    Liz I’m a retired stylist and I would never have talk to a client like that! Furthermore I wouldn’t have paid. The Master stylist should’ve been there to check on a new stylist right out of school! I hope they can fix it for you. The only way to get a highlite is to bleach it. Thats how we did back then. Your hair is dark and they should’ve known that it would pull orange.sorry that it happened to you. Never be afraid of speaking up you’re paying for a service.

      I agree!!!! I to am a retired cosmetologist. I worked for 31 years doing hair. I never treated a customer that way and I had a few colors I turned down after they explained what their hair would do. I turned them down because I didn't want to damage their hair anymore than what it already was..

      Liz, I'm so sorry. I pray it's fixed properly for you. It does look chopped up in the back. Hopefully, they can fix that for you also without having to cut a lot off. Love you girl.

      Another retired stylist here. They should have known you can not bring hair up to a pretty blonde on hair that is dark as yours. It is a long process, many visits. With box color it is especially difficult. You should not have paid but they should have known it wasn't going to happen

    Any “master stylist “ who has an opening on the same day is a red flag! That will never happen. Irregardless of what happened, you look beautiful Liz!

    Oh nooo!!! That salon sounds like a nightmare! Those stylists were extremely unprofessional. I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

    Liz, so sorry that happened to you. I love your hair when it’s dark. It’s so flattering on you and that’s why so many colors that you choose in clothing look so great on you. Especially royal blue looks stunning with your dark hair.

    My daughter is a hair stylist. She would never let you walk out of the shop like that. You are right! The caliber of people in the public work place is rediculous. They don't care, the worst customer service, they want the money but don't want anyone to disagree or tell them the problem you have. So sorry!

    I was a color specialist for over 22 years, first condition your ends over night. leave the conditioner in and don't shampoo before your appointment ! The color can be fixed, I would worry more about the ends frying too badly and that cut. You may have to get layers to cut off damaged hair. after all is done you will probably need a second trim in 2 to 4 weeks depending on how much heat you use on your hair daily, also see if the do a gloss treatment, maybe in 2 weeks then even 4 to 6 weeks out until the damage is gone. I'm so sorry you had that experience, it's times like this that I am glad I got out of the business. I had back surgery and had to leave doing hair. Also.... a dry haircut on your hair? The only dry cuts I ever had to give was on African Americans or if I was taking brittle split ends off long hair, and only then was it a dusting, not cut to style or length. Weird. I hope this all works out. ❤

    Oh Liz I’m so sorry you had that experience. Please don’t ever feel bad for expressing how you feel they should have listened to your concerns. I would not of paid either. Keeping my fingers crossed that can do a correction for you tomorrow.🤞🏻❤

    I totally agree with you!!.............ALL you want is what YOU ARE PAYING FOR!! People kill me today! They THINK they know EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERYTHING & DO NOT LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMER!! Something has been lost in the business world today with this attitude!! I'm glad you stood up for yourself!

    Ms. Liz, I can relate to every word you've said. It seems like every place I go to get my hair cut .... they don't give a rip what I want. They do whatever is easiest for them, and want your money for it. I am not as patient as you are. I wouldn't have stayed after seeing the mess she made. Honestly, I would've been afraid to let her touch my hair again. I hate to admit this, I'm probably going to sound like a very sour person, but I've told several girls off in the past. I don't use bad language and cuss at people, I just tell them they're no good at this job and should find another one before someone sues them. For sure I don't tip anyone who isn't worth one. I'll be praying for you in the morning. I hope it all goes well and you get what YOU want. Love you, and hang there sweetie. The upside - it's hair that will grow back and it won't take long for things to get right again. God bless you. *edited to say this: I, too, have had dry cuts before a shampoo. I don't get that at all. I won't allow it anymore.

    Wow Liz I can't even believe you had to go through that. Sounds like that Salon needs to be shut down. You had every right to stick up for yourself. The color and cut is beyond horrible. I'm embarrassed for that salon. I'm sure it will be fixed tomorrow... of course you still look great it's just the hair

    I’m praying that you got exactly what you requested for color correction at the other salon. I’m so sorry you had to go through that experience. As a paying customer, you deserve truth, honesty and respect. I think most women have been through horrible experiences hair wise- you are right, you have to stand up for yourself. ❤

    Well I know you won’t but ROCK the gray and silver. I stopped coloring my hair during Covid for obvious reasons. I never had luck with box color. It’s the most liberating decision I ever made. My husband loves it, my kids love it, and I’m constantly getting the nicest compliments from strangers. My hair is in the best health as well. Other than the occasional cut no salons for me!!! More $$$$ for decorating. 😉

      Same. not by choice but because I need help with coloring it (handicapped from stroke)...every hair dresser tells me how pretty the gray is (I only have a top layer of it and my hair is dark brunette) and my daughter loves it! However, I do not. It is so easy being gray tho' - no worries about roots, touch ups etc.!

      Yes, I’ve never been one that colored my hair anyway but I made that mistake for the first time when I was around 59yrs old. My hair was naturally what I guess would be called light ash brown not blonde. I told the “stylist” , and I use that term very loosely, that I wanted some maybe honey colored highlights or whatever he thought would match my hair best. This guy was at a very well known salon in Memphis, TN and did some of the actors and artists hair that were from there. I realize it’s not like it’s New York or LA or some place like that but at any rate he had a very good reputation with a good following. To make this long story short., I went in with light ash brown hair asking for some highlights and came out with every bit of my hair a dark henna red from what I can tell on a color chart. That was almost 6yrs ago and whether you believe it or not on the underneath side of my hair in the back you can still see the red when I make a ponytail. All the rest is I think a very pretty salt and pepper gray. I told the stylist I go to now that the only person who will ever highlight or do anything with the color of my hair from now on is the Good Lord.

      Same here! I'll be 51 soon and decided to go gray 16 mo ago. I have gotten compliments now and never did before when I colored it! And, I don't miss all of the time and money spent on coloring it.

    Oh I so feel you. As a hair dresser myself I wish I was near you so I can help you. You right they needed to use 30 on you and for a tuner now needs to be an ash base color to tune down that red. Sorry for this Solon that is why I stop working for any one and went on my owe. Hope you can find a good stylist 😢

    I’m so glad you stood up for yourself. I never have the strength to do that for myself. I had a stylist that always did a great job but it always felt rushed and she booked several appts while I would be processing. I have fine, thin hair and eventually it got over processed from her being distracted. I’ve done my own hair for over a year now and I don’t regret it. I need every thin strand on my head to stay put for my sanity.

    Liz! I’m so sorry you had such a horrible experience! You are absolutely right!!!! In this current world, people don’t take pride in their work any more! That’s what happens when everyone gets a participation award for showing up, instead of being encouraged to strive for excellence! Then they act like you’re the monster because you had the guts to confront them! I’m very proud of you for standing up for yourself! If you don’t, people will stomp all over you!     This is SO crazy ... I think you did a better job with that "butterfly cut" and the box color. Being a brunette myself (with green eyes also), I was loving your dark tresses. If this next attempt fails, maybe consider that lovely "box color". Best of luck Liz. I hope this one gets it right for you.

    My daughter with my brown hair wanted a biolage. Our hair salon warned her it would be a couple stage process, dark hair can’t be dyed blonde in one visit. It was expensive $450 before tip and took 2 visits. The 2nd visit was less expensive $200. Biolage is difficult for seasoned hairstylists as everyone’s hair is different. I have been with the same stylist for 6 years and haven’t had a bad cut or dye. Transparency is key, telling you upfront if what you are asking for is reasonable/possible. When you find a good one, you hang on for dear life. Good luck with your upcoming appointment. If you like the outcome, forget the box dye and go to them regularly (I go every 5 wks for a root touch up.) It’s expensive, yes, but worth it because they will learn your hair and what works and what doesn’t. PS. They should’ve waved your fees after going through that ordeal. Very bad customer service.     Dear Liz my mom was a hairstylist her entire life so I grew up in a salon and I know what’s going on.
    I moved away from NYC three years ago and have not yet found anyone who is competent enough ‼️
    It’s been one negative journey after another.
    One thing is for sure , hairstylist hate it when a customer knows what’s going on and they don’t like it when WE tell them what to do.
    I have wasted sooooo much money on work that was not satisfactory and tipped too.
    I can’t even ‼️‼️
    Anyway now I just make it a day out of it and take an hour train ride into the city just to see the outstanding hairstylist that know what she’s doing.
    The struggle is REAL
    By the way you look beautiful and the highlights although it’s not what you wanted it still looks good. Perhaps you can gradually trim what you don’t like.
    - Stick to salons that are located in a major city and that’s my last advise 😍

    I am also a retired cosmetologist, and I have the same issues with my hair lighting.
    I tell them before my hair is stubborn. They always pull It to soon.
    Hair cuts usually follow the color service.

    Oh Liz, I feel so bad for you! That cut and color is.....I have no words. The minute I saw your face pop up on the video, I said OMG what happened to Liz's hair! Girl,I feel your pain. I am a retired hairdresser and owned my own salon and I never would have let you leave my business until your hair was absolutely to your liking. If any of my girls had talked trash to you they would have been fired immediately! Ask to see some sample pictures of work the person that is going to do your hair has done on others (most salons have them) and if you don't feel confident with them, run for the hills. Just so you know, I love the dark shade of hair on you. It brings out your beautiful eyes. Good Luck ❤❤❤❤

    Liz, I totally agree with you! I have never ever heard of any salon or stylist to be so utterly rude, misleading and disrespectful to a client! The stylist should have been upfront and honest with you. A woman’s hair is her crown of glory” and great care should always be given to every client. I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow and can’t wait to see how it looks. But Liz, honestly - you are very pretty. You have such beautiful eyes, cheekbones and shiny hair, it detracts from seeing the incorrect highlights.❤❤😊

    Oh Liz that’s terrible how you were treated. That’s the reason I decided to go naturally grey and believe it or not I get more compliments on my long grey hair than I ever did as a brunette. But just know you are beautiful no matter what they did to your hair. Good luck tomorrow

    I agree with you 100%. What the heck is wrong with people these days? I am frustrated. And you know what, when you demand or ask for what you paid for you are called a "karen". Oh ok....these teenie boppers come out of their diapers and start calling us karens for saying hey....where's my _____? So they try to make you feel guilty even though they are in the wrong. Yesterday, I was made to feel like an idiot....went to a 7 Brew (coffee place).....I pull up to the girl with the iPad and she wants to know what I want. But there's no menu any where. I am supposed to just "KNOW" what the menu said...with my ESP I guess. She said there's a menu back there. "BACK THERE"....BEHIND MY CAR. And it was broke. And I was penalized and had to drive forward to a parking spot around the other side and pull up a menu on my phone, figure out what I wanted, and then go through the drive thru AGAIN. Have you ever heard of such garbage. Those girls in that salon were horrible to you. It's not you Liz. It's the society we now live in. It's terrible. So sorry that happened to you! And my one last vent, they need to quit turning the screen to us at establishments and ask for tips. If you just fill a coffee, hand me food over the counter, give me an ice cream cone, you're not getting a tip. No guilt tipping.

      Hi Lori, oh my goodness, I am so sorry that happened to you. What is wrong with people? I agree with you 100% - if we dare to question anyone, we are labeled “Karen’s” - it is completely unacceptable. This year I have really noticed how lazy society has become, it makes me so sad. People don’t want to do quality work anymore and there is no accountability. The days of good leadership are gone. I can so relate to what you went through. Anyway, what you went through was utter laziness on that girls part, I can’t believe she made you pull off to look up the menu - yes, I agree, no tips for laziness, nope, not happening!

    Oh Liz I want to cry for you! I can totally relate! I have not been able to find a great hairstylist for years!!! I went from dark hair like yourself to blonde to camouflage my gray hair coming through so as not to have to dye my hair every two weeks due to the cost. I would go in and get a great color but then go back to get my roots touched up and they would always mess it up and my roots would be black and the rest of my hair blonde! When I’d get home and called them and tell them my roots are too dark (looking like I had a runway on top as well), I would always get the response that the color would fade after a few washes!! I finally started fighting back and say I didn’t pay $100 + to have to wait to wash my hair to not even get what I paid for!! 🤬 I lost a lot of hairstylist bcuz they didn’t like what I had to say!! I finally gave up dying my hair and went all natural with my gray hair and love it!😊 Now I’m on the hunt for a hairstylist that can do a great cut! Best of luck with the new stylist! Plz do an update video with your new do! ❤️

    So sorry you went through this, most of us over the years have had some bad experience from some salon. My advice, find one that has professionals and they know what they are doing.     Oh what a terrible experience. I hate that when stylists are so sassy and have a know it all attitude. It sounds like it went from bad to horrible in seconds flat. YOU are the customer. A little kindness goes a long way. (on their part) So sorry that happened to you--but I can relate. Ugh!

    It’s the box home dyes I believe …. Same experience , it cost me a small fortune to learn it’s really hard to lighten them 🙁!! It just would not turn the right colour …. After several salon visits .

      No, an experienced stylist who knows how to color would be able to do what was asked for. So many people use box color, it's not impossible to lift. You just have to know what you are doing.

    I’m sorry this happened and completely understand your frustration and disappointment. That salon was very unprofessional and I hope that you didn’t pay. Me having dark hair as well and wanting highlight's before, I’ve walked out with the orange streaks more times than I can count. It seems bleaching was the only way they could get it to go blonde for me and all the toner in the world never seemed to help. Hope you can get what you want. On another note, you still look beautiful as always.

    O.M.Gosh! You poor thing! Your hair looks orange! OMGosh OMGosh! I think it can be fixed so good luck on this next appointment! This is exactly why I stopped going to a salon, I instead watch RUclips videos and do my hair myself! I was so sick and tired of paying a boatload of money for “what I didn’t want”, I quit going! Liz, I would EVEN take in a photo of what I wanted, whether it be the type of cut, or the color I wanted, and still come out looking awful! I’m so sorry you’ve gone through this, Liz. It’s so traumatizing! And then to have to check out and pay for it adds more trauma. I’m not a drama queen, I don’t like raising a fuss, I just am tired of going thru this, so I quit going. Saves me a lot of money and preserves my sanity, even though it shouldn’t be this way. Love u😘

    Awwww. The worst! I, too have rocked the orange, brassy hair in hopes of going lighter. I have given up as well. Praying they can fix it.

    Oh, I totally feel your pain! I have had the worst experiences with my hair! A lot of hairdressers just don’t listen when you tell them what you want. I’ve had so many bad haircuts that I gave up and I cut and dye my hair myself. I actually do a better job than what most of the hairdressers I’ve been to have done for me. I still think your hair looks beautiful, but I hope you have a good experience tomorrow.❤

    Liz, I can sure relate, but not with color just haircuts. I have been to so called-"master's" down to the basic cuts places and every single time have been disappointed. The cuts would be uneven. They would use a razor when I specifically would say up front not to due to frizz. Like your experience they would nod in agreement then do it anyway in the back so I couldn't see. Obviously they don't learn how to layer, cut, and dye anymore. How do they obtain their license? One time I went in saying I just wanted a 1-inch trim. My hair was your length. The girl cut 3-inches...uneven. I went back to get it fixed was told 1st girl was the manager (crazy!) and not there so another girl cut 3 more inches. I kid you not, 5 more inches than requested!!! Again, still not even. Another time I asked for layers starting at my shoulder down (had long hair) no length taken on ends, but the girl started just clipping away in the back. I ended up with hair length at my shoulder and layered all over! At that point I was done and have cut my own hair ever since. A decade ago I never experienced this issue. It's like there is no longer pride in self-work, no respect of self or others, no ambition to grow and attitudes of you should be thankful for what you get, like they're doing you a favor for free!

    Liz I agree what a terrible job she did. She should have said I’m new at this & don’t feel comfortable with what you’re asking. Up front honesty is what we’re all asking from these stylists. Also, LISTEN to what WE WANT not what you want!!!

    Liz I know it’s not what you wanted but you still look gorgeous! This is the reason I stopped getting my hair done. I sure do miss it from time to time. I have the same issue with my hair being stubborn and when my hairstylist retired I just stoped getting it done.

    Liz, I am so sorry this happened to you. Totally unprofessional,deceptive from the beginning. Master Hair Stylist love the terms they use. You are the customer and this is not what you asked for. Not your fault, you are the sweetest,kindest lady. Glad you stood up for yourself. Prayers that tomorrow your hair will come out beautiful. love you

    Oh my gosh!!! What a horrible place they are running. You never did say you paid so the question is did you? I would definitely go on there website or wherever it is you go back there and share your experience. I pray that the new place you’re going to can help you and make your hair look pretty. I would’ve been in tears but you are better than me I would not have stayed that second round I would’ve gotten up and left just because of the way they talked to you and the way they treated you. They weren’t going to do anything to make it better for you they didn’t care. You are 100% right you are the customer and when you told them what you wanted and they didn’t fulfill their end of the agreement you shouldn’t have to pay I don’t care if she’s fresh out of school it’s not right. Unfortunately, they have to learn from their mistakes and not being paid because of the service they did not give is a great way for them to learn. Of course we never want to hurt anybody or be disrespectful, but Liz you were very disrespected by your girl who was doing your hair. She didn’t listen to you she didn’t talk to you she didn’t share with you. Can’t wait to see you on Friday and see your new hair style and color:) God bless you

    Hey, Liz..sorry you had that experience. As a stylist for 30 years..I would have done a consultation first..going over everything that has been done to your hair.. As dark as you appeared to be..I would have suggested, to get what you want would take a few sessions to keep the integrity of your hair. There are several “Color Theory” videos on youtube. Going from dark to light isn’t easy.. your root will process faster than the mid shaft of your hair and then ends will process differently also. I would consider what you are wanting to be a corrective color..It takes time and several sessions to achieve. But seriously, checkout the color theory videos! They explain the chemistry of the hair and all of the shades and tones your dark hair will go through to get to blonde. I think all clients should watch just to educate yourself too💗 Much love and hope you get something you Love🙏🏻💗💖

    Liz so sorry about your horrible experience.Im a retired hair stylist and the only way to get the orange out of your hair is bleach it out and then add your color you want to use Good luck with your new appointment.❤❤❤❤❤Make sure they know how to cut your hair like YOU WANT IT DONE Love you my friend from Alabama.❤❤👍👍👍

    Oh Liz I understand exactly what you’ve been through. I have stubborn hair too. I always tell them that I don’t want red or orange tone color. I’ve gotten pumpkin color with tangerine highlights. I hope you find someone who knows what they’re doing. The only thing that gets me through is knowing that it’s hair and it’ll grow out. Good luck!
