Usually the suction disapates because of the ring. Once the ring is in place it seems to inhibit the suction entirely. I'd recommend not putting the ring in place to start with, because once it's in place, trying to remove it will cause a back draft of suction that could suck you out of your house, your wallet and half of your lifes work. Those rings are kind of obsolete these days. I definitely would recommend the ringless models.😂✌
