Sooo, my boyfriend has been growing his baby dreads for 2 months. I told him I knew how to do them lol but I don’t, and he’s on his way to my house right now. I hope this video can help 😭😭
Thanks for this tutorial. This was the first video that helped me do a salon finished look on my husband locs. They finally looking like something. I used the clips just like you said and it made a world of difference in his length and neatness. You did a great job helping a kitchen beautician over here 😊
I’m 2 weeks in.. my hair is shorter than his but looked the same as far as the frizz and growth. I desperately need a retwist but didn’t have the funds to go. I am SO glad I found this video. I think I can do this on my own. Thank you for posting !
I honestly don’t agree with the two week retwists, especially with starter locs. Don’t be a perfectionist. Allow your hair to grow and gain new growth so you can have healthier locs in the long run and your hair will definitely get longer faster. EMBRACE THE ROOTS! EMBRACE THE FRO UNDER YOUR DREADS!
Facts 💯. Healthy head of locs starts from the root of the hair Hence locs need to be retwisted when there's adequate regrowth to avoid damage and achieve fuller healthier locs over time.
Long as I been alive 2 week retwist was a very normal thing amongst dread heads and wax was too it was only recently I heard people denounce it I wanna say 6-7 years ago also I've seen plenty healthy dreads who started with two week retwist with wax
Love these video, only thing I'll be changing is retwisting every 2 weeks is to soon. I started my son's with 2 strand twists, retwist every 4 weeks!! Washing each time!!!!
This video was amazing I have started my fiancé’s hair and would like to know what are the best twist gels I can use and also I will be getting the double clips. ❤️
Thank you for taking your time and making this video I wanted to see short dread locs retwist and I found this video so thank you for taking you time making videos
Hello I have a question my son has soft hair and his dreads are long so what products would you use to keep his dreads to last longer ? Also his dreads are different sizes what should I do and do I use a comb for this ?
Hi! So glad I found your page! I’m starting my bf’s locs next week and I would love to know what product you used on this client’s head? I’m trying to go the super healthy way and avoid beeswax and anything else that will cause buildup. Thank you!!
I’ve been hunting RUclips and IG to find the best video to help me with the comb twist motion because I feel I been doing it wrong 😑 and THIS video has really helped me.. saved it to my playlist 🙌🏾🤩

Hi! My 12 year just started his loc journey and I wanted to learn how to retwist myself bc there are not many “natural” salons near us I trust. I looove your video! Thank u so much! But what is in the bottle u are applying? Oil? Gel?
Hi, is that Clear Gel you applied to the hair before twisting? Or is it Aloe Vera Gel? Whatever it is it gives a Beautiful gloss to the locs. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome work!,,
I'm glad you said that about the clips. I started my locs 3 months ago, and I clip the root and not the ends, and they be looking so crazy lol Thank you for sharing that 🙃
I just started my Dreadloc journey going on two months now for the first month I been using tee tree oil now I’m using the mango lime oil product what other products I can use to help my hair grow and have healthy scalps
darren well yes tree oil is amazing. What you can do is add tea tree oil, peppermint oil and rosemary to your conditioner. You can moisturize your hair with a leave in spray and add the combination from above to your leave in c itinerary spray. That will soothe your scalp and keep your hair moisturized
IF YOU START OFF THE LOCS WITH PLAITS, HOW DO YOU RETWIST THE ROOT ? JUST TWIST LIKE REGULAR AND CLIP AND THEN LEAVE THE PLAIT WITHOUT TWISTING IT? .... SORRY IF THIS QUESTION IS CONFUSING LOL.
Most likely oil. U can use any oil, i use extra virgin olive oil by preference, just the one in my kitchen. some use castor oil. Any carrier oil really, as long as its a natural oil, then u should be fine.
She replied to a commenter a year ago and said: “I’m using the Get Twisted Hair Studio Gel. The owner of the hair salon makes it and has it shipped in. “ (Most of us are wanting to know the same thing)
I’m sure this was already answered somewhere in all these helpful comments, but what’s in the bottle that you put on each time you separate?? Gel like material?
Also not to be mean or a stickler but the “you don’t want that” stuff is kinda iffy. Some people do like the “messy” look and it’s not at all a bad thing. Hair can’t be perfect all the time, that’s why people have bad hair days. Part of having locs is embracing the frizz and the slight imperfections
I completely agree with you on that.🤔. I like the 1 week old hair myself. Some people though have to have s conservative look for their jobs. Unfortunately people judge the frizz
I have been trying to get the pinning down. My 3yo son's hair is cut in this same exact style. I have the same pins you are using in the video and when I double pin it flattens out the loc where the pin is placed at the bottom. If I don't put a pin at the bottom then the bottom will curl and flip up!🥴
I learned so mmm much watching your video. You did a great job demonstrating how to retwist. I just started mine on my own and my hair is mega short so no clips yet but thanks to you explaining how to put them in I'm excited. I will divinity get in touch with questions I will have. I’m going to start my own locs tomorrow actually I’ve been watching a lot of videos on how to do it on my own I was just wondering after I twist them how long should I wait to give myself a retwist?
just started comb coils yesterday when im 2 weeks in what should i retwist them in since we are in pandemic there is no hair salon open to get them perfesonaly done
M. ella it’s ok, that’s normal, the back is usual the first part to untwist. Don’t worry it’s normal, this is why I recommend a Retwist every two weeks until it matures. Tie it down with a scarf or Durga every night and every chance you get, it locks faster and your twists can stay longer
Is this really as eas as it looks? My son just started his locs a week ago and his hair is already messing up.. I want to learn bc I don’t see myself taking my son to the loctician more than once a month
May I ask why you suggest a retwist every 2 weeks? I usually hear anything from 4-8 weeks. But I’m doing research lol not sure if it’s a personal preference
I say 2 weeks because I find that when people wait 4-8 weeks, there tends to be a big ugly ball( happens when hair is maturing), at the root of the loc. When retwisted, the ball doesn’t lay down smoothly. Retwisting every two weeks, I’m the beginning, gets rid of that peoblem
Nice, what was your routine? Some people do not like to leave their hair alone because it tends to take on a mind of its own after awhile. So i'm curious, how did you keep yours neat for two months
GreenKC 2 weeks did seem to early to re-twist and 2 months seem to long to have done nothing lol. How long is your hair? Did you twist it at all like just touch it up here and there or literally did nothing for 2 months? Also, within that time I’m assuming it it wasn’t very neat huh with the unraveling at all or did it not unravel? This is like a mystery 😩
First Blessed 2 months is a lonnngggg time to wait, at that point the hair starts to look unpresentable if it is left untouched. A Retwist can be stretched to three weeks but the thing is, the reason why most people get it Retwist Ed after two weeks is because it starts to look a little crazy up to that two week point. Let’s say you work in a conservative office, you cannot afford to walk around with two week old unretwisted hair
A retwist every 2 weeks is too frequent. When you retwist at that pace, your locs will thin out near the roots sooner or later, causing balding. It’s normally recommended to retwist every 6-8 weeks. The key is to make sure you cover your hair with a satin or silk scarf every night. I’ve been on my journey for a little over a year and a half and it’s working. I do have to pop my locs in between time to make sure they don’t marry. But, so far, so good.
