+Carmen CES He is speaking German with a thick Hungarian accent, pretending to be Franz Liszt.

+Frank Pam Actually Liszt did not have a Hungarian accent. He spoke German with a slight Austrian accent (see August Göllerich, "Franz Liszt", Berlin, 1908, p. 200).

+Martin Adler You are probably right. He was born in Raiding on the border of Austria and Hungary and spent much of his childhood there. At 10 he went to Vienna to study until his family moved to Paris when he was almost 12. His mother was of south German or Austrian origin (and the Bavarian accent is similar to Austrian). He visited Hungary for the first time since his childhood (having given concerts there at the age of 9) at the age of 28.

+Martin Adler Nevertheless Katsaris made it clear that his "Hungarian" accent was because he was pretending to be Liszt, who is always referred to as a Hungarian composer.

+Frank Pam You are right: although not historically correct, Katsaris made himself understood.
