In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates the battle of Chillianwala. Which was fought in January 1849 during the Second Anglo-Sikh War. Chillianwala is located in Punjab region of Pakistan Mandi Bahauddin). The battle is considered to be one of the bloodiest fought by the British East India Company eve. Both armies held their positions at the end of the battle and both sides claimed victory. The battle was a strategic check to immediate British ambitions in India and a shock to British military prestige. Battle of Chillianwala was led by Raja Sher Singh Attariwala, the son of Chattar Singh Attariwala, who was Governor of Hazara, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
