    I use an Andonstar myself, and I confirm that your review is perfectly honest and nothing but the truth. The picture itself is amazing, and if you play a little bit with the lights (i.e. put them at an angle) it will be even better. The downside is the working space and the working stand, because bigger boards will wobble around. Personally I do not use the screen it comes with (mine is 7 inch). I'm instead connecting it to the computer and viewing the image via the "Microscope Measure" software. It's definitely a good scope to start with. Great video :)

    Great video Chase! When I remortgaged my house in order to buy the Northridge fix microscope... LOL it is worth every penny I paid for it and I don't know how I've went 41 years in the industry without it!!! And remember this my son when I get back to work I want my Northridge microscope back LOL!!!

    Big Boss is soooo proud of you! That scope with the screen with goose neck arms are pretty sweet as well. The zoom is nuts though. if the company does and takes you review, that scope could be a contender!! Lets see what that company comes and takes the review into just! It has alot going for it, leasts hole this compnay does not takes these comments in biaus! gangster homie!

    You can easily get a custom 3d printed bracket that works with vesa mounts, if you don't have a 3d printer you can probably get it printed relatively cheap from someone else. I think I've even found the model for that thing.

    Ive got one of the really cheap usb ones with the light ring and ive adapted a sprung light stand and it works great. Usb to 24 inch pc monitor total cost at a guess is about $40 bucks. Sometimes if you have the knowledge to build something yourself you should use it. Half of my equipment is just put to gether or modified equipment. Yihua rework station with a weller iron. Preheater homemade. Plus losts test equipment homemade or kits. So in a shrinking economy i would say have a go yourselves.

      I’ve tried that exact scope. It just isn’t as good as an optical zoom binocular/trinocularscope. I screwed up many different BGA’s because of it. It just can get the necessary details on the actual pins or pads of the part you are working on. Now you can totally use a digital scope but that one is not good for microsoldering. Buy an Optical trinocularscope. It’s the most essential microsoldering tool after the soldering iron.

      @@samuelmagilocusts2870 In my opinion it's always a lottery when buying a cheap camera one out of ten maybe great. All the rest are crappy optically and sensors are also the same. But for the type of work i do which isn't rebaling i don't need such fine detail. If i wanted i have plenty of super hd cameras at my work that are surplus to requirements. As i work for a major harsh environment camera manufacturer. So 800x600 camera will do for my small project work i do at home. On a budget just think if you can modify something for a lower price do it.

    If you get time can you post your settings for V1 from NRF microscope? The V1 is the IMX307 and I’m curious to see how yours is setup. You video quality with this one is really good.

      @@chasefournier Hey not a problem man ! We are all busy :). I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!! Wow that's good for stock. I have the same camera but not from NRF. If you get time can you still take a snip of you settings for me? I purchased this one from Ali-Express and mine definitely doesn't look great like yours. I'm assuming they set his cameras up with the settings he wanted prior to shipping them. I have tweaked mine and I really like how mine are for the most part but I would still like to compare if possible. The only reason I know the sensor type is because on his forums I asked one of his buyers to take it apart to check the sensor for me to see if his was really IMX290 because in his description it was tagged "IMX290" so many people thought it was also. I think the vendor lied to him when he did his big order. Multiple people in his forum responded and told me they all said "*** 307" on the pcb. I originally purchased mine overseas because they claimed it was the IMX290 and even sent a " OLD " PCB picture showing the IMX290 print on the board. When I got mine they told me right before mine shipped they ran out and just decided to send me the IMX307 instead of contacting me. Long story short - All the IMX290 camera's being sold on Ali-Express that are named IMX290 are the IMX307 or the even worse IMX185. I confirmed this with the manufacture for EAKINS and LAPSUN. Ali-Express refunded a good amount since they lied. I only paid about 87$ total after the refund for the camera. My camera has the same UI and available settings like NRF's V1. I want to get the best image I can or I'm going to buy another one for my videos.

    The AndonStar brand is well known! Another fellow on YT took an AndonStar or similar and mounted it to an old microphone boom, so it wasn't limited to the base. One cool or useful feature on the AndonStar is some or most of their models have an HDMI port. I am not sure how well the base / platform can handle heat! Good to see you shaven! Happy Turkey Day! Prayers to you and family! I think some models of A-Star come with a remote. Good word! Investment! It's the long run, time, daily use is worth it!

    FYI, the audio is out of sync for the whole video which is very distracting (for some of us, at least) - Just a heads up if there is anything in your production chain that needs fixing.

    I'm torn as to whether to get the stereo trinocular scope or the HDMI setup like NorthRidgeFix.
    How do those two specifically compare with each other?
    Is the latter better for back pain (NRF looks so laid back when working, not hunched over all the time)?
    Would I need the stereo scope if I was to want to go into data recovery (very fine soldering)?

    • @chasefournier
      @chasefournier  Месяц назад

      Both work amazing. You loose depth perception with NRF scope, but you get used to not having it.
      They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
      I use the NRF scope full time now, my first pick tbh :)

    Hi Chase, what stand do you use for the Parco microscope? and will the NF camera also work on on the same stand? and or attached to the Parco microscope?

    • @chasefournier
      @chasefournier  Год назад

      I'm using a double arm boom stand. However there are clamping, fully adjustable mounts like NF at parcoscientific.com/microscopy/industrial-microscopes/pa-8-series-articulating-arm-pillar-clamp-stand.html
      Contact them, they should be able to sell you a stand only :)
      Edit: and yes, they will all work for NF camera scope.

    I use an Amscope Trifocal - it's pretty nice, but good C-Mount cameras are kinda expensive. I'd like one like the addonstar, but c-mount. I think the prices are so high for some accessories because these are mostly used by clinics and diagnostic labs?

    • @chasefournier

      It seems like that's the case to be honest.
