she states towards the end of the video that she was in the process of recording her album, that it should be finished by September 1998 and out by January 1999...wonder what happened after that because the album wasn't released until August 1999, if she would've released it in January 1999 like she says in the video, it would've came out the same month as Britney Spears debut album ...Baby One More Time.
Does anyone think that the whole Britney and Christina rivalry in music was set up ? Think if Xtina got her album out 1st, she would have been much bigger than Britney the way Britney got her album out 1st. I believe Brit's album went first cos she isn't as much talented as Xtina (in vocal abilities). It's been all planned ppl. Ever Britney's release was held till the "grunge boom" was over, one of the producers said that there had to be a right time for a pop to arise from ashes :)
They took time releasing it, just remember she did a lot of promotion for Reflection and it was a hit so that’s why it was on there. The rivalry has nothing to do with it. Christina Aguilera wanted to explore more when recording but management didn’t want that. Xtina didn’t want ‘Genie In A Bottle’ to be the first single as she felt it didn’t show her capabilities. There was no rivalry, keep in mind they both presented an award together early on and also there were moments they bumped into each other. Brit is known for her breakdown so of course a good few know her name. Xtina stood up to the label, and also she was doing a Spanish and a Christmas album around that time.

Yes she didn't want the gienie in the bottle to be a first single, I've seen the interview with Ron Fair etc, but that's not what I'm writing about.
There was also a rare interview with xtins where she said that she doesn't understand why Britney's songs are so popular since her own are so much better.
If You have spare time, look at the early documentary materials about Britney, how her family and friends talks about the MMC, they would always mention Justin and other kids but purposely didn't mention Xtina, fecking all PR moves lol

Baby One more time came into the picture and the whole Mariah/Whitney vibe had to go go, so no album by january. Christina didnt have it easy with the whole competition, must have been frustrating. And shes 17 here wow and you can tell she is so confortable, that she's so ready and just wants an álbum out allready.
