Another great reaction. I recently learned that Murderer was actually written and recorded before “Hi Ren;” it was shot in Brighton in the Spring of 2022. Ren works with videographers Sam Perry Falvey or Luke Flegg for the cinematography. The credit for this video goes to Luke Flegg. Catherine Blake (@KittyRunsMarathons) shared that Luke explained that he did the camera work by himself. In order to get the effect of doing a one-take he took overlapping footage by him leaning into/out of the car with the camera, trying to line up 99% at the threshold, and later made cuts going into and out of the car. Luke points out that there is a white car that appears parked when the camera comes out of the car, that isn't there when they pull up.
A few people have mentioned that the guy being abducted and stuffed in the trunk of the car is the person featured at the beginning of “Animal Flow” hanging from the ceiling. Hence, “Murderer” is in some ways a prequel to “Animal Flow.” The live acoustic version of “Murderer” Ren recently recorded in and released from L.A. is incredible and my favorite of the two; it features a short acoustic guitar solo, as well as some free-style rapping. I would highly recommend that you check it out.

It’s great hearing so many creators (singers, musicians, rappers, videographers etc) inspired by Ren to go and create and enjoy what they do. The content of his work can be inspirational to anyone - to be better, but also to accept who we are as human beings, but I particularly enjoy how his work is reigniting a passion for art in so many people.

Ren's album hit #1 in the U.K. awesome accompaniment being independent an this year has been hard he couldn't do any live shows going thru treatment in Canada most of the year. He's a musician a writer, makes his own beats produces has an amazing voice. Ren is a once-in-a-generation talent, in that he's incredibly gifted, and also incredibly inspiring, combined with being a really good human. His "hero's journey" through health problems combined with his artistic gifts reminds us to stop making excuses and CREATE.

so we actually had to hide a cut going in and out of the car because it was just me on camera and also shooting in a moving car with really specific camera movements and focus..I didn't know anyone who could do it the way I wanted, so I just had to end the first shot be leaning as far into the car as I could with the camera. Then cut and open the door, sit in the car. Then hold camera out of the car window as far as I can and record as I bring it in again, starting the next shot. Hardest thing was to 99% match the overlapping shots in that moment it goes through the window: angle, composition, etc. So there's a freeze frame where the inside of the car is a different shot to the outside of the car.
BLOOPER ALERT: Did you notice at (3:15) the last car on the right is a dark colored car, then after the camera comes out the window there is a white car there.

You do you. Whether I stay until the end has more to do with my short attention span than anything you do. Pauses are fine, viewers who want to see a song all the way through should go watch that video instead.
I hope you keep reacting and catch up to Ren, there’s so much stuff dating back over a dozen years. My two favourite songs are his duets with Eden Nash, ‘Humble’ and ‘Ocean’. Off the Sick Boi album I like Wicked Ways, Seven Sins and Uninvited, depending on my mood. Do note that if a Ren song is numbered, you should go find #1 and watch the idea build and evolve (and an all in one video is always fabulous to watch, (but only really necessary with Jenny and Screech). sometimes has multiple versions of a song, in which case, go with the higher views.
The acoustic versions of any of his raps are worthwhile. Since he is a musician and all around performer before he is a rapper, he can twist those pieces around into a different presentation that is just as good and sometimes better. His next album is supposed to be brighter and more traditionally musical than rap. sick Boi was a challenge to dig in and write about his worst years and the ongoing effects of his illness but all in rap. Because he wrote about his sick years as they happened already in a more traditional style as they happened. In between that, his writing credits with The Big Push are from the years after the stem cell treatment when he was trying to just be in the world again and not think about the worst of it (paraphrased from some interview or Twitch stream.).

Been watching your channel for quite some time watching you discover new music. I’m so glad you found Ren. I’m addicted to his music. Have been since March. Not sure if you’ve seen “Losing It” yet? But that’s a fun one with insane flows and switches. Definitely one to watch. Great reaction to a great song. You should go how you want to go, enjoy the music, and if some aspect of it catches your attention to the extent you want to talk about it, do that. I would have enjoyed a bit more insight into it, but I know you have said people were turning off.

Honestly not a huge fan of videos that break down every single lyric, it takes so long, the lyrics are freely available, etc. I know some people enjoy that, but meh. I love reaction videos for seeing people give their unique perspective on it generally, their enjoyment of it, maybe some technical aspects of the music or videography if that’s their thing. A long winded way of saying I like how you’ve been doing things already. :)
