407C replaces R22 easily. There are others that are effective also. It really boils down to the overall condition of the system and how well it’s maintained. Other factors is the coil availability and in some cases cost. The contractors cost could be quite high and with mark up , labor and additional materials including replacement refrigerants can be enough to weigh in your investment into the older system or consider putting that towards a higher efficiency system. Be sure to shop well. Do not go to the cheapest nor the most expensive. Look for duct modifications included in the contractors quote as a must for the newer system to be charged properly. Setting the airflow and getting the systems statics is a must for proper operation and efficiency. Secondly line set replacement is always best. If not a flush is a must along with the use of nitrogen in the line set soldering process to minimize carbon deposits in the refrigeration system. R410 systems will cease being manufactured in 2025 and remaining inventory will be sold till 2026. New A2lL refrigerants are not as volatile as the gossips like to make it. It does not have propane in it. It is Propene a different class. It is really hard to ignite this stuff and is being overblown by clowns with little common sense. 44 years at this and a contractor for the vast majority of my career. Been through all the refrigerant changes and was there before Seer was even a conception. You can bank my words on this the industry is rife with miss information.
I did replace my condenser 10 years ago R22; so I used R407C. (I'm retired from the HVAC business); six months ago my 26 y/o air handler went kaput. So we had to replace entire system, so current Refrigerant is R410A, which is on the list of refrigerants EPA wants to eliminate in the very near future! Sickening!
I believe my coil is a “quick detach”. How can I know for sure ? I have hex wrench points on the low and high side line. Does this classify it as a “non -sweat” type ? Thanks
My unit is 13 years it should last much longer I told the repair guy to fix he said it would be expensive. 2 weeks have pass and I have not heard from him he said he had to order it , does it take that long to get hum ?
Gee., I hope not long, just found out today, I need one too. Thank goodness mine is in stock. Thank goodness my York brand is still under warranty, 2 months shy of hitting the 10 yr warranty 9 yr old a piece of junk. I just have to pay labor, shy of 2K. I have another HVAC system that is 24 years old. Yes, builder grade installed R22 refrigerant unit, living through 100-120 degree summers. Attic probably 140 degrees. Some tech refuse to work on it. But found a great local small company.
@@threeftr3349 Dam shame the units and labor are a big rip off today. I paid 2k at 4 years for coil labor a month later the fan motor went out. Ruud units are total trash.
Called my tech today, he's checking. He said it was in stock by manufacture-YORK, a week ago, so hopefully soon. It's only 95-100 outside lol. At least I don't have to pay for the part. The tech is good, he will make sure the part is working properly, because my warranty runs out in July.
Hey @Perskakras thanks for the feedback. We are aware that many companies are just trying to sell a new system and in some cases that's what the homeowner should do. In other cases, they should simply replace the Evap Coil. This is exactly why we shared this video, to educate the homeowner on theirs choices so they can make a confident decision on what makes the most sense for their home and finances.
Precisely. Just last week I had requested for a servicing for my air-conditioning system. However, the moment the tech opened the cover of my indoor unit, he said that it cannot be cleaned and that I have to replace the entire unit. He kept hard selling me a new system. I told him off for he was clearly being dishonest. Even if the coil is badly corroded, a trained tech can easily replace just the evaporator coil.
@@rgseven6557 There is nothing easy about replacing a coil. Especially the older ones. A lot of labor time plus the actual cost of the coil. You are looking at thousands to complete that repair. And if it was low on charge for a while, you may have caused damage to other components....
My part was under warranty and cost $1950 with two techs to install in attic. A York (9yr 8 months old), yes the warranty was 2 months shy of running out. All aluminum part, they added a filter dryer, and added whatever R410A refrigerant it needed.
The HVAC business is changing drastically. Prices are only going up. You probably have a R410A refrigerant unit. Your refrigerant in your unit is being phased out, meaning if you have a leak, it's going to be more expensive to replace it. In the US, the AIM Act authorized the EPA to set standards for the gradual phase out of HFC. The EPA released the first guideline for HFC production reduction in 2021 and will continue until 2036. EPA has proposed banning the use of R410-A in new air conditioners and heat pumps by January 1, 2025.
Just took my. Car in cause my Radiator was leaking. Told me my new radiator will not be compatible with my engine. So he sold me a New Engine thats compatible with my new radiator. N since my new engine couldnt be mated to an old Transmission guess what.....yes i now have a new Transmission too. Cant be to safe out there

What's with the creppy mannequin or person behind you
That’s the homie
😂😅
That is not a mannequin. It is one of their ex customers who refused to replace their coil.
What's your expert opinion of the soft start
If it was a good idea the heat pump would come with a soft start. As long as any product has a slick marketing team than people will buy it.

He doesn't answer the 3 questions he asked. Age, refrigerant and how long do you plan on living in the home. He just says call him.
