- I went to Devon to see friends and managed to fit in a spring dip on Dartmoor. It was a great combination of a stroll and scramble over a couple of tors and a bit of detective work to find a secluded Dartmoor swim. What an outdoor swimming destination - there's water everywhere!
I found did some accidental letterboxing too, find out more about that here visitdartmoor....

See you in the water soon.
Your self-deprecating humour is just great. Good on you, Rachel.
Oh thank you! 🏊♀️😀
Ha Rachel that river looked well fresh, sitting having a homemade hot cross bun in the sun looks so nice and peaceful, good for the soul,do you worry about some of the rivers been polluted by fertilisers not good, hope the party went well .🏊♂️👍
The party was a blast! I do consider likely pollution when I'm swimming, but here it was a minimal concern due to how high up in the water course I was.
Looks lush! I love an adventure 😊 x
Yay! Another lovely video, you have made my day!
You are so kind x
WoW Rachel, there’s so much to love about this video… BUT firstly, huge CONGRATS at hitting12K subscribers!! What that really means is that there are 12K of us nature loving, wild swimmers from around the globe who are so fortunate to be treated to your interesting, fun, and scenic videos. Also, congrats on your Hot Cross Buns baking success… that sweet “proofed” to be a total treat, especially when being enjoyed right there in that amazing little spot. I just have to say that my jaw was dropping before you even got to the water. Those rock formations were mind blowing, it was like something out of a movie, and I loved the letter box too (how totally cute!!). Your swim spot was amazing!! The water was so clear, the falls were stunning, and everything just looked perfect!! The mossy banks and the little bridges were postcard material. I’m so completely in awe at how you manage to find such fabulous swim spots. I’m just thrilled to see that you’re back in the water again. There are lots of sunny days ahead and more exciting swim spots just waiting to be found. Thanks for this great little video today… it leaves me wanting more… (and I think that’s OK). Ⓜary🏊♀
Hi Mary, thanks for noticing the 12K subs, I was pretty chuffed with it. RUclips is quite a slow burn in that respect. However, the connections I make on here with swimmers and adventurers from around the world make it my favourite medium. Even thinking about that hot cross bun I can taste it, it was so delicious. I will certainly have another go next year. Dartmoor is full of lovely little surprises from deer popping their heads out to say hi to amazing craggy rocks with people climbing them, to plenty of mysterious and secluded dipping spots just waiting to be discovered. Here's to more adventures over the coming months! 🏊😀
Love your vids Rachel. Hope you're standing up for the campaign to clean up our rivers..
I am, I look part in a Protestival last year at Southsea which is campaigning to stop Southern Water polluting the water.
@@EverydayAthleteRach Sadly though, too many people = too many houses. Too many houses = massive mess-up of Nature.
What a beautiful land. I hope to return once more before I die
Thank you for another great little video. You get around, gal!
I do. Tend to travel a lot for work, and always have kit with me. This was just a fun trip to hangout with friends though. Thanks for joining me!
Oh very Dart-moorish,.like that bun. Professional.
The bun was yummy!
Beautiful as always ! ♥️
Thank you! 😊
@@EverydayAthleteRach You are welcome ♥️
What a great vlog, seriously impressive in every way.
Thank you. It was a lovely little dip.
Delightful video as always! Loving your adventures so much !
You are my most watched channel 😊such a treat that the sun came out after your mini swim
Thank you so much! That's so lovely to hear. Looking forward to nicer weather!
i absolutely love it up on dartmoor, especially swimming when i was younger. I deffo need to go back there
You defo do Molly, it's such a treat with something interesting to look at or do around every corner. Expect rain though.
Thanks what a sweet video!
Glad you liked it!
Great video Rachel! Thanks for sharing your walk & dip with us, I've missed your videos recently. Your breakfast spot looked idyllic and the hot cross bun looked delicious. Hope you enjoyed the party!
Thanks so much! 😊 Things have just been a bit to hectic to fit everything in as regularly as I'd like, but thanks for noticing x
That swim spot, and your breakfast spot looked utterly idyllic!
It was a breath of fresh air and very refreshing!
You are so amazing Rachel. I love seeing women like you showing such a love for nature and getting out there doing amazing things
Thank you so much!!
Yeay, almost 12,000 VERY happy watchers, well done Rachel!!
Any dip is fantastic & that one looked super refreshing with head-dunk too. A hike back out is a perfect warm-up😊.
Hoping for a plunge up Snowdon tmw🤞.
Keep 'em coming
Thanks for watching S! It was a belter of a spot. There’s so many spots to choose from enjoy your dip tmrw!
I wish I had the confidence to go out solo as you do. I love open water swimming but only go in with someone else
I don't take as many risks when I'm on my own and there are a few swims I just haven't done because of it!
Have you ever thought of using What 3 words, in terms of the location, it looks great!
I don’t give the exact location as I worry about over populating and spoiling swim spots. There were clues in the video though 😀
Great that you back again. I love listening and watching all the places you go to. 😊
Thanks for joining me Ansie! It was a lively spot!
What a great way to spend a holiday morning and what a beautiful swim spot. You are so lucky to have all those really gorgeous lonely places around you. But I can't complain - I got to swim twice over the Easter days and each time I had the whole lake to myself and came out of it refreshed and happy after half an hours swimming.
Thanks for inviting us to your little adventure.
Wow! A whole lake to yourself. That would be amazing. Was it two different lakes? I haven't managed to get in much recently, but I'm hoping to be out exploring again soon
@@EverydayAthleteRach Yes, two different lakes. One is close to where I live, but I've never been there before. The reason I had it to myself was because it was still quite cold and while I was swimming a strong rain shower came down. There's a campsite right next to the lake and it is a very popular swimming spot in summer. But on a rainy March evening there was just one cyclist coming by, who took pictures of me swimming, because he obviously thought it very eccentric
The lake is swimming lake near my mother in law's in Southern Germany. I've been there several times. It's also very popular once the weather get's warm. For me in summer it is too warm, so I can only got there in spring, autumn and winter.
Thanks Rachel for letting me tag along on your ramble and swim. Beautiful. Cheers from a Nova Scotia dipper, Leslie
Hi Leslie you’re most welcome. I enjoyed your company 🏊♀️😀
Hot cross buns with butter of course ! Thanks for taking us on your adventure. As a all year round swimmer it makes me want to look for different spots after watching this video.
That's brilliant new Paul. I love the thrill of searching out what I think will be a good spot, irrespective of if I can actually have a decent swim or dip. Hope you find some new spots too.
Such a delightful watch Rach. Just Beautiful! Dartmoor and its scenery ain't bad either 😉 hope camera is OK - do you carry a roll of sellotape with you on your travels? May seem amateur but always handy for a temp fix until you can get to a shop - I once broke battery lid of a digital camera on a city break but the hotel receptionist was able to fix it. Had I been in the country though I'd have cried. Pre smart phone days.
Hi Dave, I think the camera needs a return trip to GoPro for a back screen replacement, but I haven't got around to doing so yet. Good reminder though, thanks! Those spikey rocks are vicious!
So happy to see a new video Rachel! I’ve missed you! (Although I understand you’re very busy!) What a super walk and dip you had! Thank you for sharing with us!
Hi Katy, thanks for the lovely comment. I'm around and about, just struggling to manage everything with my current energy levels. I'm taking steps to hopefully make myself better.
@@EverydayAthleteRach I’m enjoying following your Zoe diet posts. It’ll be interesting to see if you can improve your energy levels with diet.
Well done to you Rachel! Dartmoor can feel nippy - once camped there years ago & wowzers it was fweezing & experienced the most amazing sunsets. But wished I'd known about so many potential dips & that breakfast spot was gaw-jus & well done making your own Easter Hot Cross Bun! Happy Belated Easter!
Thanks Rachel, it was a beautiful morning. I'm glad I made it out and couldn't believe that there were so few people - I guess most people have their breakfast before they head out!
Looks slightly warmer than what I get to swim in. Had my second dip in Vättern lake in Sweden this easter weekend. Near freezing, so I cheated with a wetsuit loaded with hotwater 😂. Works for a good two minutes before ones gloved hands start to freeze. Keep outdoor swimming! You're not alone! Salutations from Sweden 🇸🇪
Hey Edward, I bet Lake Vättern is beautiful, I hope to get back to Sweden for a cheeky swim tour at some point. I last swam there about 25 years ago near to Sollentuna, in the northern suburbs of Stockholm where I was doing work experience for a summer. Loved it!
Thanks for sharing, what a lovely spot, you wouldn't be prepared to share the location/grid ref?
Only via DM on Facebook or Instagram 😀
Many thanks, if you ever find yourself in Exmoor i can send you directions to a couple of sweet spots. :)
Loved watching this Rach, feel like I’ve been on an adventure with you.😊 love your fleece, what brand is it? Hope the party was fun x
Hi David, it is a Decathlon hoodie from some time ago. The party was an absolute riot! 💃🏼🏊♀️😀
Oops Rach, I sent this earlier comment from hubby's RUclips account by mistake! Only realised when he said he'd had a reply from you!!😂
Is the location disclosed or secret?
It is a secret, but I'll give you some clues. I parked at Hound Tor, walked up and through Hound Tor then headed down hill to the valley floor where there is a stream. The rest is in the video :)
Rachel how can I get in touch with you?
Do you have an email 📧 can write to you?
It’s regarding possibly coming to visit us in the Midlands for a group swim in a lake… just moved into a property right on a lake and installed a jetty…
We got all the necessary for outdoor swimming but want to invite you for a weekend. We will look after you like royalty in exchange for advice on first SWIM!!!
Hi Gabrielle I’d love to come along. Drop me an email to everydayathleterach@gmail.com 🏊♀️😀
What a lovely trip, good to see you again and great to see Dartmoor again, I used to live in Devon and Dartmoor really is stunning. Thanks for taking us with you!
Dartmoor is amazing eh, for us swimmers. I'm based in Devon and swim in an amazing waterfall, which I'd like to show you sometime. Can you tell me how I get to this spot you just swam?
Thanks!
Hey! Love the sound of the waterfall. Drop me a DM on Facebooks ok or Instagram and I’ll let you know the location 😀🏊♀️
@@EverydayAthleteRachoh bum am not on either sites😢😅
