  • This is my experience with AmScope purchase which was disapointing. In the video I mentioned the downsides of my choice of scope and how it is going to be corrected in the near future.

    Pal, I've been researching for WEEKS, and am HOURS away from buying (it's in my cart). Something deep down made me suspicious of this exact articulating arm in the exact place it failed you from just looking at the pictures. I kept researching trying to find anyone who would talk about it, as I know a thing or two about these arms from the videography world. Not a single person or review ever mentioned it. I swear if I didn't watch your video in the next hour I would've paid $300 right now and would've HATED this thing.Thank you!

    If you watch electronics repair people like Louis Rossmann, they explicitly say go for a simul-focus trinocular and also recommend the boom arm over the articulated as any benefits of the ease of movement of the articulated is negated by the fact the microscope head vibrates easily. The boom arm types are more awkward to adjust but keep the microscope a lot more steady. Sorry you never found this out in time.

      I feel another problem is the articulation would benefit heavily from being bolted to the wall instead of on the table, it removes lots of vibration issues id imagine

    • @DallasAutoDiag
      @DallasAutoDiag  Год назад

      @DissentingTirade I think that's a great idea. I might do that in the future.

      The problem is they discuss the wrong thing. Vibration is easily mitigated by mounting on something like a shelf or nearby desk. I watched Louis, but assumed I'd just mount it off the desk. I would be wrong, and only this fellows video actually points out vibration isn't the only concern. Arguably, this defect is even worse as sagging is a gravity issue not a movement issue, and does not go away just being still

    Louis Rossmann (great RUclipsr) goes through a lot of this stuff, and he recommends AmScope but with the boom and simul-focal, for the same reasons as in this video.

    I went for the Amscope trinocular (same you got since for occasional use I didn't have the budget for simulfocal, it's still fine to use) on a boom arm ... after checking a lot of YT videos. For the camera I settled on a Hayear, which has a very complete setup (SD, HDMI, USB) ... I even added a large zoom lens so I can use it independently as an overhead cam :D

    • @DallasAutoDiag

    personally, I prefer O.C. White! not as cheap but worth it! you can get the trinocular with camera for about $3700, the typical boom stand which you can move forward and backward without the axis turning on you. I feel your pain on the AmScope! O.C. White PZ6.5 trinocular cam does not leave you with mono-vision and plugs into USB and you can just select it like another camera in your computer. I also like the .7X Barlow lens which allows me better visibility for inspection and soldering the new 008004 size components, no problem with the 01005's.

    I bought an AmScope ESSLNB 40X-2000X and have not been able to see anything other than on it's lowest magnification setting. I'm not sure it's broken, or if I'm doing something wrong, but the manual is so bad I can't quite tell. Is there a way to contact the manufacturer for help, or do you know of any useful vids specific to this model? Thanks.

    my 2 cents :
    between a stereo or a trinocular wihout simul focal, i would choose the first one :
    -you'll never know when the mecanical inside the last willl break because you switch again and again on your camera,
    -the stereo one is 100$ cheaper ? but you can find a mount for a smartphone to fix it on microscope (on one of the ocular)
    i can't totally agree with you about not finding video about simul focal, it's just ,for the most part, they are not on electronic repair chanel ;) (or the info are find in 3sec of a 30min video)
    and on electronic repair channel, they just say to buy this or that one (precisely)
    for amscope ,in the sm series, the P is the key :
    SM-3tp
    sm-4tp
    sm-8tp
    have simul focal

    buy a used or new ergotron monitor arm, then you can buy VESA Adapters, and get that mounted and flexible perfect. i probably should do a video on it, it works great! i have a laptop rigged up. also buy iFootage Spider Crab arms, they are the BEST Hold some weight and don't move.

      @markc.5750 Год назад

      Agreed. 100% customer issue, do your own research and read the specs. Not all trinoculars are simul-focal. If it doesn’t say simul-focal….plus if your see the switch on the head you know it’s not simul-focal. And that’s the way Barlow lenses work. You can’t argue with physics. There’s a lot to learn with microscopes and the industry doesn’t help themselves.

    • @sethreign8103
      @sethreign8103 Год назад +2

      @Markus how do you logically go from saying it's 100% the consumers fault then go on to say the industry doesn't help itself which suggests that it's partly the fault of the entire industry?

    • @melgross
      @melgross 2 дня назад

      @@markc.5750if you’re new to something, you likely don’t know there may be advantages and disadvantages to product differences. There are several basic differences in how they work, but manufacturers often don’t articulate those differences. I do agree that Barlow adapters change the focal length of the objective. That’s their purpose. Giving more working distance is what he needed. And yes, it should be understood that it would make the scope ride higher. But you’d be surprised at how people don’t always think of consequences. I would just raise my chair.
