Thank you! I usually use this when I first start building in a settlement to give settlers a nice place to live without it feeling too boxy. Glad you like it!
I've been playing since it came out and I've decided I have no imagination. Your work has added a great no mod home with windows and everything that makes it work so nicely. Thank you,
Thank you! They are fast and easy to build and (I agree) lots of room for customization by changing up the tiles and roofs or by building onto the outside of the cabins with decks or adding sunrooms (with the warehouse glass tiles).
For those of us starting our FO4 journey, this is great content. Using a standard platform is a smart idea and I love what you've done with it. I never thought to stack the half wall windows to make a better floor to ceiling view. I've already incorporated that into my latest builds! I'm always trying to cram more beds into each settlement as efficiently as possible while avoiding the barracks look, so I use a 1x2 layout with two wood floors and warehouse walls. I separate the space with a warehouse indoor doorway. I put 1-2 beds on one side and the other side is floor to ceiling windows and chairs with a table. Then I stack the same configuration on the second floor with the stairs on the outside of the building. To reduce material usage, I keep the roofs flat. I have another variation I use that uses 2x2.5 floors and allows for individual rooms with a 1x0.5 hallway/shared space, but the lack of decent half walls makes the build not as satisfying. The lack of good half walls is the main reason I installed USO.
Thank you! And thanks for sharing your build ideas! They sound like pretty solid build structures that could easily be constructed and and give your settlers a more homey feel. The use of stairs on the outside of the building is a great way to not use valuable indoor space and the flat roof tiles not only save materials but are faster to build (I use the corner roof pieces on square structures for the same reason). I totally agree with you on the 1/2 wall problem with the vanilla items - I don't know why they didn't include both 1/2 wall horizontal and vertical walls - it would allow more creative buildings in the unmodded game!
@@cryingcube2 I took inspiration from the Oberland Station railway check. I like the compact verticality of the building. Hard to make without the proper textures and half walls. Take a look and maybe you’ll see something there to use for your next build idea.
@@cryingcube2 sorry for the misunderstanding. The existing tall, white building at the Oberland Station settlement is called a "railway check". That building in the game is what inspired me to try to make compact, vertical buildings.
No problem, my mistake - thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that is what the building is called. I could see making a similar style building with a stairway that wraps around the structure - maybe a nice rooftop deck too. Thanks for the great suggestion - it does give me a few new ideas!
not long picked fallout 4 back up again, these build videos are really helpful, used you tips around the castle and will certainly be making some of these
nice! your glitchless/modless guides have completely changed my approach to settlements in Fallout VR. limited mod slots aside, i just don't have patience to mess with rug and pillar tricks. if it doesn't snap, i don't build it 😅 would love to see your take on Hangman's Alley 👀👀
Thank you - that is good to hear! I haven't tried Fallout VR but it is something that I want to do. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to build in VR but I imagined it would be difficult. I've always built with mods but recently I decided to see what I could do without mods or glitches (I have limited patience with glitches but have a great deal of respect for those that use them). Glad these videos are helpful to you. Hangman's is on my list - I haven't tried to tackle this on without mods or glitches, but I have a few ideas.
Looks awesome. Did something similar at Longfellow's Cabin & the Visitor's Center. Made a few double-sided, sharing one interior wall to resemble some of the cabins you might see at a state park. Those locations are great for that, & you can work around a lot of the trees instead of scrapping them to give the "cabin in the woods" feel.
Thank you! I hadn't thought about a duplex style cabin, but I love that idea! I totally agree with you on Longfellow's Cabin and the Visitors Center - they are 2 of my favorite locations to build this kind of rustic style.
Thanks! I agree - in addition to softer lighting, some also have an "activate" button that you can turn them on and off making them more immersive (IMHO).
@@cryingcube2 Thanks. I got a bit silly, making 2nd story balconies on some & throwing a bathtub behind each of the cabin units (separated by a half wall) to simulate a hot tub. You know the small lights on the L-shaped brackets? Connect a power conduit to trees & you can then light them up with those small lights. It makes them something interesting to see, all the little points of light in the trees through the fog as you approach. Haven't seen someone do that yet on a video.
That's a very clever idea! That would look very eerie in the fog at night! I saw a video (Oxhorn) where he used the gas lamps along the walkway (looked great) but I haven't seen anything like you described either.
I just found out of your channel. I did these cabbins in Outpost Zimonja as apartments above the broken house. Then i made more apartments next to the house. I never thought of making them individually in other settlements.
Welcome! Someone else commented that they built something similar as apartments too. I really like that idea! That would be a nice option to save space and add a lot of housing. The single cabins also work nicely at Sommerville Place and Longfellow's Cabin.
@@cryingcube2 I’m going to use the cabins in some settlements like Nordhagen Beach and Spectacle Island. I loved your apartments at Starlight Drive-in.

These are all so simple and look fantastic. I'm impressed!
Thank you! They are pretty quick to build as well. An easy way to provide simple housing when starting to build in a settlement.
Very impressed with how you took one basic shape and made each so different. Quite ingenious.

Good job using some of those standing lamps. Those are under-utilized & give a cozy glow instead of a harsh light.

If you add a half floor to the bottom of the porch roof, you can get the post to snap to that, then remove the floor.
