  • THE KIBAKI SUCCESSION: Focus on PM Raila Odinga
    On our Kibaki succession series, we put Prime Minister Raila Odinga who has in the recent past been very much in the spotlight firmly under the microscope tonight. Will it be 2012 or never for the Prime Minister as far as his chances of ascending to power go? Well, analysts and even recent opinion polls say he is the man to beat. Odinga is a man many love to hate. His critics are as eloquent in their dislike as his supporters are in their praise. Our associate editor Alex Chamwada spent time with the Prime Minister at his Karen residence and where Odinga spoke of his chances.

    He can't stomach opposition.The greatest party-hopper of all time.From Mwakenya to Ford to Ford-K to NDP to KANU to NARC to ODM.I would dismiss him as not good enough for president.His track record is summed up thus:UNRELIABLE.

    The Mindset of Kenyan Voters has changed, people will vote differently in this 2012, this will be tough bwana Tinga, but on my Opinion "except for his tribalism" Ruto is the man we need, that guy has always delivered where he has power.. Education , Agriculture and the Likes, if he makes it to the Debe he has my Vote, i am not a kalenjin I am Gema so this aint tribal politics... RAILA HATOSHI. !!!!

    @madscientistify As much as we are fighting tribalism there's no way we can deny that many of us are not yet ready for a Luo president; at least not this specific Luo guy. Not that he's necessarily bad but Luos would sit on everyone's business. I want to live in a free country like I am right now. Plus this guy hasn't done anything for Lang'ata, I don't expect him to do anything for Kenya. I'll vote just to vote against him.

    Be Kikuyu or Luo whatever we are Kenya as a nation as a whole.. stop this idiotic ideology of tribalism. This mentality had died with our great grandfathers and lets not bring it back... Be Raila, or an Indian origin president. Lets create a new Kenya and not what colonialists left!

    @madscientistify Hehe, hate all you want. We were the backbone of Kenya's economy while Moi the dictator was president, Jaluo sio hiyo itatutisha. Vote for whoever you please, I'm NEVER EVER voting for this guy. Wasaperes fought for the independence of this country and the only reason we vote the way we do is because we care for the future of this country. I will NEVER vote for a dictator coz I love Kenya.

    Moi did not force Uhuru on us. Had he done that Uhuru would have become the president. Don't throw statements around carelessly especially when they are untrue. Last time I checked Raila's dad was Jaramogi so the same thing can be said about Raila, just because his father was a politician doesn't mean Raila can make a good president.
    The only main difference between Uhuru and Raila is that Uhuru's supporters behave like civilised human beings who don't expect free stuff.

  • @fckingkim
    @fckingkim 11 лет назад

    Kenyatta was far from flawless (he did not unite the country) but Kenya's economy grew fast under his reign. Kibaki's government also has its flaws but his work on the economy (though not as good as Kenyatta's) is respectable.
    I agree that we probably should have a non-Kikuyu president for a change but I have to point out that Kenya's economy so far has done best under Kikuyus. Moi did not do shit for this country.
    We should try a different tribe but Raila is not the guy. Mudavadi is better

    Anyone is better than Raila at this point. And the problem is not just Raila himself but his supporters. I have not met one decent Luo in my life. Even the educated ones still have a lot of immaturity going on. Sometimes I think Luos just can't help it. It's what makes them Luo.
    Raphael Tuju is probably the only mature Luo alive. Maybe we just haven't seen his true colours coz at the end of the day he's still Luo.
    Your analogy about feeding Kenya to dogs makes no sense at all.

  • @fizikia
    @fizikia 11 лет назад

    Well, what I was trying to paint for you is, you cannot have the son of a man who we can agree that if not for being the first president, Kenyatta himself actually never did anything to promote peace in the country instead there were so many killing sprees that were only perpatuated by his successor Moi. Then what really got some of us not liking Moi's taste of politics was when he simply assumed that once a father is a president, then his son can be and tried to force him on us.

  • @fizikia
    @fizikia 11 лет назад

    That being part of my perspective, I am just worried that he shall not do anything for Kenyan interests but to show that he can try to fit in his father's really horrible shoes.So, neither of them if the best but I think at this point in time, anything than a hereditary kinship into the presidency. And there are so many other issues behind Uhuru ever being a Kenyan president

    Can anyone inform of the translation to that song or the language it is sung in as I can try and translate myself. Thank you for any help. If you care to leave a name, even a nick name, I'll be sure to attribute any in the paper , to presented this coming winter at Columbia University, NY. .....P.S This is from my above post trying to determine the lyrics of Bana Kadori's tribute to Raila's uncle, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. Thank you, Ass't Instructor, John Baptiste Remarque'.

    Please dont express your hatred for others here. You canot go around calling other cultures names and expect to be listened to when you shall bring forth your arguement on the table. Please respect others and we shall respect what you have to say. Let Raila be voted in by the majority as long as it is not rigged and if not then let the best candidate win and pray that your lifestyle improves and not get worse than it is now.

    If you knew anything about the economy of Kenya you would know it's backbone is agriculture; not manufacturing. Although Kenya is the most industrially developed country in East Africa, manufacturing still accounts for only 14 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). And in agriculture, we rely on tea and coffee from central highlands. You people are so ignorant yet you think you can lead this country. Know the country b4 you claim it. Ati manufacturing. Hehehe.

    @madscientistify If you are from a lazy community where people sit all day doing nothing just idling around and bashing about Kikuyus, you have the right to fantasize that Raila will become president and start feeding your family but you have no right to blame your poverty on other communities. As far as I'm concerned no Kenyan has been denied their rights coz they are not Kikuyus in the Kibaki era.
    Complain all you want about Kikuyus but dont blame any Kenyan 4 your laziness

    No difference between Luhyas and Luos. You're all Luo to me and to most people. If it looks like a Luo, thinks like a Luo, talks like a Luo and has all the characteristics of a Luo, then it's a Luo.

    He has no leadership qualities. He was away when the rest of us were suffering in Kenya trying to go through the education system, the corrupt system and so many more. Yet you and I and many other Kenyans have made it and we shall always make it.Uhuru was enjoying his dad's stolen wealth through the policy of "grab as much as you can as a leader" to even know how it is to struggle as a Kenyan citizen in all levels of living.
