Music and vocals by Farya Faraji. The lyrics are in Avestan, the liturgical language of the Zoroastrian religion. The second part of the lyrics are the Ashem Vohu prayer.
Note that there was a major grammatical mistake in the lyrics "Ahura Mazadam," the correct grammatical way to say it would be "Ahurem Mazdam," thanks to one my viewers for correcting me.
As for the music, please note that it has no reconstructive or historical pretenses. It's a creative piece of music that somewhat utilises the modern musical language of Iranian music, but this is in no way representative of ancient Zoroastrian music, nor does it seek to be.
Avestan is a difficult language to translate literally, so here are four optional translations that more or less express the intended meaning of the prayer:
"Righteousness is best (of all that is) good.
As desired, what is being desired
is truth for him who (represents) best truth."
“Asha is virtuously maginificent,
And joy upon joy is what Asha provides
For thus is Asha Vahishta."
"Truth is best (of all that is) good.
As desired, as desired, truth
is for him who (represents) best truth."
"Holiness (Asha) is the best of all good:
it is also happiness.
Happy the man who is holy with perfect holiness!"
"Righteousness is the best good and it is happiness.
Happiness is to her/him who is righteous
for the sake of the best righteousness." - Видеоклипы

Greetings from Canada!
I talked to a zoroastrian once he told me as christian this, "Let the fire of your god burn bright enough so that the evils of this world do not have to touch you."
What does that mean?
@@theoff8411 Fire in Zoroastrianism is the most important element being related not as "destruction" but instead as "purity"
I reckon that what he meant is that he should let the fire (purity) of God shine so bright inside him that evil shouldn't come to harm
I’m sure as a Zoroastrian he was invoking the usage of fire in his religion but I thought it was apt since God in Christianity also manifested as a burning bush, a pillar of smoke, the flame that burned Elijah’s sacrifice, and the tongues of fire at Pentecost.
@@olekcholewa8171 I personally respect Zoroastrians because they are the only monotheistic religion that did not attempt to forcefully convert, expel or burn any culture or other religion before them.
I hold a great deal of grudge against the others for doing all of these things to the Carthaginians, Celts, Iberians, Egyptians, us Greeks and so many more, as well as the burning of places like the library of Alexandria. Lives are important sure, yet they are fleeting. Knowledge however is eternal...unless some homo sapiens with burning sticks and crosses decide that these are "pagan writings" and burn a treasure worth of knowledge in the name of their "benevolent" god.
Zoroastrians meanwhile as their slogan goes "Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds" stay true to their teachings even as an empire. (The reason they invaded us Greeks is because our ancestors did not view the lives of messengers as sacred, leading to...well, you can guess how the meeting went.)
@@fotppd1475 That's actually not true. Christians were at first persecuted by the Iranian rulers. It was later tolerated and embraced during the reign of Hormizd III though.

God I so want to see a revival of ancient Zoroastrian culture in Iran. I want to see Iran become a great, wealthy nation again, as befits their extraordinary history and heritage.
Well I'm really hopeful, looking at my generation the majority of iranians really hate Islam nowadays and on top of that are extremely proud of ancient Iran, we just need to overcome this fucking regime (the Islamic Republic) . I remember I was 16 when I first decided fuck Islam I could never even imagine my mother who was real believer in Allah would someday call him/her a false God and say Quran is probably written by man , and it's not just my family this is happening throughout the entire iran.

Amazing work! Can't wait for more songs like this! Sends chills down my spine!
Persia (Iran) is a respected country and nation by us the Hellenes (Greeks). Even if we were at war for many centuries, we had some cultural connection between our two. Scripts say that almost 300 Greeks were at the service of Great King, and Cyrus had recruited almost 13.000 Greek (Μύριοι,Myrii) hoplites so as to help him claim the throne of Persia. So a big respect to Iran from Hellas. A mighty opponent, yet a respectful civilization. I only wish it hadn't this mullah regime of today. It would be better for its people, and for us to come and visit Iran.

I love this song. It is so cool to imagine how zoroatrianism, one of the oldest living religions, has had such a huge effect on today's largest ones. In essence, it has shaped much of our history. This is where key Abrahamic ideas originally come from, such as god having an evil nemesis, a heavenly paradise after death, the end of the world, where god faces his enemy in a cataclysmic battle etc etc

Persia (Iran) one of the great countries in world history . 🌴🐊🐸🐍
Great content, I'm really fascinated by old Iranian religion. I wonder about the drums in the background, are they historical or reinterpretation because of lack of sources? I don't know much about.
Ironically the drums might be the only historically accurate part of the music-as far as we know choirs were never a traditional thing in Middle Eastern culture, and Zoroastrian chants were most likely performed solo as they are done today. As a whole this piece of music is almost completely fantastical, it has a choir, uses polyphony and harmony and overall, Zoroastrian religious chants don't have this rythmic, war-like sound to them. The drums however have some historical relevance, we definitely know that ancient Iranians used them since the Romans give accounts of the terrifying sound of Parthian drums and how they were used in battle.
Another historical indication is the "Toshmal" style of music of the Bakhtyiari people of Iran-if you search for it on RUclips, you'll hear how this exact percussional pattern I used is a stable of Toshmal music. It's also a very popular percussional pattern in pop music; you'll hear it in most pop songs today and especially the Reggaeton style of Latin America, but it's a very old pattern with a lot of historical uses.
And the last historical indication we have is Sufi music-Iranian and Turkish sufi music use this exact same percussional pattern, since it's so effective at creating rythm and losing yourself in it, which is the point of Sufi gatherings. We know Sufism predates Islam-mystical gatherings using drums to create a sense of spiritual transe existed before Islam expanded on the idea with Sufism. The drums you hear at the end is the Daf, which is a very ancient Iranian drum that goes back to Sasanian times and was used for spiritual purposes. The ones starting from the beginning are Davul drums, which are also very old and stretch back to Antiquity.
So the drums themselves are historically accurate, and so is the pattern they're playing-it's a very ancient percussional pattern that has always had a connection to spiritual gatherings, and most Sufi music you'll listen to will use this pattern to some variation. Since we know the Daf was used for spiritual purposes even in Sasanian times, I can also claim that the context in which they're used here is accurate enough insofar as the Daf had close connections to spiritual gatherings of Iranian religions like Zoroastrianism, Mithraism, and others.
However, as far as I know, we don't have evidence for Sasanian-era Zoroastrians using drums during prayer and spiritual service. A more sensible image to have when listening to this piece of music would be to imagine Sasanian soldiers chanting religious mantras as they're marching towards the enemy in the midst of battle, not unlike European soldiers chanting Virgin Mary-related phrases. It's not unlikely that Sasanian soldiers would have chanted religious words when marching with drums accompanying them, so in this context, this piece of music could be considered somewhat historically accurate, but the complex choir overlapping over each other and the polyphony/harmony I used are completely creative on my part, no historical value to those haha
@@faryafaraji Thanks for the long and detailed reply, now I remember too about Parthian drum, but I didn't know the exact name. That's very useful for my historical novels ☺️👌👌
@@feaanor Interesting, can you explain about the novel you are writing? Is this a historical novel?
