This is one of the best hacks I have ever learned. My heels now look tight and neat. I now have 4 skeins of the Lofton line. They are gorgeous. I just love when Anne says "don't worry it will be fine", too many stitches?Just knit 2 together. You guys are the greatest.
So wonderful to see you again! I'm hoping you'll give us a tour of the garden sometime. I'm sure after all your care and hard work it's an amazing and lovely place.
I've only recently discovered your channel, and I very much enjoy your demonstrations, and tutorials. I think one of my most favorite things about you guys is the way you're so very kind and gracious to each other. ☺️🧶
Dear Arne and Carlos, My sympathy is with both of you in this time of great sorrow. Since I care about you both, I am thankful that you have each other during this time of loss. In true form, you are moving forward in spite of diversity. It is great to see you again! Thank you for all that you do. 🧶🧶🧶
So wonderful to see you both. I like how you lean on each other for support. Carlos, you look great and well rested. Arne, don’t worry about your hands. They reflect generations of hard work and creativity. They are perfect! Sending love to you both!
Arne, thank you for showing us how you pick up the stitches. I've been picking up both legs and knitting the stitch them rather than picking up a row of stitches. Your way seems quicker. I've been darning up my holes and maybe your technique will help there, too. Finally your Norwegian knitting method is quicker than flicking so I'm going to try to move over to your way. Love you guys!
I can't wait to try to pick up my stitches this way. I usually put the needle through both parts of the stitch on the edge and use the working yarn to make the stitch. I'm glad I didn't skip over this video thinking that I knew it all already. I'm working on my 4th of the 8 from the Lofoten collection, Thank you guys
Can I be honest? Spring and summer I skip all knitting programs. But come the hint of fall, all I want is your videos! ♥️♥️♥️ you’ve an incredibly cozy, warm, and inviting spirit.
I am still scared to try socks... I keep reading and reading on how to do them, but reluctant to try. Your video is so greatly appreciated because it encourages me that everything will be ok because this is a secret hack to have a perfect sock. With knowledge comes confidence. I love & appreciate the both of you SO MUCH!
Watching this made me realize how much I’ve missed seeing you two in real time (well, almost real time!). I can’t wait for sit and knit for a bit and I really miss Dogme camera style videos as well ;)
Sock knitting is my new favorite thing because it’s quick and light, good (as you say) for summer knitting. I also loved your last-summer’s-video (when you were way up north) on how to repair a beloved sock. Thank you two! Now get back to resting up. You’ve had quite a year (longer than that, I realize).
How lovely to see you once again on my telly box, you have both been missed and always love a bit of sock knitting. Take care and keep sharing your joy 🧶🌼💕
Boy Arne, you have so many great tips! So simple yet so effective. These are the kinds of techniques I would never have known. Basically I'm a self taught knitter. No one in my family knows how to knit. At this point I'm hoping to share this skill with my grandkids (my own kids don't have an interest). I started knitting at about age 6 when a neighbor showed me the basic knit stitch. From there my Mom found a yarn shop who would teach beginners if you bought her yarn. She taught me to knit one pair of slippers. From then on it was me learning for myself. I was single Mom and had to focus my life on my kids and job so I didn't do much knitting until 5 years before I retired from that same job. I'm so glad to have found you both for my journey of rediscovering the joy of knitting. Thank you so much!
Hello both - can I just say this is one of the best videos I've seen on sock issues. I think I've now cracked sock knitting, but I was worried about the loose gusset stitches on one side and the little gaps. Twisting stitches and lifting/knitting that pesky loose stitch on the back are the answers! Thanks so much for both of these great tips, I am now enjoying my sock knitting, at long last!
I love this tip and can't wait to knit another pair of socks. I've already knit a pair with one of the Lofotens colours and have another ball of yarn to start on. So I'll put the Christmas balls on hold for now (another little summer project) and get on with some more socks. Thank you for all your great knitting advice. xx
I’m binge watching your videos from the past few months, we’ve been travelling around U.K. in our campervan. Thoroughly enjoying the different tips for knitting sock heels and picking up stitches ( the bit I don’t enjoy) , I’m off to buy some sock yarn.🙂
Perfect timing - I'll be casting on some socks later today with a skein of your Lofoten yarn! I have three colors to choose from in my stash and will save one skein for the Save Bear. I enjoy these tutorials and very much hope you continue Sit and Knit for a Bit even after we aren't all home so much. I really enjoy the podcast, especially the Norwegian culture and history and in fact, while I can't visit a Stave church in Norway (I live in Minnesota), I am going to visit a full size replica of the Gol Stave church in Bismarck, South Dakota and the Scandinavian Heritage Center as part of my summer vacation in a couple weeks - inspired by your road trip last summer.
I"ve not tried the twisted stitch but when i pick up my stitches instead of picking up the first stitch like you did i pick up the leg first then the puck up stitches . then when i go in the round i do like you did by stitching the the two together on each of the sides .
I'm just about to start the heel on my Regia Lofoten in the Nusfjord colourway so I'll try your tip. Picking up the heel stitches and working the gusset of a sock is is my favourite part, but I've never used a needle to pick up all the stitches at once. You've always got such simple and useful tips, thank you. Love seeing you back again! 💙🧦🧦💙 you both look great 👍👍
What about the heel turn? The way you picked up all the stitches then knit them is new to me. Maybe its just the crappy day and I need to watch again..... Love to you as always. Hugs WAHx'
So glad you are back and thanks for showing the sock heel. I looked for the Prym yarn twirly and could not find it on the American site. Handicraft.com is now the Prym site in the US. I have been using their circular and straight needles ( I still won't give my Boye) . Covid is back up again here in NJ. Please be careful. Again, SO happy you are back.
WOW! This is fantastic and may get me knitting socks again. I have to admit - I have always picked up and knitted one stitch at a time. I will have to practice Arne's technique of picking up all the stitches in that section, then knitting them off. And I finally understand why I always have a harder time twisting stitches on the "traveling up" side. Thank you!
I’m from America so I knit the American way. I am trying to teach myself the Norwegian way because it seems to be faster. But I’m finding it hard to keep the yarn on my left index finger in tighter. The yarn gets so loose it falls off my finger. I’ll keep at it and hope I get better. Keep up the good work. Love ❤️ you guys.
You guys are the very best love you both your tips are amazing as you are lots of love and thank you very much from Lorraine in Bonny Scotlan ❤You guys rock❤
Thank you! I used to dread heel flaps, so I switched to toe up socks with short row heels. Now, I’m inspired to try again. You just made picking up those stitches so much easier.
i started off with toe up and short rows also . just really didn"t like the way they looked . so i learned the heal flap and love it . i pick up the ladder then the stitch on each side when i do mine . no holes this way
Thank you so much really enjoyed! Best tip ever not just knitting 🧶 socks but anything that’s needs stitches picked up ! I pick up and knit but much better the Arne way! Xx 😘
This is one of the best hacks I have ever learned. My heels now look tight and neat. I now have 4 skeins of the Lofton line. They are gorgeous. I just love when Anne says "don't worry it will be fine", too many stitches?Just knit 2 together. You guys are the greatest.
Arne you are a knitting genius!
I have been picking up incorrectly all my sock life!!!!! Game changing. 🇨🇦❤️🇳🇴

Yea! No more holes! Thanks so much for the tip.
Glad you are back. I was afraid we’d miss the whole summer at your house and garden. Sympathy to you both, too.
❤️
Dear Arne and Carlos, My sympathy is with both of you in this time of great sorrow. Since I care about you both, I am thankful that you have each other during this time of loss. Great tip! Arne I looooove your purple beetle shirt 🕷

Thank you. What a game changer. ❤ from Kelowna BC Canada
This is so much better than the way I’ve been shown. Thank you so much!
You are welcome!
Love the "bug" shirt, Arne. Very summer stylish.
Thank you!
So wonderful to see you both. I like how you lean on each other for support. Carlos, you look great and well rested. Arne, don’t worry about your hands. They reflect generations of hard work and creativity. They are perfect! Sending love to you both!
Arne, your hands are my hands. -) happy knitting.
This is so useful to me. I’m just learning how to knit socks.
Perfect timing!
I just used Arne’s method of picking up stitches on a heel flap…. SO must easier! Thank you for the tip!
Great to see u both back I surely missed seeing u both💜💜
Thank you!
I can't wait to try to pick up my stitches this way. I usually put the needle through both parts of the stitch on the edge and use the working yarn to make the stitch. Welcome back😍
Good tip to fix a hole, I always find it easier to fix things as I go that way I don't have to go back afterwards.
Love the new opening and 👏🏻👏🏻 to the videographer. Appreciate the background chirping, lighting, environment and ok the knitting lesson.
I'll have to use this tip on my next pair of socks! Thanks guys 🥰😘
I live in Miami, don't wear socks, BUT I Love You Guys!
No need to wear socks to watch!🤗
Miss you guys love watching these videos

Hi guys. I enjoyed the podcast. Always love to see you knitting. The sock yarn is a lovely colour. Take care and see you soon xxx
You as well Annie!
You guys are my lifesavers. I love this as I’ve always stressed out about the sock holes. Not any more. Yippee.

I love the tip about tightening the loose stitches! So great - thanks!!

Welcome back. Great seeing u both for the autumn season of knitting. Yeah!!! 🥳🥳👌👌👍👍👏👏👏
Ok, I will begin to knit socks…as soon as I finish the other UFOs! Welcome back!

The tutorial is about picking up the stitches and we used the sock we had available for demonstration purposes only.
Perfect timing,,I co a new sock this morning. 👍❣🤗🧶
As always, Arne makes it look easy!
Oh, that's great timing - I am, indeed, currently knitting socks. :-)
Always good to see you both. Thank you for sharing this. God bless

Thanks guys! Very helpful as usual 🙂
YAY! So glad to see you again! I hope that you enjoyed your vacation❤️
I'm starting a sock today! I can't believe after all my years of knitting that I didn't come up with these tricks myself; thanks for sharing!
Great tips! Thanks for sharing! ❤️
I love how you pick up stitches. I’m looking forward to trying it this way. Thanks!
Arne, I love your shirt!!!
Thank you!
Glad you're back.
One of the best tutorials ever! Thank you!! Starting a pair of socks tonight.
WOW! This is fantastic and may get me knitting socks again. I have to admit - I have always picked up and knitted one stitch at a time. Thank you for your tip! I’m just beginning to kit socks.
You two are great. Thank you.
Thank you so much for teaching this as I always get holes in socks! xx
Timely, because I'm just now coming to the heel flap and stitch pickup on a sock I'm knitting. . I'll give this a try.
Me too. I can’t grip it to control the tension except when I use it for two strands, and the Left hand for the least dominant color.
It is such a blessing to see you again!! Missed you both!! I am grateful for the tips and the banter!!
Thank you Arne and Carlos for the great knitting tips! Your sock yarn looks stunning!
Bravo!! Thank you so much! Great tip!! 🤗❤️🙋

Good tips. Thank you.
Thank you so much really enjoyed! Best tip ever not just knitting 🧶 socks but anything that’s needs stitches picked up ! I pick up and knit but much better the Arne way! Xx 😘

Welcome back! So good to see you! Thank you for another awesome tutorial!
This is so helpful, I have been using a tapestry needle to fix my holes but this is SO slick! Thank you! Enjoy your summer!
