Here is an example: Children of foreign nationals (non-OCI holders) of Indian origin born in India don't get Indian citizenship even if foreign national parents or grandparents were Indians once upon a time. But we expect the US to dish out citizenship as it feels it's a birthright.

As a Black American with an MBA and multiple degrees, I feel compelled to explain some important points. First, it’s essential to understand that the 14th Amendment, which guarantees citizenship to those born on U.S. soil, specifically applies to former slaves-Black Americans who were freed after the Civil War. This historical context is crucial because there is a growing debate about immigration, especially in light of recent demographic shifts. For the first time in U.S. history, according to the 2020 census, the white population has started to decline. This trend isn’t isolated to the U.S.; it’s a global phenomenon, with lower birth rates among white populations across the world. Additionally, with the rapid rise of AI and machine learning, there is a push from some political leaders-like Trump-who feel the need to protect the interests of the white demographic. As someone who understands the dynamics of racial and social change, I can see how this is influencing current political discourse. On the other hand, Black Americans, like me, also face demographic shifts. The Black population in the U.S. has decreased from 13.9% to 12.1% in recent years. Why? A significant factor is the growing influence of feminism, birth control, and the legalization of abortion over the past 60 years, all of which have contributed to lower birth rates in our community. When it comes to immigration, it’s crucial to recognize that being born in the U.S. does not automatically grant citizenship to foreign nationals or their children. Those who are not U.S. citizens by birth have no inherent right to citizenship, and the idea of birthright citizenship should not apply to everyone who is born on U.S. soil. Foreigners, regardless of their background, are not entitled to the same privileges as native-born citizens. In sum, we need to be realistic about the way immigration and demographic shifts are affecting the U.S., and we must remember that not everyone is entitled to the same rights or benefits under the Constitution.

Tired of birth tourism for citizenship. For example, many wealthy Chinese travel to U.S. to give birth to children, then apply for Medicaid since U.S. government cannot verify their assets and income in the U.S., but they do show their assets and income when applying for visas. They take advantage of U.S. tax payers 😢😮
Every country gives citizenship to the baby born in foreign country. Mostly Europe, most European countries allow citizenship by ancestry not by place of birth.
I know some of my friends who did exactly this...went to USA for both the deliveries😂 and came back to India ...so their kids are staying in India with US passport 😂 while their parents hold Indian passport
Most countries don't issue people citizenship merely for being born there, including India. Whether Trump's executive order will be considered unconstitutional or not, his talking about it has probably gotten a lot of people questioning whether the US should continue to have birthright citizenship. This could very likely be the beginning of the end of it.
Citizenship law cannot be changed by Executive order. It is a Constitutional law and requires a Constitutional amendment. The Constitutional provision has been upheld by US Supreme Court.

The US is entitled to pass laws which it determines is fair for "its own citizens" and not for temporary visa holders (whether they are here on temporary visas for study, work or business). Every country will obviously pass laws that favor its own citizens first. This is a loophole right now in the US for temporary visa holders. Illegal aliens also abuse this loophole. There are so many 'naturalized' citizens who have followed the laws and have earned their citizenship. Non-citizens shouldn't assume that they are entitled' to enjoy the benefits that citizens get. It's unfortunate for a lot of temporary visa holders or those who are on the verge of getting their green cards approved. Trump and his administration are pursuing right policy to close this loophole.
There's nothing wrong. So many Indian expats have lived and worked in the Gulf / Middle East for more than 30 to 50 years children too are born to them grown n married. They all hold Indian Passports and are NRIs as their parents are NRIs. If an Indian is not a citizen of the US how can their child at birth become an US citizen. Why do Indians in the US feel that their child should get citizenship and it's their right. You have rights in your own country of birth for Indians ie India. US as a country is free to change laws for expats if they want.

Exactly, but new laws can be passed just like when they passed the Child Citizenship Act. Though it's a long shot, constitutional amendments with regards to citizenship are now also possible with a Republican controlled senate and their slight advantage in the house.
Was an expat in Nigeria all Nigerians rich and poor were scamming. You say it is not against the law, without any experience. US Embassy in Lagos is never told about the pregnancies when applying for a tourist visa and have cancelled visas at Lagos airport as it was a racket. Heathrow airport termed this scam "Lagos Shuttle" which I used to travel on. World over million+ scams are used for legal/mostly illegal Western Christian citizenship.
@@asyongmatipid2 An amendment requires a vote of 2/3rds of each house of the Congress. A simple majority is not enough, Then the proposed amendment must be passed by 3/4 of the state legislatures.
I agree 💯 with Trump..
Even Australia, UK and Canada also doesn’t guarantee automatic citizenship by birth, unless one of the parent is citizen or PR.
This wont happen as it will be against the US constitution and will be fought in the supreme court. However looking at the comments I am really surprised by the hate shown by Indians to their fellow Indian brothers and sisters by being so happy by this news which will affect millions of fellow Indians living in the US! Disgusting!
@ All tamilians living in Sri Lanka are Sri Lankan citizens. They have all the rights of being Sri Lankans. They live, study, work like everyone else. They get to vote and get elected to parliament. Do some research before commenting.
@ yes there was such a time. Many sought refuge during the war. Now it’s been 15 years since the war ended. I know each country has its own laws. But why would people be so happy when a law is coming which will negatively affect their own people??
I think you are a Tamilian. Would you feel happy if the Sri Lankan government decided to revoke the citizenships of Tamilians living in Sri Lanka and deport them? They would lose everything they have and worked for. Would you still be ok with that since “every country has its own law”?? All I am saying is have some empathy for your fellow Indian brothers and sisters who would lose all their life’s hard work and dreams if Trump were to deport them back to India! I just don’t get it why people seem so happy about this!
Because Indians believe in pulling up the ladder when they get to the top
@santoshbannur Because the 14th specifically grants citizenship to anyone born in the states regardless of their parents' status. Trying to stop automatic birthright citizenship would directly violate that ammendment
@@BeanerMoneythat was originally for the Black Slaves not for outsiders. You have to read the constitution properly. Those laws were written for Black Americans.
If you have an ancestral home, and they don't want you, go home! Life is gonna be just as beautiful and maybe better. No hate,no discrimination, and no being targeted for whatever reason
Well done excellent ❤
You guys talk so much about how Indians can settle in USA. Why don't you talk about how hard it is for non Indians to come, work and obtained citizenship in India. I'm sure that's way harder in fact there is no such way. Where as you want USA to keep their gates open- isn't it a double standard. USA also have the rights to protect itself. And do not think living, working and paying taxes - USA can survive without their taxes.
I guess Vivek Ramaswamy is also hit with this because his dad is not an American citizen.
but he is trump’s boot licker , he will be saved by his orange master 😅
Two things seem to be overlooked:
There's a clear distinction between being "illegally in the country" and being legally in the country " F1 Visas, Greencards etc."
The Supreme Court would have to overturn United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649.
Legal immigration is different. It's disgusting how so many undocumented immigrants come to the country, have a lot of kids in hopes to getting citizenship. You come here legally.
I dont think it will affect people who have been given the citizenship already
He is an adult and an American citizen. We are talking about minors here.
Indian citizens on work visa birth kids here and expect to live here permanently. That’s wrong.
People there are also talks about de-neutralization. So people who are naturalized could be deported, based on discrepancies on their neutralization application and a lot more.
Agree with Tr🇱🇷👍ump
Long term work and school visas are not immigrant visas. They have term limits and therefore are temporary visas.
A very good decision by Mr. President.
The constitution is the supreme law of the land. An executive order cannot change that.
They may amend the constitution
Good, especially Euros
What country will give citizenship for the baby if the baby is not born in their country?
Every country gives citizenship to the baby born in foreign country. Mostly Europe, most European countries allow citizenship by ancestry not by place of birth.
I know some of my friends who did exactly this...went to USA for both the deliveries😂 and came back to India ...so their kids are staying in India with US passport 😂 while their parents hold Indian passport
This will cover other nationalities too so total numbers will be very high.
Most countries don't issue people citizenship merely for being born there, including India. Whether Trump's executive order will be considered unconstitutional or not, his talking about it has probably gotten a lot of people questioning whether the US should continue to have birthright citizenship. This could very likely be the beginning of the end of it.
Your country’s president’s motto should be - my country first. There is nothing wrong with that. Absolutely nothing.
That’s what he has been saying.
That’s what he has been saying always.
Citizenship law cannot be changed by Executive order. It is a Constitutional law and requires a Constitutional amendment. The Constitutional provision has been upheld by US Supreme Court.
The President will break the constitutional law & implement his order. Remember, Donaal Trump is the "best prend" of Narendra Modi.
Sp the US is expected to provide Citizenship, jobs and employment, and education while a throughly corrupted Indian political situation does nothing of the same for Indian citizens?
Nothing to worry here. He is doing the right thing for USA
Right to citizens ship brought by trumph is correct. India should also implement the same
This is commonsense.....
I support this … after become pregnant many Indians travelling to us to get their child citizenship
About time this law is passed.
Don't worry, he is best friend of the PM of India😅
Mera brend😂😂😂😂😂 mera brend will give the job come to india😂😂
Good move ❤
Curious what India policies on illegal immigrants living in your nation ?
The Indian media will not discuss that 😂
Same. People want them out. But, as usual they are the vote bank of a certain political party.
Learn about NRC
India too is facing huge illegal immigrantation crises from Myanmar and Bangladesh and Nepal . The bigger problem is that they look same like us speak the same language. And have to just crosses a barb wire fencing.
And the corruption in here is so rampant that these migrants get documents within days .
"They look the same like us."
🙃🥺😳🥸
What’s wrong with it ? Stop dramatising everything
But that is his wich but congress may not follow trump on that because been born inthe us and become be a citizen is in the 10 commandement no one can open it
Stay in India 👳🏾♂️
Yes
The critical word in the whole discussion is illegal. That includes anyone that has a visa to to come to the United states, even a visitors visa.
That's should be the correct decision. Why did they give citizenship by birth so far?
Because the 14th amendment of the US constitution made it so. It is almost impossible to pass any constitutional amendments in the US nowadays. So, like all things that Trump says, his comments on the matter are pure BS
Immigration policy is mostly related to illegals walking across the southern border. Democrats did very little for Indians who came legally to study, work and relatives. Born in USA is part of the constitution and hard to modify
Keep voting😢
The one voting is no more Indian citizen 😂
Fair enough. I don't think it specifically targets Indians.
I am typing this from India.
It will affect those Indians with no documents or invalid documents
Please understand the policy clearly don't start beating your drums without understanding what he is saying... 😂😂😂there is a difference between illegal immigrants n legal immigrants..
This so called policy won't stand up in the courts since it violates the 14th amendment to the US constitution. Another Trump lie, that's what it is.
There are women going to US for delivery on Visitors visa even for delivery, especially from some buisness community , besides some go on visiting visa and stay in US .Hope Mr Trump will clean up the Indian community who exploit US . 90% of products used in US should be US made, no more outsorcing Industrial products!
I found US flags made in China in a Tourist place in 1978 when I visited US. In 2023 when I visited US I thought about the situation of US !
Hope US will be "America" ! When ever I Visit US in particular New York,
I remember visiting the top of World Trade Centre in 1978 and the People who died there in 2000.
No matter where you go in the USA, it smells like butter chicken curry. Lol
Which smells much better than boiled chitlins down south.
Are they banning butter chicken. Solace for chickens. Americans have made million videos (one can find on social media) on butter chicken that they lavishly love the taste. So now you know how the smell is popping everywhere. Who is cooking and eating and earning. Enjoying delicacy and commenting. Not fair.😊
Its not only about india... illegal immigrants from different parts of the world . They come illegally to USA this has to stop.
Excellent law
Haha ha that's Trump, vote Trump for third term.😂
Very nice ,at last they learnt .
All other countries should do this.
Trump is the best.
Sensible move. Nightmare for those who seek shortcut for citizenship 😅😅😅
Small business will suffer more ...God bless us .
Europe does not allow citizenship by birth, even to those who have PR.
Only the children of citizens have this right.
Ok. Understood. Highly skillded job workers should not worry.
Sadly Indians are even gaming that system and have been penalised. Indian tech companies in the US bring so called specialist from India rather than employ Americans. Pro India panel forget that Indians are morally and ethically challenged. Happens in UK and have first hand experience of Indians bringing Indians for any and all jobs clandestinely. Vasectomy clinics a priority to stop industrial size breeding.
Same in Europe
India did not grant citizenships to those who were born to Tamil refugees who have been living in India since 1983 except a couple of the on special cases if i am not mistaken
Y'all voted for it. Undian was celebrating on Roosevelt Avenue, Queens NY... So no tears for y'all
I 100% agree with Trump, and why should lndians be any exception to this law.Almost every Democracy is facing this problem, lwant Trump to apply this law like yesterday. Every other country must also follow this law.
Narendra Reddy is correct 👌
