I'm from Philly land of the djs one of the best dj performances ever he's using the same mixer dj cash money used a year earlier shout out to all the u.k. djs
THIS SET INSPIRED ME BIG TIME!! NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THIS STORY! BUT I STILL RESPECT THIS GUY BECAUSE HE INSPIRED ME TO BECOME THE CHAMPION I BECAME BECAUSE HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PROPER DJ I SAW DOING SPIN BACKS AND HE INSPIRED ME TO BECOME A DJ!! BUT I GOT SO GOOD I BEAT HIM IN THE WORLD FINALS TO BECOME 3RD BEST IN THE WORLD 3 YEARS LATER! HARD WORK PAYS OFF! X
Went to a Cutmaster Swift show once in the early '90s. Then was booked to warm up for him the next year. Was a great night, playing alongside one of your heroes. A technical DJ for sure.
I'd say what Cutmaster Swift brought to this was a UK twist, the faster breaks including the switch up to 45rpm and some of the grooves that are still held as key records of 89, like It Takes Two and Sleep Talk. This year was crucial to the development of the breakbeat scene in UK which grew into hardcore then jungle. But the tricks are all a re-run from Cash Money the previous year and much more sloppy. His dance is the most memorable thing about this routine!
To give the guy his props, Swift was awesome! On this set though, life served him up a turd which he done his best to polish. Nothing went right from start to finish but he just went with it and done the best he could. Even the bloody chair wouldn't work. He ended up trying to use a set up that was meant for use from a high point, using theside of his face. Man, that's versatile. Go Cutmaster Swift, you were f*cking amazing. Say Hi to Mum please. ;-)
That's my man throwing down. I thought I would take trip down memory lane, and you are still advanced ,if there is any BBoy reunions keep me touch ok. You are true Legend and the rest of the crew. Bless you and all🙏🏿😇
I was there at the Royal Albert Hall. Good set by Swift. However, I thought Aladdin should have probably won it. My eyes still haven't reovered from what he did to Herbie Hancock's "Rock It"
say what you like about swifty . in this year he did 3 different sets overall in the championships to win... uk finals , world eliminations and then the final itself (all fresh and not repeated) , now thats some hard work !....first place with all three 'yes"!! ....the best and most deserved champion that year for sure .

Andrh Broadus Naw bruh... Aladdin's World set was messed up. Now if he would have rocked his DMC USA set during this battle, it would have been very close.
The first ... unusual mix that won DMC was my favourite all time.. Cut master swift .. notice the energy .. And fun even though we'll never know what that chair was for 🤣
THATS MY DADDY HAPPY FATHERS DAY❤️❤️❤️❤️
Imani?
Top DJ
Hope he's still cuttin
Man such big respect to ur dad

I was there to witness this epic finals :)
Lucky man
was it the one at Wembley Arena?
Me too, I was also there 👍😁
@@wildj13 It was at the Royal Albert Hall, magical night
So was in there what night to British 😉
That stage is incredible...a turntable
Chad Jackson, DJ David and Swifty, all epics and true winners; it's a shame modern day turntablists aren't as inventive.
THAT'S MY BRO BACK IN THE DAY OLD SCHOOL WILL NEVER DIE.
WORD.
@@UNITEWADdid you reply to your own comment?💀

Game over!
Back in the days when the Audience got Loud & hype.. good old days.

Heard this on Stu Allans Bus Diss show back in the day. Still incredible.
This has to be one of the greatest sets of all time
Five minutes in I realize the turntables are not in battle position. Mad props. Gonna go watch Aladdin now.
Who's here in 2020?
Also, not a sampler insight...
2022 and BEYOND🔥. When D.J.s we’re D.J.s B-Boy FOREVER!💥
Came for the set, stayed for the dancing.
I was there at the Royal Albert Hall. Good set by Swift.
However, I thought Aladdin should have probably won it. My eyes still haven't reovered from what he did to Herbie Hancock's "Rock It"
Agreed
Times when dmc was a competition, not a repetition
You Got That Right.
Just came back to see Swifts funky chicken dance again.
remember seeing this and made me get into DJing, respect
Tried to replicate this on my parents radiogram and top of the pops records... gotta say didn’t work out well but it was so fun..
I get the feeling that a lot of people thought dj Aladdin was robbed...
True That.
Yep!
A contender for one of the worst DJs and stupidest sets ever to win the DMCs
Yep
Rock the bell elz....rrr rrrrok....rock the BELLS....(transforming g using switch not cross fader)
Who knew a ridiculous dance could raise the roof at a DJ comp lol
Real DJing. New Jacks Take Notes. Records Skipping And You Could Still Win.
Yea an amazing moment!
i saw this at wembley live in 1989 and met jazzy b in the crowd
The truth is this guy probably won from crowd controll if thats in the dmc rules but dj aladdin set was way way way better than his
I agree, Aladdin's cuts was crisp and straight up on point
I Was Going To Say Something About That But You Nailed It. Actually DJ Eliot Ness From Finland Had A Tighter Set As Well.
Aladdin murdered him.
Go cuz.. was always the best mixer growing up from the 80’s!! ❤️
Aladdin was robbed here but he later defeated Cutmaster at the New Music Seminar
I had to watch it twice. I cant even find the words.

fast-t knows !!!..
That should be a rule, I hate seeing reused rounties in heats, unless they do something different with the records.
Aladdin's set was far better. Swift won because his home crowd cheered the loudest for him. His set had many mistakes
@@DG-ic5yw aladins was not .
@@djfastt true aladin was sloppy as hell in the worlds , his usa final set was tight !
Saw this live ...... incredible memories 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That Giant technics in the background is sick
This is incredible
This is my favorite comedy program.
Very good set! All skills, no serato!! Straight 1200 Techniques!! Changing the records!
THAT'S HISTORY. J.
Absolutely quality a proper dj
Saw Swift at Nottingham rollerworld many moons ago
awesome
The best set he ever did classic
Was at this final wembley arena, video does not do it justice watching cutmaster swift live set next level…
Magnificent....
Definitely a ambassador of the art, but Aladdin’s set edges this one out imo , but great performance either way
Nah, he was a burden on the art.
nice work dj set 👍👍😎😎 real scratch & mix enjoy !!!

O verdadeiro rap
Na época que se fazia rap,o mais puro freestyle.

Swifty!
I can see that this comment section is not DJ knowledgable. The dancing and show does NOT take the place of skipping needles and off beat mixing.
Starting song for2021

No disrespect to Cutmaster Swift imho DJ Alladin(USA) should have won on the night.
Have to say this is a bit of a mess but 11/10 for effort and dealing with problems
BADMAN TINGS 🥵🥵🥵👑
Dude is sloppy. Aladdin should of won... And thank god they banned those damm whistles from the battles
I reckon Aladdin won it that year.
So Will Smith who do you thank ???
