@@maxxmich high tech makes them more reliable. Electronics are one of the most reliable parts about tractors. Nobody ever said that ecu or other parts broke. Even if some important part breaks ecu will adjust to keep it running. Many new tractors already have more hours than some 40yo tractors cause they are often used. Also it's super easy to diagnose with diagnostic tools etc. Also lots of integrated features that are a must in farming like automatic steer and section control that just haven't existed on old tractors but can be added with many universal kits today. So people that actually do farming know this like laura and lauras family. It's like comparing old key phone to smartphone. Both are phones but old phones can't do video calls.
Laura be thankful for that relationship with your Dad. Not everybody has that. My sons and I go around and around all the time in a good way but my Dad (long divorced from Mom) stopped returning my calls about 15 years ago and totally ignored his grandsons growing up. Watching you interact with family is the best part of your channel. Best to Grandpa!
my dad dont even care about me and i and my sister and mom moved by my stepdads house and he lives on a farm and every day i help him on the farm and he is my true dad
100% agree. I didn't see my dad for 18 years (because he was bully and a general all around prick) and only saw him the one time the week before he died.
One of the great things about generational farms is working with parents and grandparents. Envious of the ability to spend that time together while making a living. It's truly a blessing. All the best to Grandpa Curt!!!🙏
Laura, your smile, attitude and work ethic are truly inspirational. You and Grant are truly role models for younger people. I really enjoy your videos. ps You are so knowledgeable you occasionally teach this old farmer things! Prayers for your Grandpa and family
We’re screamers 😂 yep 👍 that’s kind of a Carlson/Nelson trait ❤️ I’d saw we are just excited about life and family 🥰 I could almost smell the fresh cut silage 🌽🍀🌱🌿
Laura and Dad that was great loved it short but great video thank you for sharing and your time was really great never miss a video and can't wait for next one.
Still be able to put up some footage in these days, thanks👍Give grandpa my blessings from the Netherlands, hope he's coming home soon.🙏🏻As mentioned before: take your time on family visits (as far as work on a farm let's you), we can wait😉👍
Laura, I love seeing the inter action between you and your dad, it's great to watch. Not many young girls can get along with the parents, you get along with all of the elders that you are in contact with, at least when you show it. Do you get along with Grants parents also, we seldom see them? Hoping that you have a good harvest, looking forward to seeing it. Take care, be safe and farm on.
Take it from someone that lost months due to illness back in 2000, the most important thing you can do for a farmer that is down for the count is to keep things going. Concern for what's happening to your life's work while you are sick can become all consuming. I'm sure your grandfather appreciates knowing that all is being taken care of more than you will know unless/until you find yourself in a similar situation.
I really like Grant's quiet style as well. I can actually think of a couple of popular tv programs here in Denmark where the presenter has the same calmness.
And I wish your granfather the best recovery! My father passed away from cancer last year so I remember very well how it feels going through all the uncertainty and anxiety. Sadly, my father didn't make it, but hopefully all will be well with your grandfather in the end. All the best to you and your family!
Laura, you have an awesome personality and are so much fun to watch on video. Grant may be somewhat more reserved but he is also very good on videos and we DO look forward to seeing him also. You are very lucky to have such a nice, close family. I respect your family's privacy but we would love to see occasionally videos that included your parents, grandparents and siblings if they would be willing. I suspect that your family is more "special" than you may realize. Thanks for your hard work and honesty!
Father’s and Daughters. My daughters love to argue with me. We can say the exact same thing but hear it differently. Praying for your grandpa and family.
I was like...keep going, KEEP going, KEEP GOING, UGH! Let that tailgate knock that loose stuff out! I'm a city boy, I know absolutely NOTHING about farming, but I've pulled plenty of dump wagons. Between the vibrator, and letting the tailgate smack the bed a few times, it makes for an empty trailer!
yes - the john deere 5830 is probably the better vehicle! he won't go up in flames like some of the others from john deere. it is simply constructed and can be operated more efficiently without the storage - also cheaper to maintain! great that you have something like this and use it!
I have a gleaner combine that works like that. Wonderful wonderful heat in July and August! And the air conditioning works beautifully in December. Bundle up picking corn open the door when you cut the small grain crop but we aren't that big we don't live in it just for a day or two each harvest it's fast I'll live without the air I wouldn't give up my big head though it's so much faster than pool type
That's a space age tractor with all those switch's and dieles. My Massey Ferguson 390T is totally Manuel. She just has one gearshifter 12 gears and 3 reverse gears and 4x4. It's simple to drive. Year 1998. And still going strong. That's what you call a tractor.
I just like the looks better of the older choppers like yours, there is something about them, they just look more powerful with the square body I guess, more mean looking :) And, I hope your grandfather is getting better too, best wishes for his recovery!
5830 pre-DEF don't give up those old machines. Oh my back, just watching you go over those rows. I have deep lug tires and I can't go very fast the vibration is rough.
I think the reason some might think your are chopping early is usually you chop corn after the ear and kernels are fully developed. Of course that's for dairy cows who need the protein and nutrients from the kernel to produce milk. If you're feeding beef cattle it might not be necessary.
You said "idk but we will get it". That was sort of the the mentality behind my farm name which is "It'll Do Farms". That phrase seems to get used a lot so I just went with it.
i really like grant and you and your dad and everyone in your family you guys is so great so for the people who don't like grant or your dad forget them
It's always interesting to see the things that are considered secrets and technology. I saw a video where Elon Musk was being questioned about why he does not hire anyone other than American citizens and he flat-out said because he cannot because rocket technology is considered weapons technology and he is not allowed to hire anyone the government has not approved of, it's interesting hearing about such things.
It's similar to why the USA cannot export such technology without Department Of State approval, as State administer the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This includes not only weapons, but anything which could assist in a weapons system fulfilling its mission, e.g. C4ISR equipment such as satellite communications technology. Then there's the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) administered by the Commerce Department - this covers equipment which is civilian, or possibly dual use (could be used by military). While not as restrictive as ITAR, it still requires a declaration by the purchaser regarding who the end user will be, and restricts possible re-sale. All documentation and intellectual property associated with equipment (e.g. user handbooks, maintenance manuals, training material, etc) is also covered by the relevant Regulations (ITAR or EAR as applicable). And Heaven help anyone who knowingly, or unknowingly, transgresses. E.g, about three decades ago, one of the big US aerospace companies unwittingly revealed some information restricted by ITAR to a certain opposing super-power, even though it was with regard to a civilian application - the resulting fines and embargo on bidding for government contracts for a certain time were eye-watering!
used tractors bringing premium prices around herem JD revolt. Nobody likes working on the new ones with all the electronics and proprietary codes make it impossible. Higher parts prices too. New ones just sitting in dealership this year. Wake up JD ! thanks for the smiles Laura
GOD BLESS🙏🙏 POPPA CURT.. HELLO0O0O0O0 THERE Miss laura.. 🌽 🌽 When your father lay's his head down at night.. I'm betting he has a smile on his face from having a wonderful day with his daughter🌻🌻 take care god bless your family🙏🙏
The beauty of the older machines-- they're paid for, and they have so few electronics they are reliable as hell!
that's so true....
I think the high tech Electonics actually breaks the equipment more them making it more high tech and "innovative"
And when they do break you can fix them. The new equipment you need a 10k dollar computer and a degree.
@@maxxmich high tech makes them more reliable. Electronics are one of the most reliable parts about tractors. Nobody ever said that ecu or other parts broke. They started cutting here in Connecticut I was following one of the trucks getting covered with stuff getting blown out of the body
Good job Laura
That's a different chopper head for corn then I'm used too. And I'm used to wagons with roofs.
I think the reason some might think your are chopping early is usually you chop corn after the ear and kernels are fully developed. Of course that's for dairy cows who need the protein and nutrients from the kernel to produce milk. If you're feeding beef cattle it might not be necessary.
