An idea for flat surfaces... is maybe empty/abandoned parking lots? Obviously be careful, since cars might be coming in and out for short cuts etc. etc. so it might not be super safe unless no one goes into it. The Walmart near me has a big parking lot behind it where most cars don't park in where I used to learn how to bike and more recently go to practice roller skating. It's kind of bumpy, but I'd aim to get outdoor skates regardless.
Just a tip: when you fall (or really at all times) keep your joints bent because my sister fell on a straight arm and dislocated her elbow and it’s damaged permanently so just make sure you keep your elbows and knees bent when you fall. Happy skating ! ✌️
Yeah that counts for any falling in general... And also don't fall directly on sensitive parts of the body One time I got hit by a car but I rolled my body up like a ball when I hit the ground and nothing was injured
I’m getting mine June 15 (my bday) and I got white kick up skate shoes (like shoes that when u press a button turn into roller skates) and I’m so excited I used to roller blade religiously and I’m kind of nervous bc I haven’t skated since I was like 7
I know the feeling of nervousness when you first put on your skates! Something I learned from Dirty Deb is to hang onto something and do some squats once your skates are on. I lock my car and hang onto the door handle. It helps warm up your muscles and remind your body what it feels like to be on wheels! You'll get more confident every time you skate :)
When you said “don’t compare your skate journey to others’” that made me feel so much better 🥺🥺❤️ I was feeling so shitty Bc it’s been almost a week since I’ve started and I’m so ass but then I remember like bro it’s only been days 😣

When I bought my roller skates and helmet and all the protection, I went to train the first time in the city center square. They can laugh at will, I'll not hurt my whole body at the risk of breaking some bones just to look "cooler" or adult in their eyes. ⛸
Thank you so much for this comment! I also got a full set of protective gear for skating and I will wear it no matter what. I broke enough bones in the past and I don't intend to bust my wrists or knees any more than I already have

@@pumpkqueen yeah you see but you would have to change the wheels and break because they are made of plastic. Those are for indoors only. If you want outdoor and indoor rollerskate, you want to make sure the wheel are made of this hard material I forgot what type, but a way to make sure is to look at the breaks, if you see that the break is flat, it's for indoor, if the break has a little round at the bottom it's for both in and outdoors.
Hello. You're doing great. Don't be too tough on yourself, or push yourself too much. Couple of points - I e been roller skating for 20 years. Rolling down a hill going forwards still terrifies me. I'll only ever do it backwards, as your stoppers are much more effective. Point 2: don't be frightened of falling. More portantly, if you're going to fall, BEND YOUR KNEES. you'll hurt yourself a lot less. Good luck!
Anudari Magsarjaw i think it’s best to just take it slow and practice as much as you can. I’ve had my skates for nearly two months but I’ve just started skating outside recently and I’ve only fallen once on the pavement.
I fell on my first 6 steps of skating. That was 12 weeks ago. I have been too scared to put my skates back on since because I fell on my Cocyx and it was so incredibly painful for 4 weeks. I don't know if I can put them on again, my confidence is completely gone
I’m 35 and just got my skates. I haven’t skated in about 8 yrs. Growing up I rollerbladed, and this is a whole other ball game. Your video has inspired me!
I ordered skates and no helmet because my mom said I should just try if I like skating like wth?? Safety first. Tomorrow I'll go to a skate shop and grab a sweet helmet first.
@@iynfei3605 theyre sometimes called "jelly wheels" mine are semi transparent but if you go into any skate shop they'll show you. You can also google "outdoor quad skate wheels". Hybrid wheels also work outside
Kami N definitely was deciding to get the moxi skates! Since they are an outside pair I believe. They look kinda squishy 😂. But every skate I look for is sold out. I’m not trying to get a crappy pair of skates.
you’re doing so good!! i’m a beginner too, i just started skating four days ago. you could try looking for a tennis court to practice in! that’s where i’ve been practicing, and it’s way WAY smoother than pavement and it’s nice and flat too, which makes it so much easier to learn!
Emma G. i’m in canada so i got mine from rollergirl.ca. if you’re in canada i highly recommend them, they shipped out rly fast and arrived super fast too!
Me @3:39 -"OMG she's Colombian" As soon as i heard your mom, i thought i heard the accent but because of the echo i said nah. I've been roller skating for 10 months and haven't met a Colombian yet (even though we excel at this sport 💪🏼 ) Welcome to the roller skating community!🤗🤩
Katherine Hernandez siiiii!! viva colombiaaa!! 🇨🇴 and thank youu!! so nice to see another fellow colombian in my comments aaaah hiiii nice to meet you!! 🥰❤️
Omg I was going to ask her if she’s Colombian cause I heard her moms accent ... this is great . I’m Colombian too and started skating again last year (I skated when I was young) but now I have to take a break .
I'M ALSO 21 AND LEARNING TO SKATE!!🤠 I haven't gone practicing for like 3 months now bc of quarantine, but when I went out people would look at me funny, and little kids would ride past me way faster😂 also had some people cheering me on! Keep rollin'!💕
omg literally me, i’ve roller skated for 3 days so far and i tried to get on the pavement and can only stand for like a couple of seconds. idk if it’s a fear of falling or what but i can only try and do the tiniest amount of stuff like balancing or getting up or down on a carpet or the grass :(
Small help from someone who skates; (I’ve been skating for 15 years. I’m 20 now lol); bend your knees when skating, and don’t look down. Ive always seen people with straight knees and looking at their feet constantly. Don’t do it, it will make it way harder. Also wear a helmet. I don’t since I was taught how to fall properly, but a lot of people were never taught how to, so wear a helmet please D: Also, try to do some exercise off skates. Developing leg muscle and core strength will help you be more stable in your skates! :)
avneet deol 1: wear a helmet. Not only it will protect you, but it will also make you feel more confident and less scared of hurting yourself. I taught some of my friends and this helped them feel way more safe! 2. If you don’t do exercise, try to find some exercises to have more core stability/strength. 3. Don’t look down when skating. I know it’s difficult if your instincts scream at you to look at the ground, but don’t. Find a flat surface and look forward! 4. Bend.your.knees. I repeat this to everyone beginning. 5. Start trying beginner movements. DONT START TRYING TO BE A PROFESSIONAL OMG. A lot of my friends tried to imitate my movements... but I repeat. I’ve been skating for years, they haven’t. If you are a beginner of course you won’t be able to skate fast and in a polished way. First work on your basics, and at least watch some videos of beginner moves. 6. Take your time. Some people learn quick and some don’t. The important thing here is to learn. It’s not a race of who gets sooner to the goal. It’s a path you have to learn from. Enjoy every success and learn from every failure. Never try to be quick, because that’s when your mind loses focus on learning. Be steady on your journey of skating. Good luck :D
some tips from a figure skater: DONT look down. you’ll lose your balance if you do and you might fall face first and that’s not a good thing. you should also stand straight to get used to balance a little easier. these tips especially help when you’re roller blading (AKA inline skates) and since roller skates have quad wheels, it’s easier to gain balance. for those people who don’t figure skate, i recommend using roller skates instead of roller blades. and tie them tightly to reduce injuries. if it’s too loose, it’s gonna be really hard to control and gain balance. and yes, you should wear protective gear. hope this helps and good luck :-)
Tbh I have never ice skated and I find inline skating/roller blading a billion times easier than quad roller skating, the balance is easier to hold with the wheels in the center of your feet
I can't wait to get outdoor wheels, learned that the fact that I didn't have those was a large part of my difficulty rollerskating outdoors. Dirty School of Skate is a great channel to watch when learning to skate; dirty Debra is pretty coolllll.
I've done artistic skating and I do derby now, and the one thing all my coaches say is if you don't fall your not trying hard enough 😊 keep at it chick your already doing so well!!
@@friedoreos7354 I don't like hearing _"don't fall your not trying hard enough."_ Falling is not inherently bad but I don't think a coach should be saying that.
youuuu guyyyssss!!! thank you so so so much for your support and all your comments and all your help!! you guys are teaching me so much with ur helpful comments (that my helmet doesn’t work as well, that protective gear has a right side up and mine is upside down [wtf i would’ve never known that], to bend my knees more, etc...) THANK YOU GUYS!!! I read all ur comments and they’re all so sweet, fun to read and helpful thank you!! Thank you for watching my video too!! I love you guys!! 🥺❤️🥰 PS. another helpful comment was that i have to loosen my trucks to be able to do transitions... anyone know how to loosen trucks i can’t find any videos that teach me well enough.... any help would be nice! 🥺👉🏼👈🏼
The PowerDyne Y3 skate tool is what you will need to adjust your wheels, trucks and toe stop. www.amazon.com/Powerdyne-Skate-Tool-Socket-Wrench/dp/B00HBRPZSC/ref=sr_1_2?crid=383RHBZEEXZNN&dchild=1&keywords=powerdyne+y3+skate+tool&qid=1590637243&sprefix=powerdyne+%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-2
To loosen (or tighten) trucks...flip your skate over. The two bolts on the bottom of each are what does it. "Righty tighty, Lefty Loosey". You will need a skate tool of some sort, though. Anyway, you ONLY need to adjust them under certain conditions. NO two skaters will ever have their skates adjusted exactly the same. Too tight - your skates will only want to go forward. This can damage the cushion and the cushion retainers. Too loose - your skates will rattle when you pick your foot up. This can either damage the kingpin and/or cause the skate to fall apart. As long as your trucks are somewhere in between, you're fine...but DO play with them a little - tighten AND loosen - to see where YOU like them. Also note that if you feel "wobbly", most likely, they're ALREADY too loose...you'll want to TIGHTEN them...at least until you get a bit more confident with wheels under your feet...then you can start loosening them back up.
I just did it for the first time last night after having my skates for a year ( got them last Christmas ) I have a concrete backyard that is really smooth. My nosy ass neighbor finally moved last night lol.
If you want to turn easier (like you were talking about for day 2 and for transitions for day 5) try adjusting your trucks! They might’ve come tight because tight is easier for beginners, but loosening them helps you turn and maneuver a lot easier. It will also help you with dance skating!
Try being 36 with kids trying to learn. Tap into that inner child and have fun. My kids don't want to learn so forget about your age and have fun, falls are not failures When you stumble make it part of your dance! Coral Impalas calling my name now. The most fun comes from facing fears and seeing how far you can progress in an area you thought was so hard at first.
after buying my skates and only doing minimal practice indoors while I wait for my protective gear, I woke up this morning ready to just quit skating because I was discouraged at the rate I was improving.... After watching this video, it re-ignited that spark & made me excited and ready to learn again! thank you for your inspirational words :)
I actually got my first skates when I was about 11 and dropped it after 1 year and I never used them rlly, I also got those 4 in a row racing ones I didnt read. I'm now 14 and I'm gonna get into quad skating, do the research I recommend getting OUTDOOR WHEELS. Basically jelli like and soft on pebbles and slippery surfaces. Much easier, good luck future skaters!! I believe in u dont give up! ☺☺🥰
I was seven when I learned to skate by myself I’m 13 years old this year I’ve been skating for six years you will improve and I promise you will you just have to keep trying and you will defo get all the tricks you want I can do a 180 toe stop just last yr and I I’ve skated every day for 6 yrs and even if it rains I go out to learn new stuff ❤️✨✨✨✨ I hope your learn the tricks you wanted to do
I have to skate because I’m a carhop for sonic and skaters are rare. And you will never here more criticism in your life. I’ve feel a few times and customers will tell me “you shouldn’t be in those” or “stick to walking” but I keep my head high and say “practice makes me better”. Please keep trying and you’ll do great. With that mind set, you’ll go to places in life. 💕
I love how you also show them falling and failing it shows even they mess up but they keep going and that encourages a lot of people. It’s hard to get motivated when you see all these pros doing cool tricks and riding flawlessly. ❤️✨
I'm so proud of all the people who have taken the time to learn to skate and enjoy life a little differently. I love watching these videos. Congratulations 👏
Watching roller skating videos make me more excited for my skates. I have never felt more eager to skate before. you addressed me into roller skating so thank you and love the skates
In my perspective I feel like skating in parking lots that have a few cracks is better to learn and get confidence in yourself with the roller skates A fter your done doing all that process you can go into a flat surface or skating rink and it'll be more easier for yourself .
Yes! I’ve started on parking lots and sidewalks that have some flat area some decent hills and it scared the absolute shit out of me at first but I feel like it’s made me better faster than if I started off on a tennis court or rink
hey!! I’m sure you’ve learned even more since this video, but I just wanted to give some advice about transitions if that’s okay!! I’m also a new skater, and I learned transitions by doing an “opening and closing book”, instead of moving both feet at once. like if you’re turning right, look over your right shoulder, let your hips open, open your right foot with heels together (like a book!!), transfer your weight to the right foot, and follow through with the left, bringing your toes together and closing the book. it made it so much easier for me!!
DUUUDE, i have never related to a video more. I got my skates a couple weeks ago and the FEAR of going outside is so real. I dont think it's that I'm scared to fall but every time I think about actually going outside and just skating I get so sick. It's more the people watching and knowing that i'm a beginner. I've only been out 3 times! you've definitely inspired me to go out more :)
Hey gurl! I did the same thing as you! I bough skates when I was 16 and was so scared to skate that I gave up. But this time my friend supported me and I've been learning since March! Honestly it's soo good! Im 21 too!!
This makes me so pumped to go roller skating 👏 I haven’t in like a month but I’ve been skating for almost two years (ish) and I’ve been in a slump but you’ve got me ZAZZED
This is AMAZING!! I just started skating like a couple weeks ago once quarantine started, so to know that other people are going through the same struggles as me is so encouraging. Love this!!!
Always so exciting to see people getting into roller skating! 🥳 For the crack that you tripped over: whenever you're skating outside you wanna have staggered feet, don't have your skates right next to each other. Also learning how to do a plow stop is super helpful.🙂 I'm stilling learning too, but I've learned lots of tricks, so if you ever wanna learn some new tricks together or need help, even if it's virtually, DM me on IG @arieltheactivist.
You're not alone...I cracked up when she said that too. At least she didn't fall down on a big ass crack! Her English usage is very cute I felt like I was watching my friend's video made just for me!
I just started to get obsessed watching roller skating videos and my mom knows when I want to try something I stay committed. After watching videos of ice skating and roller skating for 2 weeks, I’m now getting skates soon. I used to skate when I was younger but it wasn’t for long because I grew fast and they didn’t have my size. I also only have skated inside but after doing a bunch of research, I feel confident
I skated for the first time yesterday and fell on my ass 😭😭 i flew backwards and mostly landed with my wrists now they hurt im never not gonna wear wrist guards now lmao
If you feel unstable when skating, drop down so you fall on your butt from a short distance instead of falling from a high distance. Also, never use your wrists/ hands to fall on. If you’re going to fall, fall on your knees (if you have knee pads on)
Love having more skaters in this world❤️✌️Keep at it!! You doing amazing. I started out on skates then switch to blades. Been an amazing hobby of mines and def great exercise.
thank you for sharing... i said, “ME TOO”, while watching the whole video 😂.... when i started skating outdoors again after not skating for many years, i felt the same way. it’s a whole different world than indoor skating. what was funny for me, i taught myself how to skate outdoors first many years ago. later i turned to the roller rink which was fun with family and friends. however, i returned to skating outdoors recently because i think indoor skating is very social and none of my friends or family want to skate these days. i purchased new skates in February hyping myself up to skate outdoors. I just knew i would be just as good as i am in a rink. Honey, when i put those skates on to skate in a parking lot, i was so terrified 😩😩. i didnt give up though. i got enough courage to go again and again weather permitting. but i too felt like i was starting all over each time i skated. it’s been 4 months now and my confidence level skating outdoors has definitely increased. i have a ways to go but witnessing you was both encouraging and motivating. thank you again for sharing. 😊
Dude I’m so glad yt suggested you to me!! Super sick vid and It’s low key a a mood lifter to see people have so much fun and learn new things. Also for toe covers, I know they can be kinda unappealing but there’s fun things to do to make them a little nicer (getting some fun thicker fabric to make them, or even getting some cool duct tape to preserve boot, be functional, and not “harsh your buzz”. And with the toe stops, if they get too warn you can try to screw them in slightly altered (need a screw driver though) - it saves me from having to get a new toe stop and waste the old one. Happy skating!! ✨
toe caps can be cute! check out some etsy shops because i recommend them in the beginning so you don’t scuff your skates up. when you’re a lot more comfortable take them off and put them back on when you’re trying new things!! BUT i will say your progress is rad and i’m excited for you!! 💛💛💛
this is so cute and i'm so glad I found this video! I started skating back in march and this video makes me regret not having recorded my skating journey like you! Thank you for your kinds words at the end. You seem so genuine. Amazing job on your skates!!!
21 as well, I love roller skating i can say that videos helped me a lot and not being afraid, you got this! Learning how to get over cracks is just lifting up your front roller skate just a tad bit and gliding over.
It gets me really excited seeing your progress! I’m getting skates again after not skating for almost 8 years. I highly recommend you to get toe guards, they are really cheap you can get them in any color. They are used for covering the front of your skate so they last longer and don’t get scratch.
I used my dad skates when I started a month ago, and I broke them a few days ago hahah but my very own first skated will come tomorrow and I'm so excited to have skates that are actually pretty and fit meeee

I love this video! You’re so positive and your progress is great. I got my skates four days ago and I’m still struggling but I’m having fun, time goes by so fast when I’m skating and I feel so free, its great! I’m super proud of you and can’t wait to see you improve even more!

Hey love! I've been skating for 8 years ( I'm 12 ) and I'd be happy to help. A few tips : make sure that you lace them v tight around the ankles so the wont be sure after a while. Bend your knees when you first start, that way it's easier to move and wont hurt as much to fall. Another thing! Your going to fall, and it'll probably hurt, just dust yourself off and get back to practicing when you feel comfortable enough. Bye for now!
They're all sold out, sis. You'll have to wait till September for every store to restock. I've looked everywhere for cute ones. I ended up having to get a men's pair. It was almost $200...
Hey Honey! I had the same feeling when I bought my first Skates, about stop and turn, was a hell of a torture, the key for a good (at least you don't fall) is to use your hips an part of your waist to gain more power for your turn, so you don't have to lift up a feet or you don't have to stop your way, just use more hips and you are going to be skating backwards in an instant ♥️send you good vibes
I'm learning how to skate too!! Still need to go outside, but I've learnt that if you do like a minute squat when you first get back on the skates for that day it warms your legs up and makes them feel ready xx
This is inspirational! “Don’t not skate just because you’re scared to fall, keep persevering!”
I had one call and stop skating for 2 months out of fear worst decision ever

Couple of points - I e been roller skating for 20 years. Rolling down a hill going forwards still terrifies me. I'll only ever do it backwards, as your stoppers are much more effective.
Point 2: don't be frightened of falling. More portantly, if you're going to fall, BEND YOUR KNEES. you'll hurt yourself a lot less.
Good luck!
woah thanks for the advice! i bought my skates online and they’re coming in a bit!
I agree the fear of falling really holds me back sometimes but it’s not even THAT bad hahah. I’ve only fallen twice in 2 weeks I’m shook lmaooooo
yea same haha I wiped out a few times but honestly it isn’t that bad it’s just scary cuz u feel yourself going down and you’re like oh god
Agreed. I thought I'd be so confident with roller skates because I am with ice skates but wow its horrifying compared to being on ice
How are you guys so good at this?? I fell like a 100 times in just one go. Maybe I just don't have any balance at all. It was terrifying.
I am with you, I am 38 and havent skated since I was 13 or 14. Im scared my old ass will break something lol 😳🤦♀️
36 and former blader. I bought both inlines and quads but im starting with quads
Wow I'm so glad you showed us your experience. I'm a beginner skater too and watching this has given me a confidence boost to keep practicing.
definitely wear a helmet lol cause i tried to go skating without one and now i have a concussion
Emma S omg nooo!! get well soon!! that’s so scary!
why am I laughing
@@kovici7226 its okay i was stupid
Lol I haven’t skated without my helmet since I got bc it has skid/scratch marks so I knows it’s came in handy without me realizing it
I ordered skates and no helmet because my mom said I should just try if I like skating like wth?? Safety first. Tomorrow I'll go to a skate shop and grab a sweet helmet first.
Pro tip: get outdoor wheels!! They make going over any bumps so much easier
Those were indoor? I didn’t know that!
What do outdoor wheels look like?
@@iynfei3605 theyre sometimes called "jelly wheels" mine are semi transparent but if you go into any skate shop they'll show you. You can also google "outdoor quad skate wheels". Hybrid wheels also work outside
@@nes5287 all skates you order online (unless specified) will come with indoor wheels
Where did you get your skates?
Emma G. i’m in canada so i got mine from rollergirl.ca. if you’re in canada i highly recommend them, they shipped out rly fast and arrived super fast too!
Me @3:39 -"OMG she's Colombian"
As soon as i heard your mom, i thought i heard the accent but because of the echo i said nah.
I've been roller skating for 10 months and haven't met a Colombian yet (even though we excel at this sport 💪🏼 )
Welcome to the roller skating community!🤗🤩
Katherine Hernandez siiiii!! viva colombiaaa!! 🇨🇴 and thank youu!! so nice to see another fellow colombian in my comments aaaah hiiii nice to meet you!! 🥰❤️
Omg I was going to ask her if she’s Colombian cause I heard her moms accent ... this is great . I’m Colombian too and started skating again last year (I skated when I was young) but now I have to take a break .
I thought the exact same thing when I saw that T-shirt, I mean.... we do love our football/soccer team!
Everyone feeling awkward about learning how to skate in their early 20s
Meanwhile my almost 30 year old ass....
Lol im such a self concious person, you have the bravery to skate when your thirdy. I better start trying to skate, thank god im only 10.
Don't feel bad about age. You're skating. I'm skating again after almost 20 years and I'll be 40 in a few months.
@@kanesharoy4644 🙋🏼♀️Closer to 50 than 40...starting again after 35 years!
i'm 30 lol so what
Loving it,back on my skates at 47 .
Skating in my kitchen can't wait to get outside😀
I couldn't even STAND on my first day! I'm so jealous :(( I'm still struggling just being on them day 4
Literally same, but congrats on keep going I keep giving up and starting again like 2 weeks later
omg literally me, i’ve roller skated for 3 days so far and i tried to get on the pavement and can only stand for like a couple of seconds. idk if it’s a fear of falling or what but i can only try and do the tiniest amount of stuff like balancing or getting up or down on a carpet or the grass :(
avneet deol I keep loosing my balance 😅
Small help from someone who skates; (I’ve been skating for 15 years. I’m 20 now lol); bend your knees when skating, and don’t look down.
Ive always seen people with straight knees and looking at their feet constantly. Don’t do it, it will make it way harder. Also wear a helmet. I don’t since I was taught how to fall properly, but a lot of people were never taught how to, so wear a helmet please D:
Also, try to do some exercise off skates.
@@kthy31 yeah it really just depends. i personally think that quad skates are easier. but i do use inline skates for off-ice training.
No!
Shilvio D. Linton 😂 what
@@friedoreos7354 I don't like hearing _"don't fall your not trying hard enough."_ Falling is not inherently bad but I don't think a coach should be saying that.
Shilvio D. Linton ohhh ok understandable
Any tips to start artistic skating?
youuuu guyyyssss!!! thank you so so so much for your support and all your comments and all your help!! you guys are teaching me so much with ur helpful comments (that my helmet doesn’t work as well, that protective gear has a right side up and mine is upside down [wtf i would’ve never known that], to bend my knees more, etc...) THANK YOU GUYS!!! I read all ur comments and they’re all so sweet, fun to read and helpful thank you!! Thank you for watching my video too!! I love you guys!! 🥺❤️🥰
PS. another helpful comment was that i have to loosen my trucks to be able to do transitions... anyone know how to loosen trucks i can’t find any videos that teach me well enough.... any help would be nice! 🥺👉🏼👈🏼
ruclips.net/video/_MdnqFmkM8E/видео.html Dirty Deborah is a great source of knowledge.
The PowerDyne Y3 skate tool is what you will need to adjust your wheels, trucks and toe stop.
www.amazon.com/Powerdyne-Skate-Tool-Socket-Wrench/dp/B00HBRPZSC/ref=sr_1_2?crid=383RHBZEEXZNN&dchild=1&keywords=powerdyne+y3+skate+tool&qid=1590637243&sprefix=powerdyne+%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-2
ruclips.net/video/zpIUbc6YLbw/видео.html
Hi omg I love your video lol but what roller skates are you using ???
I just did it for the first time last night after having my skates for a year ( got them last Christmas ) I have a concrete backyard that is really smooth. My nosy ass neighbor finally moved last night lol.
Is it me,or is roller skating addicting?
Because I have only been roller skating for a day,and I just want to do it over and over again...
Yes!! I started roller skating yesterday and can’t stop
If you want to turn easier (like you were talking about for day 2 and for transitions for day 5) try adjusting your trucks! They might’ve come tight because tight is easier for beginners, but loosening them helps you turn and maneuver a lot easier. It will also help you with dance skating!
omgggg i didn’t even think about that wowww!!! im def going to try to adjust them thank you so muchhhh!!! 🤩❤️
It feels so scary to learn to skate as a 22 year old lmao
Honestly, except I'm about to be 27 on June 23rd. 😅
I’m 22 too, and I’m glad I’m not the only one just now learning to skate! Haha
Try being 36 with kids trying to learn. Tap into that inner child and have fun. My kids don't want to learn so forget about your age and have fun, falls are not failures When you stumble make it part of your dance! Coral Impalas calling my name now. The most fun comes from facing fears and seeing how far you can progress in an area you thought was so hard at first.
elicia smith i ordered me some skates and I’m excited! Fun has no age!
elicia smith me too, except my daughters are learning to skate too. It’s so much fun 💖
after buying my skates and only doing minimal practice indoors while I wait for my protective gear, I woke up this morning ready to just quit skating because I was discouraged at the rate I was improving....
When skating outside, keep one leg in front of the other. Different stride than indoor skating. Great job!!!
I'm so proud of all the people who have taken the time to learn to skate and enjoy life a little differently. I love watching these videos. Congratulations 👏
I’ve been trying to get roller skates and they’ve been sold out for weeks lol
Skate Hut.Com
when i started roller skating i got mine from amazon they aren't too bad and for ur first pair of skates they don't have to be fancy :)
Watching roller skating videos make me more excited for my skates. I have never felt more eager to skate before. you addressed me into roller skating so thank you and love the skates
In my perspective I feel like skating in parking lots that have a few cracks is better to learn and get confidence in yourself with the roller skates
A fter your done doing all that process you can go into a flat surface or skating rink and it'll be more easier for yourself .
I tried roller skating and I loved it thank you for encouraging me!!🥺
I love your mom sm! She’s so supportive and helpful!
i have fallen on my butt so many times and lost balance in front of my house 😭 dhdhsja thank u for that quote at that end
Im a pro at roller blades because I’ve been doing rollerskating for about a month now so keep working on it you will be better than me :) 👍
This is AMAZING!! I just started skating like a couple weeks ago once quarantine started, so to know that other people are going through the same struggles as me is so encouraging. Love this!!!
Always so exciting to see people getting into roller skating! 🥳
For the crack that you tripped over: whenever you're skating outside you wanna have staggered feet, don't have your skates right next to each other. Also learning how to do a plow stop is super helpful.🙂
I'm stilling learning too, but I've learned lots of tricks, so if you ever wanna learn some new tricks together or need help, even if it's virtually, DM me on IG @arieltheactivist.
This video has inspired me to not give up. Thank you for this. Keep up the good work. 🖤

Lol same here. I wear my wrist guards every. single. time. because I fell bad on them before my wrist guards came in
The exact same thing happened to me
If you feel unstable when skating, drop down so you fall on your butt from a short distance instead of falling from a high distance. Also, never use your wrists/ hands to fall on. If you’re going to fall, fall on your knees (if you have knee pads on)
i’m getting a pair of rollerskates, do i need to get guards??
darya ;p I would recommend them yes. If you’re going to skate outside you will definitely need them
Love having more skaters in this world❤️✌️Keep at it!!
I've just brought a pair and they should be arriving in a week. I've been watching skating videos like this all night, I'm so excited!!
Don't forget when your legs are going out on the bubbles to bend your knees and straighten back up as you bring your feet back together!
Im almost 23 yo and yesterday I was in my street with my dad learning how to skate. 😂 So don't worry.
Francisco Gutierrez Mecalco Yes I’m 22 and just now learning 😊
toe caps can be cute! check out some etsy shops because i recommend them in the beginning so you don’t scuff your skates up. when you’re a lot more comfortable take them off and put them back on when you’re trying new things!! BUT i will say your progress is rad and i’m excited for you!! 💛💛💛
Im saveing up for roller skates and soon my dad will get me them!
this is so cute and i'm so glad I found this video! I started skating back in march and this video makes me regret not having recorded my skating journey like you!

5:07 ikr, because if it goes down even in the SLIGHTEST, you’ll start going so fast
21 as well, I love roller skating i can say that videos helped me a lot and not being afraid, you got this! Learning how to get over cracks is just lifting up your front roller skate just a tad bit and gliding over.
girl it took me a WEEK to learn just how to move ahahah😂
It gets me really excited seeing your progress! I’m getting skates again after not skating for almost 8 years. I highly recommend you to get toe guards, they are really cheap you can get them in any color. They are used for covering the front of your skate so they last longer and don’t get scratch.
I used my dad skates when I started a month ago, and I broke them a few days ago hahah but my very own first skated will come tomorrow and I'm so excited to have skates that are actually pretty and fit meeee
Omg her inspiring words make me so happy.and excited for my rollerblades. Bc I haven’t rollerbladed in a whole year so I’m really excited to get back on my new pair of skates this weekend

I’ve never skated on my life or even owned any anybody have any tips on how to learn and buy skates bc I don’t know where 🥺👉👈
check Jacks Surfboards or Planet Rollerskate and watch tutorials from Dirty School of Skates and Indy Jones! Good luck :)
Heres a tip, Do Not Look down at your skates. You want to look straight ahead so you dont bump into anything :D
Cinnamony Pasteline They have some pretty cheap compared to planet roller skate at target, you may have to order online tho
I felt the same way! Everything I’d go back out to skate I’d feel like I knew nothing and was super uncomfortable but you’ll get past it!
your mom sounds so wholesome omfg 🥺
I'm learning how to skate too!! Still need to go outside, but I've learnt that if you do like a minute squat when you first get back on the skates for that day it warms your legs up and makes them feel ready xx
I love this. I'll learn to rollerskate soon as I just ordered my first pair and this got me so excited :D
