yaallah ! Hard study to get there
Well, that depends on what you're looking for. You're right when you say that Oxford is absolutely irreplaceable. However, what's best for one depends on one's expectations. There are some people who would prefer to study in the middle of a megalopolis, and in that case, the charms of a city like Oxford won't do. There are people who are looking for a rural setting.
In any case I won't deny you that Oxford seems to be an enchanting and unforgettable place.
england is the most beautiful country in the world..i wish to go someday to 1 of this faboulus cities..definitely my dream.
I have been accepted to oxford for this year's intake and I've been watching this video every now and then ever since I got the placement offer letter. Every single time I watch it, it always gives me the chills. Can't wait to be there..
I love Oxford. It's a wonderful place with wonderful universities . I WANT TO GO TO PHD study IN Oxford University, but first of all I am a INDIAN, WORKING IN NORTH MAHARASTRA UNIVERSITY JALGAON (INDIA) I AM A POST GRADUATE IN MASS COMMUNICATION AND JOURNALISM. @ M.A. HISTORY
agreed. competition is worse when hidden and then it comes out at fullblast.
I was at St. Catherine's college 1983-1986. It is an experience I will never forget.
I really want to go to Oxford. I just don't know if my grades are qualified enough. :/
+Kristine Mae Papasin I wanted to be an English professor at Oxford.
refat english
Leon Kepp
I also want to go to Oxford. You can discuss about it each other if you want.
I'm gonna work really hard to get the opportunity to study here, I think some day I will, or else I'll feel like I 've failed completely in life! oh god how i wish i was witty enough!
@haekalkriboo congratulations! Some things to say 1. Always be you. Everyone feels weird in Ox1. 2. Don't just row because it feels "Oxo" - do your own thing. BUT! If you don't have a "sport", then, throw your self in to rowing....no where else is quite like it. What I would say is, don't give up a "Blue" in hockey, for a 3rd rate rowing experience. Just not worth it.
3. Love every second. It is really fun. The people you meet in this ONE place are unlike any group you meet elsewhere. x
@Da1uLyK Well, in Oxford you'll have college bops (dressing up, cheesy music) every other week or so and there's a big club night (very varied) basically every night. Oxford is not short of clubs - something that Cambridge struggles on a bit! You'll also be able to go to at least one ball a term if you choose to, which are really fantastic nights. Good Oxford parties involve a lot of free stuff, typically amazing surroundings and (mostly) good music.
i really want study at there. that my dream the biggest dream ^^ Aammiin
I want to do my postgrad degree here...if I study here my life will be complete!!!
Here are my grades:
GCSE Maths: C
GCSE English: C
GCSE Chemisty: Fail
GCSE Drama: Fail
Where do I apply for Oxford?
I was at the top of my school when I graduated from my school (tenth grade), but now that I am in my eleventh year, I'm only average... But keep on trying! I have not yet given up my hope either, Though IB might just kill me for it:)
I‘m here, appreciate so much, enjoy every day of library life and different talks in collages
My Gosh. I have an interview there in ONE WEEK (they told me yesterday) and I'm now TERRIFIED after watching that! Does anyone have any tips? Please? :)
Oxford is one of the greatest wonders of human civilization!
@nawraa97bh you are planning this at the age of 13!!! i admire your determination, im atttempting to get there as well!
Why the hell does Oxford need a recruiting video?
"I was on my way to ITT Tech until I saw this video. Thanks Oxford!"
University of Oxford is def my favorite university. But the techno sort of music at the beginning really doesn't fit.
I once walked into Oxford and sat through a whole days worth of lectures without anyone asking who I was.
what i find funny is that i've been seriously considering either astrophysics or archeology o-0 weird
I'm 13 years old and I would enjoy going to Oxford when I get the chance!
Well, I better go study!
Oxford looks beautiful not gonna lie, too bad I can't get the grades to get there
Thatcher has nothing on Tutu! :D
I studies a BA at Oxford, LLB and LLM at UCL, and I'm busy with an MBA at LSE. Even though I enjoyed my time at Oxford the most, academically I didn't find much of a difference between the standards at Oxford, UCL and LSE. Having said that, there's just so much prestige attached to an Oxford degree!!
Don't worry I am coming soon in Oxford university
I'm 14, and I am not sure of what I want to study yet, but I will get to Oxford!
I swear to god, I'm going to make it to Oxford someday.
It's my dream to go to Oxford University.
OXFORD, wait for me. I'll take my PhD there *I really hope so*
nice man, same here!
which course do you hold an offer for?
Hopefully my future university x
ihope that itake achance to study in the best university all over the world
Happy new year to the Queen of England.
Oxford is my unrequited love
oxford, it feels like a dream
I REALLY want to go there
It's absolutely amazing. If you get the chance to go, take it and you will never forget it. I miss it everyday.
In 2020 I will not be studying here but at Cambridge :D
I'm at St. Peter's College studying Physics at undergrad currently - if anyone has any questions about applications etc. I'd be happy to help get you the info :)
Drop me a message.
I love it
I hope that my son can go to Oxford University one day. I wonder if they provide tours of the school. I would love to take him there to plant the seed while he is still young.
Yeah he can go to open days
that sounds wonderful, but remember not to pressure him into feeling he has to go there, I hope he gets in if that's what he aspires to do!
Let him choose, if he truly doesn't want to or isn't interested, he won't get in.
I am just like your guy... help me please...
"Its the place where the cleverest people on the planet think really hard about the hardest problems on the planet" .... exactly ....
i'm applying here in october :')
what did u get in a levels ?+ gsce's??
Oxford needs a course that exlpores the growing indigenous renaissence occuring from Frobisher Bay, to Tierra del Fuego! ......here, start with Robert Greygrass-a storyteller..........and Good Shield Aguilara. a musician. then look up Bagua, Peru. what happened at Bagua is an atrocity! Garcia thinks hes Custer!
I am about to go to Oxford in a few weeks on a scholarship to do history and english. Yes, your exam results will matter hugely but if you can impress them as a person academically and if they think you're fit to face the challenges at Oxford you WILL stand a chance. I wish you the very best of luck mouldycart. Oxford is a very special place.
Can I get in (or at least get an interview) if my GCSEs aren't all a*s and as (e.g. 3 as, 2a*s, and 3bs) but if all my a levels are, e.g. 2 as and 1 a*? I have a lot to offer it's just that I don't want grades to act as a barrier.
Me2 hic hic
I was selected to visit both Christ Church and St. catz for the day. It's beautiful at both these colleges at Oxford. I don't think I could actually make it there though. You are expected to either have A's/A*'s or achieve higher grades than the average grades at your A levels in the facility you studied at.
i was in summer school last year at Oxford university ,believe me the BEST PLACE ON EARTH !
i LOVE it ...specially the nature of the area it is like where they shoot all of the fairy tales movie and Harry potter ..
i wish i could go there again ,i miss that place sooooo much
I'll never get through those gates! my historical and art qualifications are beyond miniscule compared to the geniuses at this place! these are the types they hire as secret agents and such! Uber smart!!
Bit of a premature ending wasn't it?
Oh, reading all the comments I must say that I find myself among the lucky ones who visited this divine place!!!!! People - go there as soon as you can!!!!!! Even if it's expensive!!!!!! Check out my video about Oxford.
background music is great, what is it called? anyone knows?
@TheMissSlimShady
hey don't worry! i study there now and i had the same exact feeling! i just thought i wud never get in, or i wasn't able enough. trust me, everyone who applies there deep down feels non confident. you dont have to be clever, just well read, open minded and be able to get AAA, which with hard work and effort - you can achieve! don't worry! message/inbox me if you need any more help.
Looks idyllic from the outside, I know, but it's ruddy hard work. If you want to come here then be prepared to spend A LOT of time with your head in a book and not so much time enjoying the 'ancient and beautiful city.' I'm sure it's worth it in the end but as a third year 'stress' is the main item on the agenda. It's a wonderful place, but not for everyone
im only in year 8 (13 years old 2morrow) but i already have my furture planned :) gcse: maths, english, triple science, history, geography and either art or drama. then imma go to suffolk one. then oxford or cambridge. imma be a csi or marince biologist :) :) if all eles fails a auther or a rapper x
oh my god... i love this university and i will definitely work hard towards gaining an admission to it.
personally i don't like Oxford, ive lived there over 1 year. i am going to Southampton university next year which is also one of the best one especially for engineering science
I was just thinking that. Also I lived in Kuwait for 3 years lol :D
I would kill to study there)
oxford one day insyaallah :)
help me
matnoor jamdi inchalah good luck to you
I wish I get accepted in Oxford
I would like to study Master at Oxford but I know that this is a dream for me that may be far away because I do not speak English but I am trying now to learn English so that I can achieve my dream one day✏
if you got Straight A/A* in your A Levels, but B/C in your GCSE's would you be able to get into places like Cambridge and Oxford
@potpie921 Lucky you :P
I also think you should put down a lot of hobbies. Universities enjoy candidates that have hobbies, such as sport.
Will apply next year. Fingers crossed. >_
What can I get a scholarship at there?
@tifftigershark slow down bud, the future will come soon enough. have a good time while you still can.
If only I could afford to attend Oxford. I'm half a world away, and I don't have a penny to my name.
im curently a post grad student at Oxford and its awesome!! no i am not a millionaire..i was awarded a scholarship and there are a few available
@SimonOxfPhys I WANNA GO SOOOOOOO BAD! I have SO MANY QUESTIONS!! Can I message you??!!! I can't fit them all into one comment box!!!!!!!! Here are a few-> 1) How hard would It be for an American student to get a scholarship? 2) What kind of classes do you have to take your first year there if you're going to be a biology major? 3) Are there any dance or art classes there? 4) Do they take kindly to gay-rights activists? (I come from a homophobic country, pardom me)
@SimonOxfPhys UAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I WANNA GO SOOOOOOO BAD! I have SO MANY QUESTIONS!! Can I message you??!!! I can't fit them all into one comment box!!!!!!!! Oxford is NO MORE EXPENSIVE than ANY other university in the UK - in Britain our tuition fees are pretty much standardised. While it may be reasonable to argue that you might benefit from possibly superior resources or education because of your socio-economic background or private schooling, it would be unfair to make a blanket statement that Oxford is only open to those with a certain income.
Id like to study law but Im from Slovakia and Im affraid that I wouldnt understand something and I would be kicked out because its not in my mothers language and so I cant be 100 sure whether it is or isnt the right translation....
I was thinking about studying at Carls University in Czech republic... about 700 years old university too... or just normal university...
whats the difference be tween normal and Oxford university?
I say this to all the people who think they wont ever get into Oxford, I went to a well established public school did ok but not brilliant because I am not a very academically sharp guy but I am a very very deep thinker. I took a diploma from exeter university and applied to be a warfare officer in the Royal Navy this year, i passed just before training started the navy offered me a scholarship to oxford. I still had to be interviewed and have got in. I will be going to Jesus college next year.
Much older than Harvard, but I wouldn't say that its better. As a matter of fact, USNEWS & World Report released an article with a list of the top 200 schools in the world, back in November. The University of Oxford was 4th on it, while Harvard was #1. I know that list doesn't speak for everyone, but judging from the sources they gathered feedback from, it does for most of the powerful people and institutions (in areas like finance, education, and health) worldwide.
Long live Cambridge.
@Lemontree23 actually not that much more than most unis. We had a lecture for potential Oxford students and we were really suprised at the figures...I couldn't tell you exact ones though off the top of my head. The important thing to know is that no matter what your financial background is, you can study at Oxford (or Cambridge, for that matter).
Such a beautiful city. Fantasy like. I only wish that students from Serbia could attend it, after finishing their schools. it's been my greatest wish. a friend of mine told me you can't apply for scholarships if your from Serbia because you still need someone to fund you even if you get a scholarship. that's a shame.
@panteraboosh Yes, almost all offers from universities are based on your A level grades. But you need to attend interviews too; there was one case where a girl got four A*s in her A levels but didn't get an offer from Oxford because she performed badly in the interview.
@panteraboosh Not too sure about Cambridge, but at Oxford they pretty much give you an offer based only on how well you do in the entrance exam and the interviews. If you're good enough for those, then they're not too fussed what grades you got at GCSE's. Go for it.
@HeartShapeGlasses007 As easy/difficult as for any other subject, I guess! I study Arch and Anth and it's the best degree, ever. End of. But then again I'm a nerd. :) Basically if you love the subject, get decent grades and be calm and well prepared in the interview process, you'll be fine.
@HockeyPlayer58 I'm going to Worcester College myself in Oxford. If you'd liketo have a chat anytime via Private messages just let me know. The answer to your question in short is yes, you can come here. I'm english myself and live in England but I know for a factthat you can come here.
ok, i'm in 10th grade in an IB school, doing the IB MYP, getting mostly 6s (As in GCSE), 4 7s (A* in GCSE) and 2 5s (Bs). Is the MYP recognized as an equivalant of GCSE. I am thinking of doing A levels instead of IB, I like the focus more and oxford perfers it. Can i do myp then A Levels (getting As)?
Damn I really hope I get 3 As. I would love to go to oxbridge but I am not counting on it. Kinda depressing how massivly competitive it all is. I am going to work my little socks off over the next 2 years.
Dont spose anyone has any advice (aside from working hard and getting 3 As) for getting in?
don't see it as being hard to get into. if it's right for you, chances are it will come across in your interview. it's not really about straight A*s etc (I had crappy GCSEs), but rather showing a questioning mind willing to accept a challenge.
feel free to pm me if you want advice or info.
@MrBWB Surely someone who is taking their A-levels and wants to know a little about the University of Oxford would find this video quite informative?
Plus I fail to see how anyone in it is 'bragging' as you so quaintly put it.
I want to study there so bad! But only 10 % are being accepted to study there, so can anyone who's already in there tell me what I need to have or do to be accepted? I still have 3 years to prepare myself so please tell me everything!!
Thanks so much!
