  • Rare and vintage horse drawn wagons are the feature in Part 1 of our private tour of Clarence Pearson's (aka Junior) horse drawn vehicle museum.
First Junior tells us about how he got started collecting, selling and then starting his museum. The museum is open by appointment with a suggested $10 donation. A guided tour is recommended and costs a bit more. He restores many of the wagons himself.
He walks us around the wagon display and shows us wagons from many manufacturers. He tells us about the many wagon companies that were bought and sold.
Here is a list of the manufacturer of some of the wagons we see:
Weber, IH, McCormick Deering, Charter Oaks, Burkings, WCW Co, John Deere, Davenport, Studebaker, Montgomery Ward, Mitchell.
We see his collection of seats, a covered cooks wagon, Plaris oil wagon and brake skid.

This reminds me of the story's I was told about the way my grandmother grew up. She used horse's on the farm when she was a girl but then they got replaced in WW2 when the government gave the farm a Farmall H.

Did they use the wagons to just haul from the fields? Or to grain elevators? When did the grain elevator come along?

What is the odd shaped board on the back of many of the wagons for ?

Like at 14:52..maybe it opens to let the grain out through a smaller door, not sure.

Question, is any of the items in the museum structurely sound to use still with horses? Like for demonstrations.
