    The reason why some important scenes were missing is because it was supposed to be a short for the opening of the re-release of The Rescuers.

      RIP to Will Ryan who voiced Mole, Willie the Giant, Pete, Big Bad Wolf, and one of the weasels in this special.

    I wonder if Jiminy Cricket as one of the ghosts is a reference to the Pinocchio book, where the talking cricket became a ghost.

    it's just such a good short i try to watch atleast once around the season. of course, my rage towards ABC Family (now Freeform) starts to boil when i think how they cut corners for commercials and thus cut bits of Goofy as Jacob Marley out. luckily for that time there was ways to watch it like Snowed in at the House of Mouse that, while spacing the special with plot from the TV movie still had the whole thing on it so i couldn't be mad.

    Good lord, that scene with Scrooge over the flaming coffin still has me running to church.

    I assume this was my introduction to a Christmas Carol and this short was shown for the re-issue of the Rescuers, (hope to see you review Prancer next year!)

    Like with Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic), this was my introduction to the "A Christmas Carol" stoy. The difference is that the way I first saw it was in the 2001 direct to DVD movie, "Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse", which kinda makes Donald's portrayl of Fred really contrast with actual Donald who spent half the movie being miserable on Christmas, but it was never explained why that was.

    I honestly wonder what the hell Goofy as Jacob Marley did to end up like that

    • @TherealRNOwwfpooh
      @TherealRNOwwfpooh 2 года назад +2

      As Marley-Goofy said, "Remember when I was alive, I robbed from the widows & swindled the poor?" Scrooge: "Yes, and all in the same day! Oh, you had class, Jacob." Marley-Goofy: ~chuckles, slightly proud before realizing his mistake~ "Yep! I mean...NO! No, was wrong! As punishment, I am forced to wear these heavy chains for all eternity! ~pauses to look out towards the audience~ Or maybe even longer. ~clutches at Scrooge in despair before warning him~ I'm doomed. Doomed! And the same thing WILL happen to YOU, Ebeneezer Scrooge!"

    Daisy does seem like a odd choice as his love interest. Why not Goldy while know she is from comics I believe she did also appear in a episode of the show.

    When I was a kid, having not seen Disney's Ichabod and Mr. Toad, I thought the guys asking for donations were cartoony versions of Basil and Dawson from The Great Mouse Detective.

    1:31-1:39 I mean, Scotland is part of the UK (at least geographically speaking). So yeah, Scrooge is technically British (though one should never say that to a Scot's face).

    1:24 I mean who else but him? He was literally MADE to play this part. 😏
    9:55 That could be said for every iteration of "A Christmas Carol". The other ghosts may have softened him up, but it was always the Ghost of Christmas Future who straight-up SCARED Scrooge into compliance.

  • @NaiTaiDai

    At first I wondered why they didn't use a younger Goldie to play off a younger Scrooge, but now I guess the writers thought Daisy was more fitting for the character of Belle.

      And also this was the return of Mickey and the gang after years of Missing in action after the end of the classics shorts, so they had to put Daisy somewhere.

  • @artbytesia

    I do find this short to be pretty good for what it is (definitely a vast improvement over both A Flipmas Carol from The Loud House and the Jim Carrey version). The only real gripe I have with it is the end of the future part; something about it just rubs me the wrong way. "Remember, kids, be nice and giving, or a horrible and fiery death awaits you!" See what I mean? I mean, sheesh! Talk about hammering in the message! I may be a Christian, but even I know that giving people, especially kids, a message in that manner is a bad idea. It's a mistake a lot of Christians tend to make, trying to force secular people into believing. That's not the way to go about it, because then secular people think we're trying to judge them.
    Overall though, I do like this short.

    • @TherealRNOwwfpooh
      @TherealRNOwwfpooh 2 года назад +1

      Bill Farmer & Jim Cummings were Goofy & Pete by this point, actually, so there was no need for dubbing what was already there.

    I watched this when I was about 6 or 7 at school, for the longest time, I thought that Scrooge was played by Ludwig Von Drake, mostly cause i never grew up with Ducktales, I still don't know how I got them mixed them since they have completely different accents.

    … I think you mean it’s weird for an English character to have a Scottish accent. Scottish people ARE British. The countries of England, Scotland and Wales make up Great Britain add Northern Ireland and that’s the United Kingdom.
